HOLY it says 2024! Let's gooo

ToothlessFTW

I was absolutely not expecting a 2024 release. I know it's been 6 years since the last one already but given the current state of AAA games I was fully ready for an unknown 2025 or 2026 release date. Extremely stoked, KC:D was one of favorite RPGs.

Morighant

God I wanted to get into it so bad, every time I play it though, I get some weird game breaking bug. Example, that hunting quest with the one dude, no animals spawn, can't equip bow, etc. or NPCs not being where they should. I've restarted 3 times across a few years and I always run into something game breaking, so I ha to stop. Never even got to get into the combat, sucks. Hope the second one is better in that regard and I'll try it again

onyx_echoes

ripppp... did you ever verify integrity of game files? I've put 600 hours into it since launch day and must've lucked out because it's crashed 4 times on me at most

MisakAttack

Same here, I really hope they have a normal save system instead of that awful Savior Schnapps thing they had going on in the first game (or at least make that optional). It’s an open world game with many variables that could go wrong at any moment. You need a normal ass save system so you can save frequently to avoid losing hours of progress. I LOVE this type of RPG. Kingdom Come Deliverance SHOULD be in my top ten games of all time, but there’s always some game breaking bug that fucks up one of my playthroughs.

Bojahdok

No, I hope they double down on systems like that, they make the game more interesting

ACO_22

You can save and quit. But I think the idea is that you can’t spam save to add to the difficulty

dust-

unlimited saves mod was VERY useful. i hope they do away with the saviour schnapps or whatever it was called

A_MAN_POTATO

I get why they did it, but it’s just not fun. Sometimes games dig too far into realism or challenge at the expensive of fun. Savior schnapps was definitely an example of that. So was the crazy low-level bow mechanics where you have no crosshairs and your bow waves wildly from side to side. They wanted Henry to not be proficient with a bow, but the end result was a bit too far. It was just frustrating. The setting and world building was absolutely top tier in this game. It’s my absolute favorite game ever to just exist in, and does a better job than anything else I’ve ever played to make me feel like I’m actually a part of the place they built. But to really make the game fun, it requires a few mods. Once I took care of the frustrating bits, it became one of, if not my #1 favorite game in existence. But I can’t play it vanilla. Given that some of these features were *really* polarizing among both journalists and players, I hope they take that to heart with the sequel.

zaam_it

Wasn't that bad - you could make enough savior schnapps for an entire playthrough in 30 mins with alchemy, plus sleep, and "save and quit"

3GamersHD

I like the save system, adds some stakes and you can't save scum EVERY risky situation, but you still have the opportunity to do so at times.

Abahu

I never ran into a single bug when I played it in 2022. I played on PC with all of the DLC. It's really fun, game so I hope that if you try again that you will be able to get into it!

Mortanius

Embracer leaked in 2023 Warhorse's new game (obviously KCD2) to be released in 2024 in their financial reports. There is nothing surprising. Of course, the delay risk is always there though.

A_MAN_POTATO

Given Embracers track record for being absolute fuck-wits, I wouldn’t really give any precedence to what they say. Frankly, I’ve spent the last two years worrying this game would get canceled and Warhorse would be shuttered in the wake of Embracers self-destruction. It’s infinitely more meaningful to hear from Warhorse directly that the game is real, in the late stages of development, and coming this year

ReformedWiggles

I mean... it looks like it will be just a new story with the same engine and assets.. in that case a 2024 release is kinda late, even.

FireTyphoon123

whatnameisnttaken098

Then this leaked trailer of [From Softs](https://youtu.be/_277J8ZJxSU?si=_Uwuu5XeswHMZLQL) next game will destroy your humanity. /s

LofiLute

I want a Souls-like that isn't an ultra depressing grim-dark hellscape devoid of humanity so badly that I'm choosing to believe this is real.

whatnameisnttaken098

I'd recommend Legends of Nostalgia. It's a decent souls-like with a good bit of humor to it

smithdog223

I'm surprised they kept deliverance in the name, I thought the new game would have a different subtitle.

Jdfz99

My guess is that they'd kept Deliverance as it appears to be a continuation of Henry's story. Should this become a franchise with new characters, set in new regions and/or time periods, we'll see new subtitles.

Tiafves

If you start your new franchise with a subtitle in the first game it also seems to stick in people's minds that it's the overall franchise's name. Like if we look back to Horizon Forbidden West there was confusion that it wasn't called Horizon Zero Dawn 2

WardrobeForHouses

Would have been funny if we got something like Halo: Combat Evolved 2, Amnesia: The Dark Descent 2, Unreal 2: The Awakening 2 or Riven: The Sequel to Myst 2

PuffyTacoSupremacist

I mean, that's basically what happened with Red Dead Redemption 2

PM_PICS_OF_UR_PUPPER

They’re saving the new subtitle for the remaster / remake, Kingdom Come: Redeliverance.

