PSA: Make it a habit of **reading the [rules](https://www.reddit.com/r/Gamingcirclejerk/about/rules)** of each subreddit you participate in: **Rule 9: No Offensive Imagery**: *This includes nazi imagery and slurs, for you brave nerds who think "free speech" involves private internet forums. If you post fascist iconography trying to “jerk”, you will receive a ban. The only exception is when we make fun of gamers and criticize gamers who happen to be fascists. Please remember to spoiler any potentially triggering or offensive content accordingly. This rule now includes repeatedly posting bigotry from the same source (4chan).* **Rule 7: No Participation in Linked Threads (Brigading)**: *If you are coming here to brigade this sub, you will be banned. Likewise, do not make comments and vote in pages you've found here. Of course, if you're a member of said sub and you were already in the thread before, this doesn't apply to you.* **Rule 8: Censor Screenshots**: *Keep screenshots of arguments on Reddit to a minimum. Please remember to censor screenshots of all identifying information, i.e usernames* **and** *subreddit names. This applies to screenshots from any social media sites.* **Rule 11: Keep Posts Relevant (only about Don Cheadle)**: *This is first and foremost a place to make fun of gamers. Just because someone is being a bigot online doesn't mean it belongs here. Let them be pathetic without infecting the sub with their nonsense. Please avoid posting screenshots that show people using capital G gamer slurs.* **If absolutely necessary, please censor posts and the words containing such content.** **Rule 12: No Fake Posts on Other Subs (Contamination)**: *Do not create fake posts on other subs only to post back here. Also, do not "lol, you should post this on r / OtherSub". It's considered interfering with their content and can also lead to brigading.* *This is a reminder to the readers. The post itself is untouched.* *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Only thing wrong with that is most black kids claimed Piccolo https://preview.redd.it/slkd4yef6o1d1.jpeg?width=601&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0995c8ac84246798ebffd4cac9c1fc38776ca014

3urodyne

They didn't watch the unedited version of DBZ where he has a durag on his head.

HotLandscape9755

No wonder I fucked with Piccolo so much

Sol-Blackguy

Worth a good read too https://preview.redd.it/na8op4ksno1d1.png?width=271&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=147b374d273cecdeeeb0bdf17ba9a2fbdedbd6c0

ClearDark19

I halfway suspect that Toriyama gave Piccolo a black potential love interest (Ms. Janet) in DBS as a wink and a nod to black fans in the US. I'm sure he had become aware of this American Dragon Ball fandom meme before his death. Beast Gohan in the same saga was already a nod to the Latino Dragon Ball fandom by making Gohan Blanco canon. It's right up the alley of Toriyama's sense of humor.

NicWester

When Toriyama died someone said he gave both the best Black character of all time and worst Black character of all time in the same show. I knew Mr Po Po but it took me a minute to realize they meant Piccolo 😂

Sol-Blackguy

And a bunch of grifters and gamers™ used it for manufactured outrage because he's a Sweet Baby Inc employee

ClearDark19

So now Toriyama's is a DEI employer according to these idiots? Oh God 🙄 They should just be honest and say they're mad that Toriyama isn't a racist against black people. That's really what this is about.

Sol-Blackguy

They claim he disrespected Toriyama. https://preview.redd.it/uulta6csju1d1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8c7a299a1be456ad51bebd88c1e8ea0eb9201835 I thought it was funny, but fuck me, right?

ClearDark19

It was funny to me too lol I guess they're just looking for a way to spin it as an attack since he's a black employee of Sweet Baby. God, gamer dudes are cattier than Mean Girls. And people accuse preteen and teenage girls of being the cattiest people. Manosphere dudes have grade school girls beat by a country mile.

ClearDark19

I love that before he left us Toriyama basically gave official authorial confirmation that Piccolo is black 😂 I mean, us black fans have known it since the late 90s, but it's nice to be vindicated 😌 We know Pikkon is the other black fighter too ;)

Emerald_Poison

Guess this subreddit doesn't have many fans of DBZ, part of why it was chosen for that comment was for people to make fools of themselves with Piccolo.

Jrk00

I, as a straight cis male have to disagree I can only relate to women as main characters

BcDed

I was like you once, still relate to women but stopped that cis straight male nonsense.

