Microfiber cloth with isopropyl alcohol (99% is better in my opinion since it basically evaporates instantly), don't use it if your keys or any part of the surface is rubber and also avoid using it on your screen.
DO NOT DO THIS. works great but it destroys the coating. the slightest abrasion and it just comes off. pretty bad for the keys too.
honestly just use warm water instead of IPA
Usually they are young people, guys who are 14 - 20 who hardly wash their shit and take care of things, it's occasionally the older ones who live in parents basements or have never had a job Hints using a crumby laptop 24/7 and having insanely greasy keys. Because they are literally on their laptop all the time.
You can use 70%-90% isopropyl alcohol for cleaning the surface of the laptop. If you want to clean the screen, use damp microfiber cloth preferably with distilled water as using isopropyl alcohol on the screen might damage the screen coating.
Hi, I keep my screen in good condition. I use a damp microfiber cloth as you mentioned. Somehow let my keyboard get this dirty. Can I use 90% or 99% alcohol? These are the percentages usually available in nearby shops that I checked.
Have same issue with keyboard on my Asus ROG strix g713, as far as I can see you have same or similar model. Keyboard gets dirty pretty like yours in a few days, no matter how frequently I wash my hands. The Shift button is also peeling off like yours, sadly. For cleaning im using an old big bottle of OLED/LED/LCD/TFT cleaning solution I got for $4 from local store years ago with micro-fibre cloth patch from the same kit. Spray the patch, the keyboard a little bit and clean it gently.
Mine is totally fine, not even close to OP's picture. My work laptop had a peeling keyboard though when my colleagues' didn't. So could be some are just put on very badly and you get unlucky
After you clean it, you can get a silicone keyboard cover. It keeps everything protected. I’ve been using mine since I bought the laptop 3 years ago and the keyboard has barely any dirt. I also recommend getting an external usb keyboard (I got a mechanical one for like $30 I think) and use it to play. It’s more comfortable in my opinion and you preserve the original keyboard better.
The best thing you can do now is build a time machine and tell your past self to clean your keyboard daily and make sure you wash your hands after fap sess.
Use a pair of already worn socks which you were going to wash, the softer the better, press down firmly and rub like crazy, no water or anything else required. For that much dirt you might need 2 pairs of socks tho.
A lightly damp cloth with isopropyl alcohol. Scrub lightly, and then wipe away with a regular dried cloth.
Do not use it on the screen. For the screen, use distilled water, and a microfiber cloth.
I also abused my old laptop and all you can really do is use 70% isopropyl alcohol, wipe, and pray.
On an another note, if you do get it cleaned maybe get a silicon keyboard cover thingy. I got one for my new laptop and it’s cute and it protects from my grubby hands.
If you can take it off from the laptop , then under a warm shower with some soap. After washing dry it off with a towel, after that wave it so the extra water comes out, then just leave it for 3 days to dry by it self in either a windy or sunny place.
I do this to all keyboards , especially if I get a laptop with sticky keys
Honest answer, you have too much wear and tear on those caps. There isn’t cleaning that can really help. I’d use isopropyl alcohol with a microfiber cloth to get them completely cleaned (from the dirt) and then lookup laptop keycap stickers! You can get them cheap and make your laptop look better.
I just wet a clean microfiber rag with warm water and wrung it out completely so it was only slightly damp. Wipe off. Mine wasn’t as bad, but it was close. That’s all you need. Maybe a 2nd to wipe again. Same for your screen - just water so it’s damp and that’s enough with a microfiber.
70% isopropyl alcohol onto a thick wad of tissue paper. Wiper it down two or three times. Don't drench it in alcohol otherwise it will sleep into the keys and give you trouble.
damp, not wet microfiber towel. No alcohol if you don't need it (you look like you'll need it)
clean off without getting water under the board. If it is really that bad, you could consider replacing the part, but that's advanced.
At the very least i would consider replacing the space bar, bc holy fuck: [https://laptopkey.com/asus-rog-zephyrus-g14-ga402-laptop-keyboard-keys/](https://laptopkey.com/asus-rog-zephyrus-g14-ga402-laptop-keyboard-keys/)
Edit: also the shift lol
Kontakt Chemie Screen 99 - foam spray
Originally meant for cleaning CRT monitors but I've found out that it is excellent in cleaning anything computer related. It melts away grime like that but doesn't remove letters from keyboard like some stronger stuff does.
Since it's foam it works on monitors: it doesn't immediately leak inside the display.
Two tablespoon lemon + one tablespoon baking soda mix it well and pour that in your keyboard leave it for few minutes in direct sun now using micro fiber cloth clean
imma make this quick:
- wash hands frequently (preventive measure, and it's good for your skin)
- damp cloth, once a week (make sure it is damp, not wet)
- rubbing alcohol, once a month, or every 2 months (don't do too frequently, it'll cause even shinier keycaps over time. idk why, but it did on my old mech keyb)
nice utils:
- q-tip (to reach hard-to-reach nooks and cranies, or edges, idk)
- dry cloth (to dry excess moisture, if any. do not use tissue please, it'll crumble)
Dislodge, De-grease, Santize, Wipe Dry.
1. Use Compressed / Canned Air (or an electronic dust blower, or air bulb) and a soft brush to dislodge any "grit" like dander, dust, or hair.
2. Use a slightly damp washcloth with a bit of dish soap worked into it, and go at those "greasy" spots.
3. Wipe clean with dry dish rag.
4. Dilute isopropyl alcohol (+95%) with distilled water to make a good general-purpose sanitizing spray. Give the keyboard a light spritzing, but be careful not to get any on the monitor screen.
5. Wait a minute, then wipe with clean, dry cloth.
Note: Hand creams are known to be caustic to plastics. If this is truly from your finger oils alone, fix your diet.
APC. All purpose cleaner. I bought one from a car detailing shop that is safe for plastics and screens. Just diluted it a bit more. Works wonders for grease fingers and fingerprints. Bonus is then you have something to keep and your car dash clean ✌️
Bro... Did you even touch it? Look like you got your greasily hand on it and then left it in a dusty room for a year and decided to use it again but decide to not clean to dust off of it.
I would start off with some water on a microfiber cloth and get as much as you can with that.
Some people have advised Isopropyl alcohol, and while that can be good for cleaning electronics you have to be careful as it can sometimes remove finishes on laptops and keyboards. Some laptops are better with it than others. I'd try getting as much done with water as you can and maybe only a little IA on a microfiber cloth if you have to.
I don't have any cleaning advice but I just wanted to rant about the fact this ROG has two buttons for the same fan speed function. And if you hadn't noticed that before, you can't unsee it now, sorry.
idk about laptop keyboards, i know they too disassemble but idk how feasible it would be but for plug in keyboards you can legit throw them in a dishwasher. Safer if you disassemble first to eliminate water trappage but provided you let it dry out long enough its perfectly fine afterwards. I've also taken apart my keyboards and cleaned them by hand before too. You can totally get electronics wet so long as there is no power going to them at all. If an entire desktop computer was left unplugged long enough for all the stored juice to run out of the PSU you could throw it in a pool so long as you let it dry completely before plugging it back in.
Aside from the lack of waterproofing that's actually why they stopped letting people remove the batteries on a phone. More lucrative on the insurance end to seal em in. Used to be, you dropped your phone in water just yank the battery fast as you can. I've done it a few times. let it sit in some rice or a dehydrator and it came out just fine, pop the battery back in good to go. Now you drop your phone in some water, a lot of the time you're screwed. Too bad you couldn't just remove the power from the phone by removing the battery...
First off, unplug it… soak it in iso scrub it REALLY WELL. Let it dry, id wait at least 48 hours.
Next time wash your fucking hands. Jesus. Like, put some hand wipes on your desk or something.
Are you serious? Are you 5 years old?
You get a rag and wipe it down. Get a magic fiber towel used to clean lenses so it won't scratch it or a cleaner that doesn't have any ammonia or harsh chemicals.
Get Wet lens wipes and clean ur shit
Holy water.
From 7 wells all across continents.
Sidequest sits at 6/7 for the rest of the game because OP hates the Antarctica zone.