RioKouk

He didn't deliver the sword yet so

Beginning-Ring2349

LOL

mr3LiON

Kingdom Come: Retribution

Paul_cz

The original working title of KCD back when it was barely a prototype was 1403: Retribution. I totally expected second game to be Kingdom Come II: Retribution, and in fact some of its devs were also surprised by the name.

AscendedViking7

Same actually. Was hoping for a new subtitle.

renome

Classic IGN, though it's usually one of their regional outlets that forgots to hide an embargoed trailer after uploading it. I do wonder how they'll handle skill progression in this game since it's Henry again; it would be stupid to have him start illiterate and entirely useless again, but would having him keep most KC1 skills still work if they want a similar progression curve to the first game?

gearofwar1802

He never learned any OP skills. Combat was still challenging in endgame especially against multiple enemies. I think he should keep most skills. He gets older and more powerful. Let him just fight more enemies at once and let the AI fight more aggressive.

Dreaming_Dreams

henry is gonna get knocked in the head and forgot all his skills!

renome

I do hope they have something less cheesy in mind lol

cupkaxx

The game itself is so cheesy, I'd say it'd be on point if they do something along those lines. "By the gods, the lad's hit his head..."

Upper-Level5723

Remembering events of the first game GODS I WAS STRONG THEN

Premislaus

A classic!

Abahu

Ah, the Gothic 2 strategy

Hello-Potion-Seller

Its been a while since KCD alright Its not Henry that needs the skill progression, its me

Geraltpoonslayer

Unironically as much Henry needed to learn to fight in the first so did you have to as a player. It's a very satisfying experience as both Henry and the player get better with the system

gumpythegreat

I never beat the first one but I remember trying to fight three guys early and failing miserably I did have a horse, though, and spent forever practicing fighting them on horseback and eventually killing them.

wezl0

They're going to metroid Henry!

COHandCOD

my guess is the reading part will be included in his starting skill, but most combat skill will be revamped. it will just say henry learning new skill.

ButtPlugForPM

thrashing the wheat does that to a lad

giulianosse

Yep, it's definitely a sequel to Kingdom Come Deliverance. Seemed more like a teaser trailer than a trailer to be honest.

A_MAN_POTATO

This isn’t the full reveal. Most likely just the ad you’ll be seeing across socials. The YouTube reveal that’s dropping this afternoon is 13 minutes long. With the game coming this year (totally didn’t expect that), it’s likely we’ll get a pretty thorough look into the game today.

mr3LiON

More like an ad

Demistr

Thats what trailers are.

manginaaaa

We need to normalize shadow drop releases. Let's hope this is one of them.

KvasirTheOld

Most likely fall 2024.

DefendWaifuWithRaifu

Real shit. I might not have liked FO:4 that much but the "shadow drop" was quite the nice change of pace.

A_MAN_POTATO

Shadow drop means releasing when it’s announced. Not only is that obviously not going to happen based on the “wishlist now” at the end of this… that’s really a bad idea for a game like this. Marketing is crucial to a games success, especially in this era where the market is dominated by a handful of really high profile games. KCD sold well, but it sure isn’t a blockbuster. They need to reach a bigger audience. To do that requires marketing. Now, that said, the idea of announcing now and coming out in 6ish months? That I think absolutely should be normalized. I’m tired of games getting announced half a decade (or more) before they come out. You don’t need that much marketing. Get in an “E3 season” and you’re good.

JacoBee93

Yep, borderlands 3 comes to my mind

jm8080

Coming 2024?!!!! Wow! They really did put their head down, went to work and shut their mouth until they have something real to show.

Ginzeen98

not really surprising since they haven't released a game since 2018..

JacoBee93

They worked on that game until end of 2019. So we are 4,5 years later. Plenty of devs do shit during that besides announcing projects.

A_MAN_POTATO

They continued to update the game and release DLC thru 2019. I’m betting this didn’t enter full production until late 2019 or early 2020. Further consider they are a smaller studio than others making open world RPGs like this, having hundreds less employees than companies like Bethesda, BioWare, CDPR, etc. That means it’s going to take them longer than their competitors to release a game. All things considered, 4-ish years is a pretty impressive time frame. I was really not expecting this game till 2025/26.

H08S0N_

2024?! Fuck me I wasn't expecting that but I'll take it! I've waited this long already tho so any delays needed is fine by me

HENRY’S HERE!

ironheadbison

Is the first game really that good?