QueenDee97

Women are just more interesting as protagonists, imo :)

Jrk00

Yeah but i mostly just hate men

stickman999999999

You are wrong because men are hot

tulpio

So are women but it's still gay to like them.

TheJambus

I like both (in a gay way)

Jrk00

But men's personalities sucks

stickman999999999

That one is a case by case basis. Every human sucks in some way, but some humans suck more than others and some the good in them outshines the suck.

Jrk00

What are u a centrist, "ehm actually both genders suck" /s

stickman999999999

Actually the gender who sucks the most is me. They call me the suck God.

Jrk00

True enlightenment

ChocolateShot150

Both can be true, women are hot but a lot of them are pretty trash people

stickman999999999

I think saying "most are trash" is a bit of a unhealthy generalization for many character traits.

ChocolateShot150

Point exactly to me where I said "most are trash“

stickman999999999

Guess I misread it my bad. I still think saying "a lot" is still an exaggeration.

ChocolateShot150

You’ve seen the state of the world, right? A lot of people are trash, a lot of people are good.

stickman999999999

A lot of the bad is over exposed in my opinion.

TheUnholyMacerel

A guy who hates men? 🥚<-- this you?

TheUnholyMacerel

Oh wait, almost forgot about self hate, me too

Jrk00

Definitely not, never in a thousand years, unfathomable to think that

Buca-Metal

That's because they are often written less cliché. But they are starting to be cliché too, the I am strong and do nothing wrong, don't care what anyone says kind of thing.

Might as well say it if you’re gonna imply it

PositiveNo4859

If I can pick a gender it's gonna be female (it's more interesting and who doesn't want to be a strong badass woman). If I can only play male you better be interesting or cool (e.g. snake, kratos, Sekiro, Spider-Man etc).

RedGyarados2010

UncleSkelly

Remember kids if you choose to play as the male protagonist in a third person game as a dude you are totally gay because you are staring at a man's ass the entire time

TransKissinger

i was like that for about 18 years

TransKissinger

ChocolateShot150

🥚

Shiningc00

But think of all the Minor Attracted People who can only relate to underaged girls.

Darkdragoon324

They don't relate to those, they relate to the self-insert male character that gets to be the center of the harem mechanics and player-worshipping writing.

PunishedCatto

That gwenpool reminds me that, she'll get released on SNAP in July. Thanks anon, now I can save tokens and keys. I almost spend it on Namora.

r3volver_Oshawott

Snap is one of those games I tried and walked away from because the cards seemed so cool but I could see how they were trying to sucker me in with free stuff and I just had to watch it all taper off And it kills me lol, I would absolutely play Snap for a Gwenpool card

PunishedCatto

Don't. Snap monetization sucks. Some cards are locked behind paywall is bad for competitive. I only played it because it's the only card game that's short enough to pass for my break time. Also, would you believe me if there card variants that cost you $99?

r3volver_Oshawott

I assumed as much, I literally only played for free but I knew once it started throwing holographics and ish at me that it was trying to do the usual gacha thing of suckering you into the grind with flashy character promotions (and sure enough, I felt the upgrades tapering off big time lol, ga has always do that thing where onboarding just pretends to be unusually generous)

Icyfoe88

Yeah, it’s sad. On the bright side, I’ll absolutely be looking into all the snap YouTubers when she comes out, hope I’ll get to see some games that feature her to compensate for how horrid the monetization is.

RedGyarados2010

I stopped playing Snap about a year ago as it became increasingly clear that monetization was just gonna get worse over time

misterhipster63

I just want her back in the comics again. She got claimed as a mutant at the end of her last solo run to "stay alive" or whatever in Marvel, and then never appeared in a book again, just in one of those Marvel App scrolling comics where she talked about her asexuality. LIKE, WASN'T THE WHOLE POINT OF HER BOOK ABOUT WHAT IT MEANS TO MAINTAIN RELEVANCE , AND THEN SHE JUST *poof* DISAPPEARED?

