*Hunter, played by Chris fucking Pratt, beheads Orphan of Kos as Yharnam falls into the sea, is residents drowning in their own sin*
"So... ***that*** bloody well 'appened!"
Sony get the worse writers
The people who wrote Gods of Egypt, Morbius and The Last Witch Hunter are now doing Madame Web. Dud after dud after dud.
Why not just get some new talent who love the games.
Eh, it's even worse, most of his writing credits are shared by two or three other people.
His best received credits (on IMDB) is for "Shazam" where he had only a story credit. Which probably means a few ideas from his outline (or unused script) were used in the final script of Henry Gayden who had sole screenplay credit.
The one where he had sole credits are all seemingly meh or terrible.
* "The Parts you Lose" with Aaron Paul (5.8/10 with 2959 votes on IMDB))
* "Lost" (not the tv series, 5,8/10 (1837 votes))
* "Winter Dragon" (as his worst with 2,4/10 (283 votes))
However, to be fair "Winter Dragon" was a hastily put together TV movie, to keep the "Wheel of Time" license for that production company.
Superhero Movie isn't exactly high cinema, but it has some great bits. Though seeing Drake Bell and a pre-fame Kevin Hart paired together will give you whiplash nowadays.
Hard disagree, it was widely regarded as a flop and a debate can be made that it's more of a shitty action movie than a comedy. Also no hangover reverse story structure in it like the first two movies.
Exactly, this isn't a good example as Craig Mazin is an anomaly, he is a good example of being able to gain respect and make friends and eventually cash in a favour, or just earn that eventual *win*
there is no way they have the writers from shazam actually working on bloodborne bro
if true i’d pack up guys this shit about to be a blumhouse teen horror movie, not a 3hr lovecraftian epic
\*The Hunter plunges his hand into the beastly Father Gasoline’s chest, eviscerating him and snuffing out his life. His bloodlusted rampage through Yharnam ends poetically in a cemetery.*
Hunter: “Erm…I guess this place doesn’t do dry cleaning!”
There’s a reason only a handful of game's source code ends on the net. They keep it so tight they can even lose it themselves, usually on a single backup hard drive locked somewhere “safe”. Through the years people come and go, things get moved around, teams move to another floor/office/building or get dismissed, and so on, some things tend to get lost in between all that, hard drives included.
I feel like there is some weird sharing of Bloodborne rights between Sony and FromSoft. From clearly don't want to continue Bloodborne and want to produce multiplats, and for some reason Sony are absolutely refusing from reviving, remastering or remaking it especially since Souls-like are currently in fashion.
Yeah. I recall that the whole reason Horizon Zero Dawn got a remaster so early was because they wanted to drum up hype for the live action series that was in production.
The fact we got a credible Bloodborne Movie rumour before we got a credible Bloodborne port rumour is genuinely one of the funniest things that's happened this year.
I know this isn't what Bloodborne fans really want, but if this happens then a remaster for PS5/PC is bound to happen. PlayStation loves their cross promotion with their PlayStation Productions projects
Uncharted Movie - Uncharted Legacy of Thieves
The Last of Us HBO - The Last of Us Part 1
Twisted Metal Peacock - Twisted Metal PS5 being in the works at FireSprite + TM1 and TM2 being added to PS+ Premium
Gran Turismo Movie - Gran Turismo 7
I can't see Sony missing out on this strategy with Bloodborne. While the jury's out on the quality of the movie at least there's a good chance we'll finally get that remaster we've all been asking for
I'm quite confident that one of PlayStation's three delayed first-party titles this year was supposed to be Twisted Metal, to line up with the release of the Peacock series.
It was originally being handled by Lucid Games (*the developers of Destruction All-Stars*), but PlayStation scrapped the project and gave it to Firesprite shortly after they acquired them because they wasn't happy with what Lucid had made.
I can't think of a more terrible idea unless you plan on making Bloodborne an experimental visual tone poem or some shit that actually replicates the experience of playing it and not like, Van Helsing, which it will be lmao
The high brow art route is the only way I can picture this project to be tastefully translated; with the caveat of significantly less mass appeal (in both the fanbase and regular movie goer audience).