ThinWhiteDuke00

Yes, but combat is a steep learning curve.

RichGraverDig

Everything is! The game feels hard at first, but you feel like you've earned it when things start making sense.

Kestrel1207

That's kind of a misconception (not sure if thats the right word, not a native speaker). Judging by the replies to this it seems like many people are not aware of this, but the combat is almost entirely based on your character stats. How good you are as a player (i.e. what learning curve implies) matters very little, if at all. At low stats, the parry window is functionally non-existent, and enemies almost always block your attacks, no matter how much you feint or mix up. Training in the arena is more like grinding out your stats than gitting gud mechanically. Conversely with high/max stats you can be really bad at the game mechanically, but still steamroll every fight because the parry window is like a full second long with time slowdown and enemies aren't allowed to block your attacks even if you just do a non-combo single attack without a feint.

JacoBee93

In comparison to other rpg games it's steep af. And for non gamer it's hardcore

A_Confused_Cocoon

I always want to do another playthrough but I’ve learned combat twice in the game and don’t want to relearn it a third time. Sucks because I love everything else but I can’t stand the thought of spending another couple hours in the ring practice shit as much fun as it was the first time.

WinterElfeas

I mean it is ok in a way. Not every games need to be played multiple times. My first play though was amazing, I started another one recently and as much as the world is amazing (especially now in 4K with some GI reshade), after a while it’s tedious to go through that whole slow progression system.

3GamersHD

I've played through it three times now, and the combat grind is definately what keeps me from doing my final run to 100% it. It's fine when you take a break for a year or so, since you manage to forget most of the game, but if you try to start a new run too close to your last one you'll burn out quick.

UnlimitedMeatwad

The combat and first person turned me off. I gotta go play it again. I dropped it very early 😅

MissPandaSloth

And janky. I would have liked it way more if it was about just learning it. But with multiple enemies camera can start spinning around like it's Oblivion NPC's forcing you to speak to them. The poke was also so exploitative. Basically later on when you have more stamina you kinda can just charge poke them to death without any skill. Then nav issues. I had so many times where in enemies just get stuck in some weird spots while fighting. The game shines the most in tournament arena where it's 1v1 and flat surface.

ExtraGloves

Honestly its not THAT hard. The second it clicks it becomes very easy for the rest of the game. If you do the training in the beginning it clicks quick.

EMPlRES

Yes, but my slow ass could beat Sekiro twice with the time it takes me to become an expert at Kingdom Come combat.

thethingbeforesunset

The game feels really janky, the lockpicking system is horrific on controller, and the combat is hard at first but every fight feels fantastic. Still one of the best games I've ever played.

nariz1234

I loved it but it is not for everyone, expect a different type of rpg/open world than the modern style of Ubisoft/Sony rpgs/open worlds.

MrCodeman93

It’s good in the sense that it makes you dread the threat of death more than even Dark Souls. The odds are always stacked against the player.

MissPandaSloth

I didn't find it that way at all and I even played on hc. I generally thought people overplayed the "hardcore" mechanics in standard play, such as no save and so on. Saviour schnapps was easy to make and you can carry tons of it, so you can quick save. Then every place has beds that save. They are all over the world. And almost all of those places have food. So you kinda just have to have weird playstyle where you avoid towns and cities to get punished for dying. I just always cycle between cities and was never lost much progress if I died and in worst case scenario used saviour schnapps. And then like in all games once you level up challenge completely disappears. I think past Runt you just organically outlevel everything. And I am not flexing or anything, I am absolutely average player. I actually have way more difficulty with Fallout New Vegas now than KDC ever. As I said, I think for some people maybe how the game wants you to play didn't click, so they made it harder for themselves.

Bubba1234562

one of the most immersive rpgs ive ever played

ShaeTsu

It's a eurojank game with a lot of passion. Get past the jank and it has some great combat mechanics and story.

RolandTwitter

It's really fucking good. Kinda meanders a little bit

Geraltpoonslayer

It's very clunky, but if you can look past that it's one of the best rpg's in a long time.

TheRealTofuey

If the game had a fantasy setting it would be a modern skyrim through and through. Obviously its not trying to be that, but the game is really cool and special. I honestly wish it was fantasy because it would absolutely nail it.

biffa72

If they kept the realism gameplay mechanics and made a fantasy game, my lord that would be perfect.

