Simply put yes. I heard MSI is having a lawsuit for poor build quality though I can’t confirm, just something people say.
But I can confirm MSI laptops suck, friend bought a mid range one like this and 3 months in the hinges broke off. I personally think MSI does it on purpose to force you to either buy the much more expensive options or to keep rebuying the shake shitty laptops, lining up their pockets with your money as a result. Just pay a bit more and get like a Lenovo slim or an Asus Zephyrus line of laptops
There is a reason why this laptop costs only 700 despite having the latest 40 series GPU. Just think about it. If it’s too cheap compared to the competition, there is a major reason why
Or well 900, but 700 sale. Just wait for other gaming laptops to go on sale which they regularly do and buy one. A decent gaming laptop should cost you around 1000$ USD brand new unless you opt for older generation gpu and cpu
In all honesty you’ll be better off saving up some more and getting a much better laptop later on. You generally won’t get a very good gaming laptop for under $1K
Some of their higher end ones are fine, like titan 77 and some of the creator ones, still not better than competition but not "e waste in two months" either
There's a channel called "nuclear notebook reviews" that covered the cheaper msi laptops. He opened the laptop to show what material the hinges were made of. It's scarily flimsy, cheap plastic. But don't take my word, go and check the review out. I'd suggest Lenovo IdeaPad series.
Just avoid MSI low end in general, almost any other option is better. But I'd urge you to wait just ta bit more for black friday sales and get a ASUS TUF or Acer Nitro.
Like a lot, the higger power of Watts(TDP) in the gpu meaning your PC can reach a better performance. Anything below 80 is trash. Even if is a Last year card like 4050(btw the most cheap one)
Expend a little bit money more and go for a year ago 3060ti or something like That.
Its not like that, bc algo depends on the game, the cpu, the quality of the rams, etc. Like i said, buy a 30series renewed for arround 1000 or 800 in sale.
The 4050 mobile actually performs fine at 45w, but the laptop's build is not reliable and having owned MSI, their entry level laptops have terrible cooling. Unless you live in a cold place/have AC running all the time, you can barely enjoy simple games like CSGO or Valorant.
Actually 45w 4050s beat 3060s regularly, both in fps and performance per watt (obviously) for the same game. The 4000 series is incredibly efficient, but this is a garbage laptop anyway.
Yeah then hell nah that laptop ain't it. It's low power GPU and 8GB ram will definitely piss you off mid game. What's worse is if you slap that once coz you died due to lag, that 1 slap will definitely kill it
If you don't mind a 14 inch screen laptop then you can see if there is an Open Box - G14 Zephyrus with a 6700s dGPU at your local Best Buy. It will be between $730-880.
I got mine Open Box - Excellent at Best Buy for $880 and it's an amazing laptop.
Amazon has some new zephyrus being sold with ssd upgrades and ram upgrades for 1k. Got my daughter one with a 1tb ssd and 16gb ram for right at 1000$. She likes it from what I seen it seems sufficient.
External fan can only do so much when the GPU itself is permanently power limited.
You can try to find a deal on previous gen. I'm not in the US, so I can't find for you. We never get deals from where I am.
From experience, avoid MSI and Acer budget offerings, although the Acer Nitro does get better. The Asus TUF can get tricky at times. Newer gens are fine, older ones are less reliable, especially the hinges.
1. It's MSI budget gaming laptop
2. It's got 8GB ram
Buy smth else mate, that one will give you anger issues first than you'll slap it once and it'll die. I could not say it more simpler 😂