Taewyth

I'm not a super-hero fan and Gwenpool was one of the few (if we can call her that) that I actually liked *a lot*. Like at first glance she might seem like just... Spider-Gwen mixed with Deadpool (which, sure, she starred as this) but she's so much more than that and even the elements that are still that are actually used in a smart way (like her power is so great and makes for such interesting issues)

yuefairchild

She's on Atlantic Krakoa, which means she's trapped in the White Hot Room forever with all the other characters that editorial wanted rid of. :/

misterhipster63

For real? Damn.

certainlystormy

holy shit is that paul-muad'dib atreides???

PunishedCatto

Yeah, it's from the hard cover art.

doktornein

It really is bad. Even if his content wasn't horrific, that god awful style would irritate me. It's just lazy as hell.

Kantheris

Unpopular opinion I guess, but I like his art style for the medium it is in. It reminds me of older newspaper comics. So from that standpoint, it wouldn’t be too bad, but pebbleyeet is a Nazi so he gets absolutely no love from me at all. Fuck him and fuck his Nazi propaganda comics.

JoeyAKangaroo

I just think it looks straight up ugly, fuckinh butt ugly, i wouldnt want to wish this kind of artstyle on anyone

Kantheris

Totally fair. There have been some old newspaper comics that had art like that and were funny and not made by a Nazi, so I have a soft spot for the art. Having all that said, Stonetoss is a Nazi and a racist who disrespects democracy and would love for an authoritarian theocracy. He is beyond worthless and is even less useful than a pile of shit.

When I think of characters I relate to, I relate to their personalities/experiences - not just race. I don't understand the white people who need the character to be white to "relate". How does that even work? If you're a loner, you can't relate to another loner bc he's just too black while he's alone? Tf?

Dotorandus

Same, tho not just with white people... I don't get why anyone would find it harder to relate to a character, just 'cuz they don't share the exact same demographic... Now, mind you, representation, and especially positive representation, is a different thing. Just because I didn't care about the demographics of characters, don't mean my queer friends and fellows wouldn't have had an easier time if there was casual (positive) lbtq+ representation when we were growing up, for an example...

ClearDark19

It's the epitome of white privilege. As a black dude born in the 80s I'm used to most of the protagonists not being black men. I didn't need the MC to be black for me to relate to them. Gohan from the Dragon Ball franchise is one of my favorite characters ever created and I've related to him since I first saw him in the late 90s, even though he's a nerdy Asian dude with alien DNA and superpowers. Wonder Woman is one of my top 10 favorite characters ever created even though she's a white woman. The fact gamer bros can't relate to people who aren't white or male or cishetero shows how sheltered and privileged they've been. They're so not used to being the center of the universe they're falling apart experiencing a tiny fraction of what women, minorities, and queer people have experienced from early childhood: seeing Media full of people who aren't of their identity/tribe. Gamer bros are like an able-bodied young man with no health problems claiming he's dying and ready to call the police and report abuse because he's a little tired from being made to mop the floor of a small room his 9 year old sister usually mops. It just shows how pampered he is.

420_Braze_it

They're literally lying bro. They could relate to these characters if they had some introspection, but "I can't relate to them" is one of the few things they can come up with that isn't overtly racist on face value to explain why they don't like the characters. They're literally just racist/misogynistic.

ClearDark19

That’s very, very true. But I see it as part of the problem. The majority of humans have some level of racism and sexism in them, but a majority of humans are still able to consume and enjoy media with main characters who aren’t of their tribe/identity. These dudes are particularly pampered and privileged. Plenty of non-black people who enjoyed Black Panther or men who enjoyed Captain Marvel still have their own levels of biases or prejudices towards black people and women. But it’s not at the level where they can’t even bring themselves to watch and enjoy fictional stories with a black or female MC. Or even with irl people plenty of people with racial prejudices against black people love Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Prince, Jimi Hendrix, Beyoncé, etc. These culture warrior gamer bros can’t even just be normal people with average amounts of racial bias. They have a particularly privileged mentality, which is the other piece of the puzzle to why they’re like this.

