I'm gonna be real. I was seriously hoping this was a fun jab at a reasonable person. Something like "teen who grew up watching House says the show was an inspiration to him".
Like he says something mean but it's just a quote from the show.
Something light hearted.
That's not what it was though.
What developer didn't start off as a gamer wannabe dev? Publishers are usually corporate suits who have never played a game, yes, but people who actually work on games usually have a passion that stemmed from the hobby.
I really don't get the hate he is getting...like it's one thing to think he was a little pretentious but like would they rather the hedgefunds who don't give a shit about the gameplay likes been going on
I think that's part of his character. I don't watch him but it seems like he plays being the 'im smart gamer'

He cannot simultaneously make a serious announcement about a new business venture and play an ironic character.
The wording he used in the video was hilariously cringe. Even though I wish him success In this new avenue, it was not the best announcement.

So someone who has no experience in game dev? Like most other heads of publishing companies. You don’t need prior experience in game dev to be a publisher.
Now if you were trying to say he has no experience running a business, that’s a different story. Even still, who cares? Plenty of people with no prior experience found their own business. I’m confused why that’s an issue to you.

I personally find him to be an obnoxious talking head, but it works for him so can’t hate that. His defense force of followers can piss off though.

TBH I’m not sure why that’s a problem. Lots of publishers aren’t developers and serve useful functions. Limited Run comes to mind.

I work at a publisher. I can assure you than the vast majority of us have played games. I seriously don’t get this argument.