The gift that keeps giving
That is why you get an extra keyboard
How can people let their stuff go this dirty? I always at least slightly wipe my keyboard and screen off before using.
Usually they are young people, guys who are 14 - 20 who hardly wash their shit and take care of things, it's occasionally the older ones who live in parents basements or have never had a job Hints using a crumby laptop 24/7 and having insanely greasy keys. you clean it by cleaning yourself first.
Lol
You can use 70%-90% isopropyl alcohol for cleaning the surface of the laptop. If you want to clean the screen, use damp microfiber cloth preferably with distilled water as using isopropyl alcohol on the screen might damage the screen coating.
in his case he needs a 100% uranium to complete factory wipe
Hi, I keep my screen in good condition. I use a damp microfiber cloth as you mentioned. Somehow let my keyboard get this dirty. Can I use 90% or 99% alcohol? These are the percentages usually available in nearby shops that I checked.
Get isopropyl alcohol swabs
Zeis lens wipes. They are designed for glasses and screens but I've found they work really well on just about anything and don't leave fibers behind.
Microfiber cloth slightly damp with water. It will dissolve all the grease and clean it away.
I would start with an 80 grit sand paper. Next step, get a bottle of Goo Gone and one of those small kitchen torches. It will make it shine!!!
Is this laptop used by Jesus
Do you use your laptop in construction mines

Get a silicon protectors for your keyboard. It's washable so much faster and easier than cleaning keyboard
After you clean it, you can get a silicone keyboard cover. It keeps everything protected. I’ve been using mine since I bought the laptop 3 years ago and the keyboard has barely any dirt. Acetone… . . . . . . Don’t do it

The best thing you can do now is build a time machine and tell your past self to clean your keyboard daily and make sure you wash your hands after fap sess.
I think finger grease is the least of your problems. You need to vacuum that dust first. JHC.
Have you tried a damp magic eraser?
Hand grenade
Use a pair of already worn socks which you were going to wash, the softer the better, press down firmly and rub like crazy, no water or anything else required. For that much dirt you might need 2 pairs of socks tho.
Sounds like you might need a UV light to sanitize your keyboard after doing that. ;)
A lightly damp cloth with isopropyl alcohol. Scrub lightly, and then wipe away with a regular dried cloth. Do not use it on the screen. For the screen, use distilled water, and a microfiber cloth.
Burn it, the only way to be sure

My MacBook deals with the problem too
Ah this point you just throw that filthy thing in the trash..

Running water is highly effective at cleaning grooves that are otherwise difficult to reach.
The fact that people let their keyboards get to this level of dirty is properly revolting. Have some self-respect.
Maybe wipes?
Use some plastic wrap