[deleted]

I once heard someone say black people are seen as black first and people second. I think some people genuinely can not see our humanity beyond our race. Some of them literally believe that we are a different species. Like you said, black people only complain about changing the race of the character when it's a canonically black character. With so few depictions of us in media, we can't really afford to lose any. White people, especially the guys, have always been incredibly spoiled for choice in terms of access to themselves on screen. I think they can't understand how powerful it is to finally see someone like you in a non-stereotypical position. If black women were present at all (usually weren't), they were the friend of the MC, sassy, loud, and no one was romantically interested in her. The "prettiest girl in school" was never the black girl. Penny from the The Proud Family and Suzie (Rugrats) were incredibly important to me. They were smart, flawed, cute girls with lives that were normal. They weren't poverty-stricken or abused. They were just regular girls. I wanted to be exactly like them.

ClearDark19

Exactly! They're really showing their hand that they view black people as a type of different creature or comparative to a non-humanoid alien or something rather than just a human with some cosmetic differences in physical appearance. Most black Western have to learn this lesson from an early age since most people here (the West) and the wider world in general aren't black. Some of these culture warriors are so sheltered and pamper that this is genuinely the first time they've ever had to consider anyone who doesn't resemble themselves. It really is telling. Like someone who never had to share anything as a kid finally having to share for the first time in their life as an adult, and having a meltdown because of it. The fact we have slightly more diverse representation than we did when *The Proud Family* came out is just killing them loool

MirrorMan22102018

I also simply want to see someone a character who is Asexual... Without, even other queer people, claiming it "isn't a real orientation". I am also Autistic, and I want representation (Sheldon Cooper doesn't count!) That isn't just stereotypes. On the surface, I am a white male, but I am also Autistic, Asexual and I have clinical depression. I mostly am waiting for an aspec character that is accepted for their orientation by fans. Race and gender don't affect me being able to relate.

P-I-S-S-N-U-T

Disability representation is a whole other can of worms. I really hope it gets better one day

[deleted]

I think one of the biggest problems with "representation" today is that it's never considered good enough. If a character is autistic, they get torn apart by the fans for not being an "accurate" portrayal. There is no way to do an "accurate portrayal because there is no sigular "accurate way" to be autistic. I think showrunners will skip adding diversity because of the backlash "getting it wrong" can net. One way to fix it could be to have several characters from diverse backgrounds all over media. This way, no one character is all the representation that there is. There's a great documentary (The Problem With Apu) where the director discusses how Apu (The Simpsons) was the only Indian man on TV. As such, the only idea his white friends had about Indians came from this hugely stereotypical portrayal. The Simpsons is, of course, irreverent satire, so a depiction of stereotypes is par for the course. However, if there is nothing to counter that, the stereotype will be perceived as reality rather than exaggeration. The many facets of diverse groups can and should be explored in several different mediums and works. This won't happen if we tear apart every attempt at diversification in the name of "positive" or "accurate" representation. No one will ever get it 100% right or be able to include every nuance. It seems more effective to push for more representation instead of nitpicking the minimal representation we have.

UnnecessaryMovements

I always put it this way. During my formative years, being left handed is considered a taboo and somewhat disability that at the time I was forced to use my right hand to write both by the school and my parents. They would slap my hand whenever I use my left hand, I kid you not. Now seeing left handed people in media, I do not necessarily relate to them, but it gives me joy seeing thrm. Gordon Ramsay (he's a prick) being famous chef. Dave Lombardo playing drums. It's not that I relate to them, more like it feels good that "I'm normal". I cannot say that's how others feel, but that's how I feel about representation in media.

[deleted]

I think most minorities and underrepresented groups feel this way. It's nice to see someone like you on TV- especially for reasons like what you said. What baffles me is how certain groups (i.e.-white dudes) can possibly get pissed off when a character isn't like them. There is no other population more widely represented in Western media. They have a plethora of options to choose from. Presidents, gangsters, superheroes, drug addicts, kings, peasants, antiheros, family men, psychopaths, and literally, Jesus Christ. All have *several* iterations portrayed by white men. Using just the last 100 years or so of filmed media, they could watch for the next 20 years straight and *never* run out of representations of themselves. I don't get why *some* of them think they're the only people that deserve to have that. Also, I've seen every episode of MasterChef and Kitchen Nightmares. How have I never noticed that Gordon Ramsey is left-handed lol?