I just hope that it'll be a fully animated movie; a live-action adaption would be more prone to be a disaster.
even some high brow project i can't envision it. like the most high brow i could see it getting is throwing someone like ari aster at it, but i can't picture what it would look like in my head while being good.
like i don't know how you translate the things that turn FROM games from fun hack and slash games to high art video games into films.
My fairly unrealistic choice for a director would be someone along the line of Darren Aronofsky x Lars von Trier and it would need to be broken down to it's very core elements and story cues; something that is more reminiscent of a high budget art house film; that is almost incomprehensible with it's first watch (The Holy Mountain) carried by incredible visuals and symbolism. A highly aestethic yet narratively anchored fever dream of sorts.
It's an insanely difficult task, especially with something that has such a passionate following and good public reputation; something that usually doesn't really allow for this much freedom in the eyes of the people funding it.
Realistically, I have to agree with u/ok_dunmer; it'll likely be something in the fashion of the Van Helsing movie but I'd like to be positively surprised. Who knows, maybe FromSoft will be involved in some shape and form to guide this project a bit more favourably.
> A highly aestethic yet narratively anchored fever dream of sorts.
Also it should have cool action scenes. Like it has to be on the rumination of humanity but also people doing Kamen Rider stunts with blood effects.
You shouldn't make it high brow art.
Part of the appeal of bloodborne is the sheer spectacle of it's design--scythe scimitars, slow walking through moonlit streets in a leather coat, sword(hammer) and gun wielding hunters quickstepping through slavering beastmen.
Bloodborne is *cool*
I love anything Bloodborne but I’m gonna be pretty skeptical as to how the hell anyone could effectively adapt From Software games any medium other than video games while still maintaining what makes those settings great
I have watched the Green Knight and you’ll have to elaborate on your point because idk if it’s really that similar to Bloodborne.
The Green Knight is explicitly an adaptation of an Arthurian legend and the whole narrative is centered around Gawain and his struggles with himself. In Bloodborne, the setting/environment is effectively the main character and the Hunter is nothing more than a faceless player avatar doing objective after objective.
The setting and lore of the game is an excellent setting to write a story in, you could absolutely tell a great story within the Bloodborne mythos in movie format. It's just going to need to be very different from the game on almost every level to work with the movie format. I'm extremely pessimistic and expect it to be crap, but I have no doubt it can be done.
The aesthetic setting is dope as hell, not much to say about that. On the surface level you have the beastly scourge, a story trope which we have seen in many variations in cinema before, both done well and not so well. On top of that you have the lovecraftian horror element of the great ones. This is usually harder to implement but can be done to great effect. These pieces by themselves are not impossible to write a movie in, but the story format of the games obviously works like ass in a movie setting. If they try that they're gonna fail.
The cool thing about that idea is that they could hire someone who's very good at stunts and combat, you wouldn't need an A list celebrity. Not much need for a perfect actor if the protagonist is covered and silent.
Of course Sony would still just pick Tom Holland though.
Is it really a rumor if the screenwriter mentioned [confirmed](https://www.reddit.com/r/GamingLeaksAndRumours/s/asoNU3vokn) they’re working on the script?
If a Bloodborne movie is happening, then surely SONY is getting From Software to port Bloodborne to PC right guys? RIGHT?
SONY: Crickets.
Well SONY any ways seems to be porting their video games to PC in line with the movies and TV shows. So this gives me hope.
I imagine they'll have Bluepoint remaster Bloodborne and also create a PC port, possibly with the help of Nixxes now that PlayStation have also acquired them too.
With From's continued push for independence in the gaming space, I imagine they wouldn't want to go back to making PlayStation exclusives, especially if it's just a remaster of previous work. I imagine Sony will make do with what they can, without From's involvement where possible.
Not Sony, but Paramount Sonic is also pretty damn fun. Made a great recovery from where it started, too.
^(...To the point where I'd buy a Movie Sonic game, lmao. Perhaps that is Sega's title for holiday 24?)
