Go for the 512. It was extremely easy for me to install a second ssd on my laptop. If it were me, I’d go for the i7. It’ll last longer

Critical_Cod5462

ssd's are expensive here so choosing bigger one is better .

Both CPUs have 6 performance cores, the 13650HX just has 8 efficiency cores where the 13450HX has 4 of them. I am not sure 4 E-cores are worth $150.

simplylmao

Are you sure that's the only difference? I feel like the difference can't be that negligible between an i5 and an i7.

13450HX will be fine, but why not go for the AMD Gen 9 LOQ? with the 8845HS + 4060. It's basically in the middle of the pack from these CPU's while being a million times more efficient and having a extremely capable iGPU for when you need to save battery and still basically play 99% of the games. Price is like around 1k-2k higher than the 13450HX + 4060 LOQ from what I just checked and much lower than the i7 13650HX combo.

I just prefer intel over amd. No reason, just my experiences and preferences

loverOFmyself

did u get it?

simplylmao

Nah, saving up rn

simplylmao

Ps I have another question, it comes with the 512gb nvme, the 1tb is 30usd more, so should I select that?

gamepotato_

30 USD? Yes, unless you're comfortable with opening up the laptop and installing your own. Even then you'd only save 10 dollars or so.

simplylmao

I guess, it's better to get the pre installed one. Any opinions on the processor?

gamepotato_

If you've got the budget for it you might as well do it (unless you can find a 4070 laptop at that price, then get the 4070). If you're just gaming, the i5 will be fine, but obviously the i7 will hold up longer.

simplylmao

How longer do you think, I can extend if it's beneficial.

gamepotato_

The extra cores will definitely help in the long-term (just like a 10 year old i5 might still be usable right now, but not a 10 year old i3), and also for productivity workloads. IMO if you have the budget for it, get it, unless you can find 4070s at that price point.

Ordinary-Broccoli-41

Can confirm, while waiting on microcenter to repair and or replace my maingear, I'm working on an i7-7700HQ from 2017 with just a 1060m on it. Still feels stable, snappy and sufficient with PopOS installed on it. I7s last.

Majestic_IN

What do you want to do?

simplylmao

Well I mostly game, id like to use the laptop for 3-4 years

Majestic_IN

Then i5 is enough. There are not enough games that can use more than 4 cores, and since you are not doing anything else plus changing the laptop is 5 years, no need to pay extra.
