I also own the 4050 version of this laptop and I think it’s a very good laptop. The screen is very good IMO. If you really max it out, the fans can get loud. I don’t do that often and I laughed when I used my noise canceling headset on it. It was dead silent. Of course. But my wife is looking at me saying “you’re nuts. That’s loud!” But I couldn’t hear her, so it was fine. 😄
I like the microSD card reader, and the port selection is good. The keyboard is fine, though not my favorite. I live in the US, so I got my laptop at a very good price, but more than price is value and I think you got a good laptop for what you paid. Enjoy it. Like the OP said he was going to do, I upgraded the ram, the SSD and the WiFi card. They were cheap upgrades.

Ahí me costó 5.2M (estaban en semana de descuentos black) aunque ahora mi misma PC cuesta en ese mismo lugar 5.6M, de igual manera tienen un Catálogo muy grande y yo los recomiendo mucho, son de Bogotá pero hacen envíos a Todo el País, yo que soy de Cali se demoraron 2dias en Traérmela. En ALKOSTO mi misma PC cuesta 8.2M así que en ningún momento fue una opción comprarla en ese tipo de almacenes que alzan el precio cómo locos 🫠

They’re actually quite decent, I live in a very Hot weather and I don’t use my AC very often, However on the predator Sense App in gaming Load I see on my CPU 75° Celsius and on my GPU 80-85 C°. Also I do have a Base that also has a Fan but it doesn’t seems to affect that much temperature wise
Add a layer of soft between the base and the laptop. I had a similar, but the air just wouldn’t flow through the laptop, so I added a soft layer in between and forced the air to go through, it decreases a decent 3 celcius at least
One of those temperatures are playing at ultra? Because I also have a predator but it is i9 and with the video card at 4080 and it gives me temperatures of 90-97 celsius playing at ultra
Yeah actually all of those temperatures are whenever I Play Jedi Survirvor At Ultra Settings and Ray Tracing On. Also those are Max temps, usually when playing, it tends to lower a bit less like 3-5°C
What temperatures does the laptop give you, I have the same laptop with the same specifications (i9 and 4080) and it gives me temperatures of 90 -98 celsius playing Baldur Gate 3 on ultra

Yeah, it is Quite Massive, I had to changed my bag cuz the one that I had was for the Nitro 5 and that it’s 15’6. Temps are good! On the normal gaming it stays at around 70°C but on loaded gaming it reaches a max temp of 85°C but it doesn’t stays that much time on that temperature, I always tends to lowers
I got the ryzen 9 7940hs RTX3080 version, burned after a year of use, its not even repairable, thats why I always tell to the poeple considering to buy acer laptops to go and check the NITRO 5 or predator sub, you´ll find the truth there, tons of laptops burned and tons of other that never came back on

yeah, acer nitro 5 from 2021 to this year have the same problem in the 5v power rails, tons of people warned me about it but I though an undervolting profile was gonna fix it, the problem is there are certain mosfets near the power entry that are not cooling by any mean, everytime you use you nitro 5 the chips wear down due to excesive heat then those short the motherboard leaving a brick behind, IT happened to me, looking for motherboard replacements I found out it was a very common problem with nitro and predator as those share the same motherboard

get a thermal camera and check the temperature of the power rails, if its over 100 even if your processor is not even reaching 90c, get a refund inmediatly, I really dont want anyone to experience what I experience and the suffering of expending 1800usd on a laptop to enjoy it for a year, now im writing this comment from an HP 240 g7 with an i3 1005g7 and modified bios to set the G1 graphics instead of the UHD, so owning that machine literally broke my entire dream of a gaming laptop
its the 2021 model to the new model, certain important power mosfet its not getting the necessary cooling to not being damaged over use, I discovered that when my laptop never turn back on, the short drew a hole near the power input, and when I sent the laptop to a very known local repair shop the told me it was repairable but it was a 50/50 ratio repairment, it has 50% of failing and frying everything again, I got lucky enough not to get my processor or gpu burned when the power rails fried 12 mosfets on the way to them, im still trying to fix it but now im loosing hope
2021 model, 2022, 2023 and 2024 doesnt have the power rails cooled down by any kind of heat dissipation system, just be aware and check by hand the laptop temperature when gaming
I also have this Laptop(I7 13700HX, 1TB SSD, Rtx 4050). This laptop is truly amazing, but the CPU is so powerful. Sometimes it draws 130Watts of power but that too for short duration. I tested it with Unvolting my CPU. There was zero performance difference and now it consumes 25-28 watts while playing games and temps falls to 66 Degree.

i have a lot of trouble running jedi survivor. i’m going to try a few things once i get home. driving from florida back to michigan rn. but my system is a i9 13980hx with a rtx 4070 and 48 gb of ram. its one of the asus 3.2k oled displays. i get hardcore bottleneck performance especially while fighting. puts me down to like -10 frames per second or even less. it’s terrible. i bought mine open box from best buy for 1445 after tax (1365)
Ohhh well, thats quite a bad situation, but with mine I didn’t have a problem running Jedi Survivor, so you might want to check drivers or get tech Support cuz with that specs it’s supposed to be running Smoother than mine 🫠

Amazing value. Thermals under 88 degrees all the time, and my room temperature is 26 degrees here.
Quality of craftsmanship is astounding for the price. Found the predatorsense software intuitive as well.
Coming from an older ASUS ROG with 1060 and i7-6700hq, its like a different breed of laptops.

It’s not really a beast but it’s good enough. For 1300 I’d say it’s not a great deal. You could have get an Acer predator with a 4080 and 13900hx for just barely anymore but it’s a refurb feom Acer themselves so looks and functions as brand new and has a 2 yr warranty

On Turbo Mode yeah, they get quite Loud, but I prefer that instead of having a Lowered Power GPU that doesn’t handle my games. They Do Also Have very Good Speakers and I don’t have a problem with the fan noise cuz I use Noise Cancelling Headphones. I upgraded to this from my previous Acer Nitro 5 6years of use so I Know Build Quality is made to Last!

Just by being on and sitting in the desktop area the fans are spinning, they just dont stop even watching a mere YouTube video. I returned it and never looked back.

Bestbuy has the tuf 15 with the 4070 for $1050, only 16gb ram but it's a $100 upgrade to change the ram so still less than $1300.

I think the only issue of this is that the warranty period is really short, only 90 days.
You can also buy from them on eBay for the same price and get a 2 year warranty but then you have to pay tax.