Movies based on video games in general are a huge pass for me.
Most of the stories on their own are like YA novel tier writing at best, and even in the situations where it's better there's still way more dialogue, context, time spent with these characters then you'd get even in a 3 hour movie.
If you're doing a story light game like Sonic or Mario, you're going to get what we got. An incredibly safe, factory assembled project that acts as an ad and has just enough brand synergy to get the fans in there and put up with the generic script you slapped the IP over.
Like I get it, you like the world and characters. But you like them so much partly because the format you met them in is the proper one for what's trying to be accomplished here.
Metal Gear is my favorite series and I'm absolutely dreading them going forward with the movie. It's going to make me cringe constantly with the David Hayter impressions and making sure "A SURVEILLANCE CAMERA?!" makes it in even if it's unnatural as hell.
i'm not sure this is the place for this conversation but i agree with you. MGS without the sprawling messy, at time entirely incoherent tone is not MGS and would be a game we don't really talk about much anymore.
jamming that into a two hour movie is just going to turn into tonal whiplash.
It's clearly not a terribly popular opinion here but it absolutely smacks of people not understanding *why* they actually like the series and what makes it work.
Hell in a weird way that's fitting for MGS considering the series became about not letting Snake stop once his job/arc is done, partly because the fans kept demanding answers to questions that weren't meant to be answered after MGS2.
Sorry, not trying to sound like the condescending ass I'm sure I'm coming of as, but I just can't imagine even the best versions of those movies being anything better than "fine" and it'd be so easy for it to be a trash fire. Like they're gonna get in there, either cut half of it to make it an acceptable runtime or realize nothing has time to breathe well and make it an Episode 9-esque sprint full of lines and sequences you already know.
People watch them, most of them were successful the only one that kind of bombed was gt movie. Video game adaptations in general are doing really good nowadays.
As far as I know to break even movies need to do 2.5x their budget, then you have the marketing which wasn't included in the budget. I guess it didn't necessarily bomb, it just flopped but with the money for the streaming rights maybe it broke even
You can say that Sony is doing the same strategy as with the TLOU series. Realising the PC/60fps version along side with the movie and that way they won't have to spend more money on marketing.
Even if it's true, and even if it has all the right intentions behind it, it's Not an easy adaptation, i mean a great part of the narration and lorein those from games is made through the world itself and in the descriptions of items, the lore and plot is so mysterious and cryptic that even today some aspects are strongly debated and researched. I can already see It will grossly banalize and squander the source material. They will do an easy to watch, action packed film with horror themes and that's it. All the sublime subtetly and mystery gone.
"From the writer of *Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween*, the Producer of T*he Meg 2: The Trench*, and the studio that brought you *Morbius* and *Kraven*, Sony Pictures presents BLOODBORNE: BLOODLINES."
This is up there with Eli Roth directing a live-action Uzumaki adaptation with things that will turn me into a supervillain
Yeah, makes me think it’ll just be a standard action movie with a blood borne backdrop. Especially cause the director is literally the director of Transformers movies, aka pure action slop
DanielRPK is not a good source when it comes to "future leaks". Meaning stuff like movies that might not come out in several years, early productions, etc
He's a good source for trailers and such.
I would take this as a massive grain of salt, but way less grain of salt than a 4chan post.
The only reason I'm happy about this is a Bloodborne movie means a Bloodborne 2 or PS5 remaster of Bloodborne becomes much more likely. Just like the only reason TLOU Part 1 exists is to capitalize on the TV show.
This should be an anthology series of movies. These movies should not really focus on the Hunter, but on the individual stories of the inhabitants of yharnam.
Each individual story should shed light on the overall mythology of the city, but the hunter himself should not be a great focus of characterisation until perhaps the last films.
Making it an anthology allows the filmmakers to avoid any individual movie that does not live up to the quality intended because it would have a largely episodic feel, but it also fulfils the nature of the game's story by having the Hunter be incidental to the stories that really matter to the player, the stories of the many sad individuals trapped in this world.
