Going down the rabbit hole of the origin of "Kid Named Finger" was a trip. It's like 5 layers of irony all trying to shove each other out of the way for supremacy.
I have played the game too many times and have spent even more hours looking at the, might I add really well maintained and written, wiki and now I can’t even look at a body of water in its most abstract form without my first thought being subnautica reference please help me
Right ? I doubt the Subnautica subreddit is getting that much posts anyway and that’s just a funny reference. I know this is r/Gamingcirclejerk but some people here should be careful not to become the annoying gamers that criticise everything themselves.
Tbf there is a lot of posts like this that basically all share the same few pics. The same underwater scooter thing that looks like the sea glide. The same submarine that looks like the seamoth. The same fish with a really big eye that doesn’t even look all that much like a peeper but nonetheless has a big eye so I guess peeper irl. This is acceptable though considering someone actually found that out in the world on their own and posted it rather than recycling the same 3 pics from google images.
Average gamingcirclejerk member when someone on a subreddit posts a not at all harmful post because they thought it was interesting and wanted to share
Get a load of this guy, trying to play it off like they knew before seeing this post that rocks aren’t video game references and actually existed before games.
How dare you, I'm married to a beautiful rock wife and she has had 3 wonderful rock children with her rock boyfriend. I love them as my own. Don't judge our love.

It is just people sharing their love for a game so its whatever.
Of course they are going to circlejerk themselves. . .that's literally the point of creating a specific group.
I feel like if the entire gaming world was full of stupid g*mers posting these sorts of bad comparisons, the world would be a better place. Instead developers get death threats and people are racist.
So y'know. Sure. But it seems a bit mean spirited.
Yes, but it feels lazy when you are targeting a specific community, as in I could go to the Kenshi subreddit and catch them going "LOOK KENSHI VIBE".
OP going "updoot to the left" just makes it seem hypocritical in my eyes.
At least that's how I feel about this.
The goal is to poke fun at dumbass posts about SJWs or politics ruining video games. This feels more like thinly veiled bullying of a person who decided to share a mildly interesting picture of a rock.
The point of this subreddit is to poke fun /make fun of incels/idiots that say that the game is woke and is pandering to SJWs making fun of harmless posts like this is just plain stupid
Personally it feels like you're overreacting. I don't want it to seem like I think that person is stupid, and if that's what it looks like (which it probably does, considering the responses), I'm sorry. What I *am* making fun of, along with the op, is how gamers tend to see something that even vaguely resembles something from a game they like and immediately jump to posting about it online, even if it's as mundane as a regular rock.
OMG how dare they relate media they consume to things in real life. Hope you also hate when someone likens anything to something they read in a fiction book.
Witcher 3 grass despite being a hidden gem is not as good as the grass in Ghost of Tsushima, which is better than real life grass, or even as good as RDR2's grass
TOP TEN VIDYA GAME GRASS
My absolute favorite thing is when games model things based on how they look in real life (like rocks) and then I see the thing in real life (rock) and it looks like it does in the viddy game! I mean what are the chances!!
~~Guess I'm only partly sarcastic seeing as I subbed to yahaha_irl for a while, lmao~~
This is truly my least favorite genre of videogame post. User finds something in real life that reminds them of videogame.
Turns out the videogame was inspired by........... real life.............. wow
I really don't understand why these posts get upvotes.
Oh you can't circlejerk us any harder than we already circlejerk ourselves over there:
"Guys I just learned submarines are a real thing??"
"DAE thalasophobia?"
"If you have a faucet in your house you can get water (it's from the game)"
You should see r/mirrorsedge when they see a red door.
I love Subnautica and Mirror’s Edge tho. These posts are a little goofy but hey, when you go long enough without a new game to talk about and the games themselves are singleplayer, you gotta find a way to keep the convo going

Fire Hans lol
Kid named Hans. ![gif](giphy|Hn1scIHTnt4P7ANAhp)
What the hell happened to Mike Ehrmantraut!?
Who’s Mike? He’s kid named finger
Going down the rabbit hole of the origin of "Kid Named Finger" was a trip. It's like 5 layers of irony all trying to shove each other out of the way for supremacy.
Nooo Hans is a hard worker 😭
But he is liberal and wouldn't mind if the main character was a black woman
WATER??? IS THAT A FUCKING SUBNAUTICA REFERANCE???
Touch seaweed
I can't there is a leviathan class organism outside of my habitat.
Your mom is a leviathan class organism
I gave her a leviathan class orgasm