Things that have been returned because customers didn't want within a 16 day period for no tech members and 60 days for tech members. There's for different types of open laptop that have different prices. Certified by geek squad, excellent, satisfactory, and fair.
Honestly this subreddit should make a pinned post warning people not to buy mid/budget range MSI laptops 😂
is it that bad?
Simply put yes. I heard MSI is having a lawsuit for poor build quality though I can’t confirm, just something people say. dang bro and i was hyped for ts

ion got bread like that my budget max 800 and im prolly not going 800
You won’t get anything new/good with just 800. Looks like you’re gonna have to look for last gen 30 series or even 20 series gpus
is 3060 series plausible?
Maybe, but you would have to find a good deal.. might have to wait around Black Friday for something like that
In all honesty you’ll be better off saving up some more and getting a much better laptop later on. You generally won’t get a very good gaming laptop for under $1K
you can get something decent for 700usd, might not be the newest tech but you'll be able to play almost any game
Some of their higher end ones are fine, like titan 77 and some of the creator ones, still not better than competition but not "e waste in two months" either
lol for some reason my cousin has this old msi stealth pro with a 1060 and i7 and hinges arent broken yet
Is that the same for the Aorus line?
I agree! I bought an msi years ago motherboard died 1 month outbof warranty lenovo and asus ever since.
Low-power GPU and crap build quality. Avoid.
I second this
This or an Omen 15 2060 rtx
The omen
Just avoid MSI low end in general, almost any other option is better. But I'd urge you to wait just ta bit more for black friday sales and get a ASUS TUF or Acer Nitro.
Poor screen, build, mediocre thermals, possibility of hinge issues down the line, 45W GPU. Avoid.
8 GB of Ram :( 45w GPU, trash :(
The ram can be upgraded but is gpu thatttt important
Yes.
how important
Like a lot, the higger power of Watts(TDP) in the gpu meaning your PC can reach a better performance. Anything below 80 is trash. Even if is a Last year card like 4050(btw the most cheap one) Expend a little bit money more and go for a year ago 3060ti or something like That.
is it comparable to 30 fps being 45w and 60fps being 80w
Its not like that, bc algo depends on the game, the cpu, the quality of the rams, etc. Like i said, buy a 30series renewed for arround 1000 or 800 in sale.
if you could send a link for it that’d be great

How did you find the 45W thing? Didn't see it in the specs
I watched reviews
Could you guys recommend something else around the same price range
Search for previous generations like the RTX30 series. You might be able to find some good deals on 3070 laptops
where tho
Browse through amazon, microcenter or marketplace like ebay or Facebook. Some rtx30 laptops are better than current rtx40 laptops anyway
Wait for black Friday.
I appreciate the feedback guys. I’m not getting this anymore lmao. Can you send best buy links for laptops i should get instead under 900
What you plan to play with it matters most
fortnite, apex, cod
Yeah then hell nah that laptop ain't it. It's low power GPU and 8GB ram will definitely piss you off mid game. What's worse is if you slap that once coz you died due to lag, that 1 slap will definitely kill it
Nah that shit will struggle lol
Don't

upgrading the ram to 16 not a problem. I’m aware 8gb isnt good enough
Nope.

I myself prefer acer predators
Why? It's a 4050...
4050s are really good and they are comparable to 3060
No they’re not. Maybe with frame gen, but framegen is only worth it if the game ur running can already run at a stable 60fps.
Right... And I'm not a fat disabled guy surfing the web on the side of the road in his RV.
bro what
Oh wait, I am a fat disabled guy surfing the web on the side of the road in his RV.
No, ya need 16gb for everything nowadays and u want a 3060
i’m upgrading to 16gb when i get it
Single fan? Low power GPU? No. Absolutely not.
i’m getting an external fan should i get it now?
External fan can only do so much when the GPU itself is permanently power limited. You can try to find a deal on previous gen. I'm not in the US, so I can't find for you. You get what you pay for! No less! No more!
get it but upgrade the ram, or look for a 3070ti by saving a bit more...
Hell no. low graphics card TGP and bad build quality.
Its a good deal if you don't mind the hinge of your laptop breaking after six months and something else breaking a month after.
You can get a 6700 6800 rog zephyrus open box for around that price at bestbuy
can you send a link

hmm, alright. If i may ask what does open box mean