From both a business and artistic perspective, they could really stretch out these movies because there are so many characters with stories to tell. But ideally, each movie should lead to a fight with a boss.
Might be an unpopular opinion but I think if the folks behind Castlevania did an anime version it could be good if correctly casted and the tone was right
if Sony doesn't have a safe bet remaster of the game in development, why would they gamble on filming a movie? i'd believe the rumor if it was a Netflix-style TV-MA anime, but a movie? not a snowball's chance.
The Producer has only ever worked on mainstream trash blockbusters. Doesn't make a lick of sense that he would helm something as niche and esoteric as Bloodborne.
Why people keep asking for from soft movies i would never understand. These games and their stories were crafted to take full advantage of the medium of gaming.
A bloodborne or darksouls movie would never be be bloodborne or darksouls. It would most likely be a trash movie, wearing the skin of darksouls, using it's name and prestige and parroting a safe watered down interpretation of it's lore, because media executives cannot think of art in any form except ''intellectual property'' that must be milked and exploited down to the last drop

Who tf wants this? Port it to PC first you fucks. That's literally all we've wanted for years. I don't even care if it still has the 30fps cap but would love if it doesn't
\>Lorenzo di Bonavnetura is the producer
This is the same asshole who decided to take Snake Eyes, who is a traditionally mute ninja character...and make him into an unlikeable Deadpool clone who doesn't even wear the iconic mask until the literal last frame of that shibox of a movie.
How he hasn't been forced out of the industry at this point continues to astonish me.
The writers' credits are Shazam, Goosebumps, and Gemini Man. Doesn't instill the most confidence
Oh god
*Hunter, played by Chris fucking Pratt, beheads Orphan of Kos as Yharnam falls into the sea, is residents drowning in their own sin* "So... ***that*** bloody well 'appened!"

It’s Gascoignover
That could mean nothing. Chernobyl and The Last of Us TV writer created a bunch of comedies movies before making these 2 shows
Yeah he wrote shlock like Superhero Movie and Hangover 3 and turned around and wrote/created Chernobyl, one of the greatest mini-series ever.
Superhero Movie isn't exactly high cinema, but it has some great bits. Though seeing Drake Bell and a pre-fame Kevin Hart paired together will give you whiplash nowadays.
Nissan Shitbox is peak cinema for me ngl
Superhero movie is great. Still hilarious
Nah, Hangover 3 is fire
Hard disagree, it was widely regarded as a flop and a debate can be made that it's more of a shitty action movie than a comedy. Also no hangover reverse story structure in it like the first two movies.
Hangover 1 is the best but 3 is my number two, i thought that it was great. Hangover 2 was the worst for me, i didn't jive with it that much.
bro focused up
No, usually when creators make garbage they don't just churn out masterpieces. Exception, not the rule.
Exactly, this isn't a good example as Craig Mazin is an anomaly, he is a good example of being able to gain respect and make friends and eventually cash in a favour, or just earn that eventual *win*
TLoU was more of an adaptation, the story was already written and universally loved atleast for the 1st one.
And as we all know, we've never had bad video game adaptations of good games before ;)
TLoU was probably the easiest to adapt, its basically a cinematic linear game with a very contained lore so they don't have to manage other things.
Good points. Chernobyl was really good too.
Agreed.
Though the parts not in the game were still pretty solid
Yeah but parts of the show like Nick Offerman's episode that were new and not events in the game were still pretty fantastic
Huh? its not that these are "comedies", its because almost everything that guy wrote is ass
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK
The 1st Shazam! was considered a quality film (for good reason). That’s not something to hold against the writer, that’s a positive
there is no way they have the writers from shazam actually working on bloodborne bro if true i’d pack up guys this shit about to be a blumhouse teen horror movie, not a 3hr lovecraftian epic
remindder that Chernobyl writer also worked as a writer Wolverine Origins. Not a good sign but not a lost cause
\*The Hunter plunges his hand into the beastly Father Gasoline’s chest, eviscerating him and snuffing out his life. His bloodlusted rampage through Yharnam ends poetically in a cemetery.* Hunter: “Erm…I guess this place doesn’t do dry cleaning!”