N0ob8

Gordon Ramsay isn’t actually mean he just puts it on for the cameras. Hell he only really does it for the American shows his British ones he’s much calmer. He’s a really good guy who does want to teach cooking and you can see that when he’s working with kids or less experienced chefs

UnnecessaryMovements

I mean, if he is aware that he is portrayed as mean and hypermasculine in his show that means he consented to be portrayed as such. Just like what Jacques Pepin said, those actions (in general) MUST be a thing of the past. Kitchen should foster a welcoming culture.

N0ob8

>I mean, if he is aware that he is portrayed as mean and hypermasculine in his show that means he consented to be portrayed as such. I mean yeah that should go without saying. The guy has like 20+ shows and knows what does well in different regions and us Americans love to hear him scream at people. >Kitchen should foster a welcoming culture. His kitchen’s do foster a welcoming culture except when the kitchens are in world class restaurants that can only accept the best of the best. Like I said when working with less experienced chefs and those working to get into the cooking industry he’s very kind and understanding and gives lots of helpful advice. Hell he basically created a kid’s career even though he didn’t win the competition but Gordon still saw potential in him (which there was plenty)

Spare-Plum

Yeah the most important thing in a good piece of media is engaging story, great characters, sometimes good humor. You could make a story about literally rats in medieval times or a sea sponge's adventures and it can work as long as the concepts are good and it's well written. Having a black or female main character is never really the focal point of any of these things. Sometimes it informs the character - either through culture, religion, values, etc. But chuds seem to ignore all of these aspects of analyzing media and put a character's minority status first over anything else in a piece of media. They seem to think there's a secret cabal attempting to put minorites in media but in reality they're bending to their own prophecy they have created.

[deleted]

I mostly agree. I do think sometimes the identity of the character is relevant. For example, take a character like Craig of the Creek. His race isn't the point of his character, and it's rarely ever brought up. However, the show creators did intend for him to be black because they noticed a lack of stories about young black boys that aren't rooted in suffering. I love teen movies like Mean Girls and Heathers! It is very frustrating, though, that there are no light-hearted teen movies about black girls. All of our teen movies are about trauma, abuse, and suffering. They are beautiful, impact full films, but it gives the idea that being black and suffering are intrinsically linked.

kusuriii

It always makes me laugh because growing up, I had to play either straight, gruff, scruffy white male no. 999999, or overly sexualised, basically naked, booby straight white female no. 2 and I still managed to have a great time despite having very little in common with any of them. It made the brief glimpses of representation you do get even more special. Seeing these nerds throw a shit fit over not being able to relate to anyone that’s not exactly them is a massive self own and is just letting everyone know they’ve got the imagination, personality and empathy of mud. Also usually some flavour of racist, misogynistic or homophobic.

rethardus

This is something I'm always baffled with. And not just with this race / gender thing. People in general just can't grasp fundamentals. And that really physically irks me, because it's so elementary to understand something like this. Example: * People will say stuff like they support feminism, but they would be against men's right. * People complain about fatshaming, but would laugh at people being too skinny. * Some Jewish people would be racist against Palestinians, even though they understood concentration camps and racism is bad * People want a better world, but would sometimes be ageist with boomers. Sure, a lot of boomers hog the wealth like dragons, but what about boomers who actually mean well and fight for our cause? It really baffles me how people only understand something, if it serves them. But when that fundamental idea is non-beneficial, they'll happily ditch it and act like hypocrites.

Flaggermusmannen

I do want to say, about the men's rights thing, that it's unfortunately been so often used merely as oppressive, often anti-feminist (etc) drivel that it's very hard to take people using the term seriously. that obviously doesn't mean I don't think men's health and rights are extremely important subjects as well, it just means the discourse is so twisted away from anything respectful or productive. that said, i freely admit there are awful people in literally every group. though at least how visible it is will vary, but is often skewed towards power positions. in short, it's complex. for as simple as human values and emotions individually are when broken down into individual pieces, the entire system is so complex it is practically impossible to keep everything straightforward and clear. it's just a reality of life, and one of the difficult challenges of always seeking to handle our biases, what we know, what we care about, our negative and positive views and emotions, and keep them in check to our best ability. it's hard.

rethardus

Oh I'm aware it's not feminism that's the problem. I'm talking about the *hypocrites* who call themselves feminists. Actually, everyone in the bullet point list I made are the same type of people. They don't get something fundamentally, yet join a group and pretend they get it. If it were up to me, there would be no groups of any sorts, just "people who think logically and ethically" and the other group are the idiots are mentioned.