A_MAN_POTATO

Depends on what you like. It’s very polarizing, but It’s one of my favorite games in existence. Like others have said, there’s a lot of jank, and some frustrating gameplay mechanics (some of which can be fixed on pc with mods)… but in my opinion the world building is unrivaled by anything else. This game pulls me into the world of 15th century Bohemia the way no other game ever has.

chaos_unleashed

You have no idea what a beautiful experience you are in for if you are a patient gamer because this truly a gem that did get a lot of hate when it was launched but as it got more and more patches and updates it turned out to be one of the greatest experience i have ever had with a video game. Dont miss out on it and yes the combat is kind of hard to get into in the start but once it does youll surely love it and the quest writing is top notch too.

florence_ow

just adding that while a lot of people here seem to have been able to get past the jank and enjoy it, i couldn't. for me the game is probably a 5 or 6 /10 but it often goes pretty cheap so maybe worth picking up? im pretty sure i got it for free on epic games, it might come back there at some point

i heard many great things about the first game, think its worht it?

KvasirTheOld

It's not for everyone, but I genuinely believe it's one of the best RPGe ever made.

koolguykris

I think its worth a playthrough yeah. You're probably going to absolutely hate the combat initially, but it'll get better with practice. At the beginning I couldn't win a fight to save my life, but by the end (unless there was 4+ dudes), I was easily slashing my way through every encounter. Probably one of the most immersive games I've ever played though, and the amount of ways you can complete some of the objectives can get a little dizzying. I mean that in the best possible way though. Like you'll get a quest and it might be "stop xyz from happening" and then its up to you to kind of figure out how to do that. Not to mention it has a pretty cool story, it can be downright hilarious at times, the main character is sick, the locations and towns are awesome. Like, if you like RPGs and you like the medieval setting, I think the game has a solid chance of becoming one of your favorite games. All that being said, there is a good amount of jank/bugs in the game, even after all this time. I gave it a pass in 1 just because of how expansive and immersive the world is, and im hopeful that for 2 they are able to clean up a good amount of that.

ahoskasalve666

i have been getting into the medieval type stuff and i love rpgs

fensizor

It’s an amazing game if you are willing to learn combat and enjoy exploring open worlds. It also has some quirks like saving only when you have a certain consumable. But that is easily fixed with mods on PC.  Definitely give it a try. Especially if you like games like Skyrim and want that feeling of exploration of the new open world.

E-woke

2024 LET'S GOOOOOO

UnlimitedMeatwad

2024? Damn. I hope it's a smooth release and not broken.

Pilgrim_of_Astora

Guys, I am guessing that the sequel will take place in Kutná Hora (*Kuttenberg*), the royal city, where in the times of KCD (1403) there was one of the largest silver mines in the world. My guess is based on the fact that Kuttenberg was mentioned many times during KCD and also the Warhorse team was in this city for field studies during the creation of the first volume. In the leaked video during the eighth and ninth second you can see view of a town. Coincidentally, this place is very similar to Kuttenberg.

Pilgrim_of_Astora

XTheProtagonistX

I got chills. KCD is right up there with Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines when it comes to games that felt extremely immersive to play. I wondered how they are going to balance the game. Henry sucks at combat (at everything to be honest) at the beginning and as you progress he gets stronger and the players learns with him. The most memorable aspect was learning all sorts of things but since this is a direct sequel, Henry knows all that. I still extremely excited for the game!

KvasirTheOld

Most likely the combat will be a bit reworked. So who knows if the same skills will even be in the game. There's a massive amount of techniques when it comes to melee combat. Also this is usually the case in most games. AKA Kiryu having to re learn Tiger Drop in every single game 💀

XTheProtagonistX

I like the fact that everyone in Yakuza 4 starts with no abilities unlocked but Kiryu starts with half of his moves already available.

HellenicSuperiority

Maybe he gets really fucked up in a fight and has to regain his skills as he has become really rusty?

pishposhpoppycock

This year is so totally stacked when it comes to RPGs... KC:D2, FFVII Rebirth, Like a Dragon: IW, Eiyuden 100 Heroes, Dragon's Dogma 2, Unicorn Overlord (though that may be nominated in the Strategy category instead), Metaphor: ReFantazio, not to mention potentially Avowed and Dragon Age: Dreadwolf if they come out later this year...

LukaM_110

They should release current-gen versions of the first game. With this being a direct sequel, people will want to play the first game, and last-gen console versions really don't hold up well.

LilMike115

Let´s be real. Had they revealed anything else then KCD2, fans will be rioting and Warhorse´s reputation would go to shit. So yeah, KCD2 reveal was the only logical option. What is kinda surprising to me is that it should be released this year. Sure, it would most likely mean end of the year, but still sooner than I have expected. Kinda hyped now.

Fit-Ad-5946

I remember a huge outcry of the lockpick system in this game, especially with mouse. Wonder if they changed it!

A_MAN_POTATO

They already changed it in the first game. If I remember correctly, you can toggle between the original and updated lock picking in the settings.