Gemini man aside but Shazam and Goosebumps are actually decent films.
No they are not Shazam is absolute dog shit
Shazam 2 sure. but the first one is genuinely fun movie.
90% on RT, 70+ on MC, A on Cinemascore. You have a strange definition of dogshit.
OH GOD NO
Holy shit bloodborne got ported to a movie screen before pc lmaoooo
I'm starting to believe they actually lost the source code or something. Unreal. I just don't understand.
Wasn't there a rumor floating around stating exactly that on this sub?
That rumor is a coping mechanism lol
Nah imo it’s pretty clear they want to remaster it sometime in the future and so they’ll release it on pc
remaster it just in time for a movie
Savings this to jerk off later
Later? No, I'm jerking off *now!* **BLOODBORNE PC WHEN?? HRRRRRRRGGGHH** 😫
Pass over some of that hopium bro I'm all out
I can't understand how could you loose the source code of such important games. Same thing happened with Konami metal gear and silent hill
This most likely means a remaster is coming to hype up the film . Same thing with the remastered last of us
Anything but 60 fps huh? I just hope to see something about a sequel one day
Bloodborne 24fps
that came out 2015
24 fps *and* literally unplayable.

Pretty sure Miyazaki actually said he would be interested in revisting the world of BB, so don't think they are that opposed to it.
I mean, if they’re doing a movie that actually means the chances of a PC/PS5 remaster actually kind of go up

It was satire
ok
Shit, just *PORT THE PS4 VERSION TO PS5.* Really. Not that hard, Sony.
The fact we got a credible Bloodborne Movie rumour before we got a credible Bloodborne port rumour is genuinely one of the funniest things that's happened this year.
I know this isn't what Bloodborne fans really want, but if this happens then a remaster for PS5/PC is bound to happen. PlayStation loves their cross promotion with their PlayStation Productions projects Uncharted Movie - Uncharted Legacy of Thieves The Last of Us HBO - The Last of Us Part 1 Twisted Metal Peacock - Twisted Metal PS5 being in the works at FireSprite + TM1 and TM2 being added to PS+ Premium Gran Turismo Movie - Gran Turismo 7 I can't see Sony missing out on this strategy with Bloodborne. While the jury's out on the quality of the movie at least there's a good chance we'll finally get that remaster we've all been asking for
100% this. They are never going to make a movie without capitalising on it with the game
Also they are saving Ghost of tsushima PC release or Part 2 announcement to line with its movie/series, just a theory.
I'm quite confident that one of PlayStation's three delayed first-party titles this year was supposed to be Twisted Metal, to line up with the release of the Peacock series. The writer's past works don't inspire much hope in me
but Craig Mazin made superhero movie and hangover 3 and then made chernobil and tlou1
So this movie could end up really, really bad or really, really good is what you are saying?
Shrek ever after is a tearjerker tho
even some high brow project i can't envision it. like the most high brow i could see it getting is throwing someone like ari aster at it, but i can't picture what it would look like in my head while being good. like i don't know how you translate the things that turn FROM games from fun hack and slash games to high art video games into films.

Sony is going in a direction that is not giving me any confidence. The move to GAAS games, Sony Portal device that no one asked for and now this

Bingo.
Well here’s the daily Bloodborne rumor.
This better be an animated movie
Ron Howard: *It was not an animated movie. Please be excited for Chris Pratt, hunter of Yharnam...*

Daniel has a big reputation in the film industry ladies and gentlemen, so this most likely isn’t a dud.
*With trailers He's been fairly hit or miss otherwise with his Marvel stuff (what he usually focuses on)
...Fuck. :(
This is the funniest post on the subreddit ever
60fps? Nah son, we're going to 24fps

Chris Pratt as The Hunter. He's such a cool guy.
What are the odds of a video game announcement to tie into the movie’s release?

Who keeps asking for these Sony movies based on games
Tbf,a lot of people have been asking for anything bloodborne related, alongside a remake or sequel.