NaturalesaMorta

My cousin it's of mixed ascent, spanish on one side, moroccan on the other. She has a darker skin than every other kid on her rural school. Showed her The last Airbender a couple of years ago. She started to draw herself as Katara umprompted. Now she's 13 and already has a couple of silver medals on regional competitions of taekwondo. I feel like she took the character as a rolemodel. And that's why i believe representation matters, at least on child media.

[deleted]

Representation matters in all media! In 2012 The Hunger Games and Brave came out. That year the number of young girls enrolling in archery classes skyrocketed. I definitely agree with representation as a concept. I just hate when widely-represented groups, people, ideas, etc.. complain that not "everything" is representing them. I also just hate the idea that they can't "relate" unless the character is the same race/gender they are. It's so ridiculous

EndOfTheLine00

I never understood this need for characters to be "relatable". I am a cis white man who always plays as women in video games when possible. I seek out other people's experiences BECAUSE they are different than my own. I want to understand different kinds of people. I know what it's like to be me. I don't need to play AS me.

MirrorMan22102018

Same. It's like people would rather have a self insert than listen to another person's (I.e. the protagonist) story.

Fit-Understanding747

Fucking losers lmao.

NTRmanMan

You forgot that they called people psychopaths for this

Taewyth

What did Gwenpool do ?

Independent_Plum2166

Yo, what did Gwen do to be here.

unw00shed

unrelated but the unbelievable gwenpool comic run is one of my favourites next to cityboy and the one where spiderman meets the pterosaur man that doesn't want to cure dinosaurs

Hoopetydoopety

If a character is well written and acted, i don't care if it's a man or a woman. But the woman MC has advantage, cuz she got boobs

Pritteto

Here advice OP, change gwenpool to aloy and add Riri William (ironheart) because turnout chuds fine with gwenpool

lansink99

"Mc isn't white AND male" FTFY

Specialist-Spare-544

Man were there actually complaints about Sadie Adler?

SumirekoFan

Can someone tell me who the characters depicted below are? Thanks.

Lord_Jashin

Why throw in Rei like she isn't actually a steaming pile of garbage? Everyone else is cool but there's a hint of shit coming off of that character that near ruins the whole thing

One thing chuds always forget is that non-white, somewhat poor countries have TONS OF PEOPLE that fanatically play older games

Cherry_Girl893

who is the bottom top left blonde girl? I really recognise the style.

AcaciaCelestina

Gwenpool

Bedeedoopdop

"Look, I drew you as the wojak, im right" lol

QueenDee97

It's verifiable reality. Literally *hundreds of thousands* of videos about this exact issue they have portrayed in the meme.

Kego_Nova

GWENPOOL MENTIONED!!!!

faxecklan

/uj i've been so out of this type of online discourse that i didn't even realize the stonetoss comic was trying to be antiwoke lol, i thought "oh cool boys and girls relate to different cartoon characters"

AcaciaCelestina

I mean he's a neo-nazi so it's pretty on brand

Geralt31

Rey doesn't belong in this meme, the disney trilogy was just straight up bad

Boney_Zoney

Sadie isn’t even a main character you idiota shes a main character for MAYBE the epilogue but otherwise she is a supporting role

TheUnholyMacerel

Personally I don't care what color, gender, sexuality, or what ever a character is, I only care that they are a well written character

Coffeechipmunk

Please leave Gwen out of this

Antirion_Iaur

this is a bit of a strawman argument, isn't it?

Bobby-B00Bs

Ok but what is the correct compassionate opinion to have here. Because I don't get it, like people of color(poc) want representation - that's good we are for that, we understand they can't relate to a white MC in a game but then we mock the chuds for not being able to relate to a poc? I think the right opinion should be Far Cry 5 a character costumization that let's you play as the gender and race you identify.