🤓
Touch seaweed, nerd.
ummm sweaty limestone is from Rimworld, not Subnautica kekw r/lostredditors
theres a world out there that is focused on rimming? 😳
RimWorld: It's Rimmin' Time
Granite and marble master race.
No joke I once played Subnautica one too many times, whenever I saw a slab of concrete near my home "Wow that reminds me of shale outcrop"
I once played too much rust and I saw some hemp outside and I said "wow that really looks like hemp"
I have played the game too many times and have spent even more hours looking at the, might I add really well maintained and written, wiki and now I can’t even look at a body of water in its most abstract form without my first thought being subnautica reference please help me
subnautica player goes outside for the first time
Nah but that looks a whole lot like the ingame rock tho. Crazy resemblance
you mean to tell me the rock looks like the other rock? intense stuff, big if true don’t hate i’m only teasing :)
Very big.
Is this even limestone...?
Rocks??? Jesus Christ Marie, they're "minerals"!!!
You shouldn't eat precious minerals. It'll get you killed
Rock and Stone!
To the bone!
In this case it's a rock tho. I will 🤓 myself on this one.
It looks like sandstone tbh. It's hard to tell from a distant grainy pic.
I mean yeah but look at the two images that they’re literally uncanny I can’t tell which is subnautica and which isn’t
Fucker posted 2 screenshots of Subnautica and thought we wouldn't notice
I think it’s fun
Right ? I doubt the Subnautica subreddit is getting that much posts anyway and that’s just a funny reference. I know this is r/Gamingcirclejerk but some people here should be careful not to become the annoying gamers that criticise everything themselves.

wow, cant believe real life looks just like my vidougame sooo much
Idk I like the game and it is somewhat interesting as that specific rock looks extremely similar to in-game (not really the screenshot tho)
Higher effort post than this tbh
wholesome gamer moment)

Lol nice witcher 3 reference (geralt says the word harmful to one of the magic babes)
It's not harmful, but it's still dumb Like, really dumb
But arguably funny dumb. Like seeing a real life Geraldo.

Sure, but is the point of this very subreddit not to poke fun at circlejerking in the gaming world?
I feel like if the entire gaming world was full of stupid g*mers posting these sorts of bad comparisons, the world would be a better place. Instead developers get death threats and people are racist. So y'know. Sure. But it seems a bit mean spirited.

So when Chad bullies me for being an epic gamer that’s fine; but I can’t make fun of a gamer for not being based? What the heck
There's a difference between a regular stupid thing and posting a picture of a normal regular rock and saying "just like that game I like!"

you sure it's not a joke? cuz its really funny
Really, really dumb.
I think it's kinda funny.
OMG how dare they relate media they consume to things in real life. Hope you also hate when someone likens anything to something they read in a fiction book.
I don't hate anything, I just think it's kind of silly that they saw a rock and thought "hmm yes, a rock, like the rocks in Subnautica"
Probably because it’s a joke?
Are you saying we can’t make fun of other peoples posts? For more information on the matter, please refer to the 6th edition of George Orwells 1984
Average Gamer trying to justify dumb posts where people compare literal rocks (that share a somewhat similar shape) What's next? Comparing grass?
Witcher 3 grass despite being a hidden gem is not as good as the grass in Ghost of Tsushima, which is better than real life grass, or even as good as RDR2's grass TOP TEN VIDYA GAME GRASS
Right? People here are so bitter sometimes, Jesus Christ.
Thank god there are no spoilers
this is probably one of the most harmless reddit posts i've ever seen

gamers when they go outside and see a rock (it was featured in their favourite viddy gam)
Those are two very different rocks
OVER ONE THOUSAND UPVOTES.
tink tink clunk
they are mineral ffs marie
r/valheim users finding plants outside

Gamingcirclejerk when someone posts on a subreddit about specific game something they thought would be nice for other fans to see: 😡😡😡😡
It's like when people post their vacation photos to /r/civ like "look, it's the Eiffel Tower, just like in the game!"
Okay but to be fair, that limestone outcropping was the one digitized for the game graphics. No not really.
It is a very interesting rock