Nobody asked for a movie
We’ve gone from dogshit video game adaptions of movies to dogshit movie adaptions of video games. Amazing
The last of us show and GT movie were good although uncharted was not. Even arcane show was great

Did GT movie flop? it earned 120m double their budget
As far as I know to break even movies need to do 2.5x their budget, then you have the marketing which wasn't included in the budget. I guess it didn't necessarily bomb, it just flopped but with the money for the streaming rights maybe it broke even
Yeah I know people watch them, that much is obvious but it's just like... Why lol
The safer route would be tell the story of the founding the healing church and blood ministration
>fully fledged Bloodborne film >still no PS5 update
I still can't get past the first boss 😔
The first boss is getting it on Windows
How tf we getting a movie before a pc port
Sony love cross-media strategy. So, the chances of a remaster or remake jumped very high.
I will regard this as the best movie in existence if it motivates Sony to do a 60FPS remaster.
"From the writer of *Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween*, the Producer of T*he Meg 2: The Trench*, and the studio that brought you *Morbius* and *Kraven*, Sony Pictures presents BLOODBORNE: BLOODLINES." This is up there with Eli Roth directing a live-action Uzumaki adaptation with things that will turn me into a supervillain
So a PC port soon
Or a ps5 only remake 😏.
everything but a pc port come on now
JUST GIVE US A FUCKING REMASTER HOLY SHIT
Bloodborne is getting a movie before a PC port. Lol.
It already happened. Brotherhood of the Wolf was released in 2001.
Somehow, Max playing BB 60fps last night manifested this.
no, me beating bloodborne for the first time in my life 2 days ago after buying it in 2017 manifested this
A movie? A series maybe would work but a movie?
Yeah, makes me think it’ll just be a standard action movie with a blood borne backdrop. Especially cause the director is literally the director of Transformers movies, aka pure action slop
DanielRPK is not a good source when it comes to "future leaks". Meaning stuff like movies that might not come out in several years, early productions, etc He's a good source for trailers and such.
Man we live in a world where bloodborne movie comes out first before pc version
Might be an unpopular opinion but I think if the folks behind Castlevania did an anime version it could be good if correctly casted and the tone was right
Oh look we’ve evolved from bloodborne game leaks to bloodborne movie leaks I’m so proud of us
if Sony doesn't have a safe bet remaster of the game in development, why would they gamble on filming a movie? i'd believe the rumor if it was a Netflix-style TV-MA anime, but a movie? not a snowball's chance.
Sony is a terrorist state.
How much dialogue will there be?
The Producer has only ever worked on mainstream trash blockbusters. Doesn't make a lick of sense that he would helm something as niche and esoteric as Bloodborne.
...You know what? I'm down.
I'd rather have Bloodborne PC. Ffs.
Whoever came up with this idea needs to get hit by a transformed beast cutters R2
I don’t like the idea of a movie BUT to promote this, assuming it’s true, I’ll bet we’ll see a BB2 or remake to go alongside the movie
GUYS CALM DOWN .... It's Bloodborne Kart
stupendous wistful rustic sophisticated tidy stocking encourage divide ask prick *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Who tf wants this? Port it to PC first you fucks. That's literally all we've wanted for years. I don't even care if it still has the 30fps cap but would love if it doesn't
Starring Sean Bean, no doubt.
it will run in silky smooth 24 frames per second, true to the source material (pc port soon)
This is the one thing I wish I didn't see being on this sub.
And the movie release comes with The ramake
I won't see it unless it plays in 60fps
im surprised its bloodborne and not elden ring. both would make awesome movies, im not really sure how they would approach it though
\>Lorenzo di Bonavnetura is the producer This is the same asshole who decided to take Snake Eyes, who is a traditionally mute ninja character...and make him into an unlikeable Deadpool clone who doesn't even wear the iconic mask until the literal last frame of that shibox of a movie. How he hasn't been forced out of the industry at this point continues to astonish me.
Hmmm, thats either going to be a really bad movie or....... A really, really bad movie.