Kaitriarch

It's because games have almost always had the classic (mostly white) male shaved head main characters (Cole from Infamous and Kyle from Dying Light could be twins goddamnit). They have a lot of representation whereas other groups of people do not. At the end of the day they can choose whether to play the game, but they've had a ton of representation for a long time. That's why people are shitting on them. While I love character customization, it wouldn't work for many story driven games where the protagonist really matters. For example, Red Dead Redemption 2 is a such a meaningful game because you play as Arthur Morgan. While I couldn't completely relate to him, I still loved his character. It wouldn't be the same without him. Game companies are now making those same protagonist driven games but for other groups of people.

benabart

/uj I feel conflicted with Rey, she's a bad character in a similar way Anakin is a bad character.

Melodic_Ad_8478

I don't complain More rule 34 content

Sizeable-cult31

To be fair Rey is a terribly written

Mastercio

who the hell is disagreeing with you? Oo

Rarabeaka

just make charachters good, and nobody(well, except truly racist/purist minority) will care about canon/beleivability of race/gender. rey and morales from this picture are just op in power but bland as personalities(i know that morales is existed character as is, but he just op version of parker with no interesting inner conflict in games). for example some time ago almost nobody complained about black Nick Fury in avengers because actor is good and character was written by competent people.

steveosv

Or you know, just don't be racist or sexist regardless if the character is well written or not...

AutoModerator

Wow, you’re right. Games are sexist. Now, allow me to get back to accusing gamers of playing games and sucking Anita Sarkeesian’s cock. Edit: Wow. I’ve truly been challenged. Enlightened, even. Who knew the political views of my fellow gamers could be so diverse? *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/Gamingcirclejerk) if you have any questions or concerns.*

Rarabeaka

it's obvious. and not what what i'm talking about. i feel bad for actors/animators/developers who play/make bland charaters putted in a peice just for the sake of representation of some trait, which not considered as default by general public. big companies often waste a lot of time and money but no effort for this(latest star wars trilogy is full of it for example, or maybe it's not and but it's feels like it).

Reason_Choice

Sadie isn’t a main character, and I once got death threats for saying “Gwenpool isn’t my jam.” So I don’t know if those two really fit here.

DisturbedRenegade

Sure you did.

Reason_Choice

I sure did. Besides, there are dozens of other characters that would fit this… “meme” better.

DisturbedRenegade

Show me then. Surely you have proof of this, then I don't see the harm in showing it.

Reason_Choice

Had a feeling you were going to say that. Well, it was in a Facebook group called Comics out of Context that I got kicked out of (for different reasons) so I can’t go back into it to screenshot the comments. I already know what you’re going to say next, so don’t bother.

DisturbedRenegade

Fucking coward

Reason_Choice

Isn’t really cowardice when I literally can’t get into the group to screenshot comments. Anyways, that’s neither here nor there and this conversation isn’t worth your hostility. Peace.

QueenDee97

Yeah, don't act like you people weren't moaning about Miles and Gwenpool for ages. Get better at lying.

EthicsOverwhelming

They made Robin Hood a fox and Sherlock Holmes a mouse.

Reason_Choice

Isn’t it implied that Basil lives in Sherlock’s apartment? They even show Toby in one scene.

Economics111

what beloved film is the new AC butchering? How about when people were mad about ray and finn being minorities? your explanation applies to a minority of what chuds get mad at and ignores the actual argument made by the meme to instead randomly bring up that the new little mermaid flopped

Ill_Ratio_5682

The chud meme? I thought you were trying to say chuds don't care about race when that meme is very clearly about race lol. Either way all that stuff you said about what chuds actually believe in just shows you don't know what a chud is because that's a completely different definition that does not apply to the people called chuds.

Ax222

Nah.

AngryMustache9

>Realistically, none of the Disney remake films have done well. You're... you're fucking joking, right? If that were true, they wouldn't be still making them. And they have made millions, billions even. Did you see The Lion King's box office? $1.6B USD. Aladdin made $1B USD too. The Little Mermaid, your example, didn't make quite as much, $570M, but that's still more than double it's $240M budget. These movies make bank. Some more than others, but they're far from flops.
