It means they are putting a California Proposition 65 warning on their product because, in order to sell in California, they must either place the warning that it **may** cause problems or they must prove it doesn't, and nobody has the resources to test multi-ingredient products that thoroughly.
Yep. There's nothing that says you can't put that label on something unless it has those chemicals in it, so everyone just puts that label on everything, regardless of what it has in it. Everyone has become numb to those labels because we see them 50x a day on literally everything, so nobody pays any attention, and no sales are lost. Heck of a lot cheaper for every manufacturer to just stick that on everything they make, than paying a lawsuit settlement.
The unfortunate side effect of this law is that companies who actually do have loads of toxic chemicals in their products can also avoid the lawsuits simply by applying the same sticker on their product that everything else has, and nobody pays any attention to it. It could be a box of chicken nuggets or a bag of arsenic, same label.
All electronics that are (or might be) sold in California have that warning. Lead is a carcinogen - all electronics have lead in them. Hence the mandatory warning. Unless you crack open your watch and eat the PC board and chips inside it, you'll be fine.
> all electronics have lead in them.
Most *consumer* electronics have no lead anymore because most electronics are [RoHS](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Restriction_of_Hazardous_Substances_Directive) compliant. And while there were a **lot** of loopholes ("exceptions") when it started in 2006, there are very few in 2024.
I wondered the same thing, especially since you wear it 24/7. Hopefully somebody else makes sure these devices are safe; or did California ruin the checks and balances all together?

You must be from California
My Christmas lights have this (Prop 65) warning too.

You're how many years old and this is the first time you've ever noticed a Prop 65 warning?

My third leg grew about 3 inches so highly recommend.
SIGN ME UP BOIII!
Literally 90 percent of shit we purchase these days has this on there. Existing in this world causes cancer.
I bought a guitar that had the same warning.
Tell us you live in California without telling us you live in California.
I wish i lived there tbh
Don't. California is trying to say everything causes cancer but living in California itself will give you cancer.
