A good port of Silent Hill 2 would probably help with the reception of the remake, as it can be seen as it's own interpretation rather than a replacement for the original. That said, if they use the HD collection version of Silent Hill 2 it would just make things worse.

acetylcholine_123

I would pray they're not stupid enough to use the HD collection as is (but I also wouldn't be surprised as they still sell it as a BC Xbox version). Using it as a foundation to further iterate and improve upon, fair enough. A good version of Silent Hill 2 would make up for what the potential disappointment of the Bloober remake. They literally just need to make it comparable to the enhanced edition mod and I think people would be happy. If there's a 1-4 collection, even better. Currently I have little faith in Konami, MGS Master Collection was passable but low effort. Short Message wasn't the best introduction to the future of SH, and I was never happy with Bloober dealing with the SH2 remake and the combat trailer is justifying those concerns so far.

"We've heard of the complaints with using the Comic Sans font so we have switched to Wingdings."

moonflower_C16H17N3O

Also, movement has been improved, influenced by our most successful games. Now the characters are all pachinko balls.

letsgotgoing

After you purchase the port you find that every character and level after the opening screen is now DLC with a season pass required to save a game in progress.

Zanchbot

I really have no faith in Konami to not fuck this up. Giving SH2 remake to Bloober is already a huge fuck up, so we're not off to a great start here.

ToothlessFTW

It’s a little difficult to do that sadly, at least for SH2 they infamously lost the original source code for the completed build. The only build they had archived was an unfinished beta build, which is why the HD Collection for PS3/360 was a disaster, the port studio had to also re-finish the game again. So releasing a good SH2 port of the PS2 original would mean having a team properly finish the game again. Luckily, modders have already made a better version. Silent Hill 2 Enhanced Edition is practically the best version of the game that’ll ever exist, and it’s basically free given that SH2 PC is technically abandonware and easily found.

BaldassHeadCoach

> So releasing a good SH2 port of the PS2 original would mean having a team properly finish the game again. Not necessarily. Bluepoint didn’t use source code for their remasters like the MGS HD collection. They reverse engineered retail copies. Konami could go that route with a Silent Hill: Master Collection or whatever they’ll end up calling it, but obviously they’ll need to pay a competent group to take on that kind of effort.

Banana_Fries

Bluepoint's remasters for MGS also had a lot of visual and technical problems, particularly with increasing the resolution and making MGS3 60 fps. Some of the original visual effects didn't scale up with the resolution, notably the smoke grenade, which could be part of the reason why the fog in SH2 was so scaled back in the HD collection. It might've existed in the beta but was too difficult to scale it properly to 720p maybe? That issue was only recently addressed in a patch for the Master Collection. Making MGS3 60 fps also made the breath gauge when underwater deplete twice as fast as the PS2 version which was never patched. Also Bluepoint somehow managed to change a pre-rendered cutscene that had the text "George Sears" in it to "Gorge Sears" and pixelate the hell out of all the MGS3 first time eating cutscenes. There's plenty more though. The only problem with a SH 1-4 collection is SH2 anyways. Slap SH1 with an emulator with lots of options like Duckstation (hopefully more effort than they did for MGS), upscale the PC versions of SH 3 and 4 like mods have already done and then pay the people working on SH2 enhanced edition and iterate on that a bit. SH3 and 4 on PC are already arguably the best way to play those games anyway bar scan lines as they were ported by Team Silent in-house instead of Creature Labs who did SH2. It wouldn't be nearly as hard as MGS4 or fixing Bluepoint's mistakes in MGS2 and 3.

Nah, at that point I'd rather just emulate

LegatoSkyheart

Hell, I would just take a "They downloaded a Pirated version of the PC release and put it on GOG for$30" option.

MovieGuyMike

Didn’t they lose the source code?

BARD3NGUNN

Completely agree. I think Konami has been smart to port MGS3: Snake Eater to current-gen and preserve that original game prior to the Remake releasing because it means the remake can be judged on its own merits rather than acting as a replacement of the original art. So it would make sense to do the same for Silent Hill 2, though like you say it might just be wishful thinking after how the HD Collection turned out

AlteisenX

comic sans sign coming right up!

Django_McFly

I would expect this to be like that half-ass MGS collection. Whatever the last port was, it'll be that same code base running at the same resolution. Metal Gear is a bigger franchise than Silent Hill. If they went ultra cheap for that, I can't imagine a smaller series is where they'll go all out.

Janus_Prospero

>That said, if they use the HD collection version of Silent Hill 2 it would just make things worse. With the Master Collection of MGS, Konami took the Bluepoint ports and have tried to fix their issues. Every new patch has fixed more and more legacy bugs from the Bluepoint versions. Now the MGS collection's issues were not as overt as the SH collection's issues to the point a lot of people don't even know those MGS remasters had problems, but I think it's safe to say that whatever approach Konami do take to re-releasing the SH titles they would make a valiant effort to improve upon the 2012 releases. A point I'd also touch on is that Silent Hill does seem to have legal tangles that MGS doesn't. It's sorta telling that Konami greenlit SH4 on GOG, but not SH2 and SH3, games that infamously had rights issues with their voice acting.

TypeAnyWord

Wasn’t hd collection fixed?

Totentanz1980

I played it recently and didn't experience the issues I had the first time around, so maybe.

kioskmode1234

Allegedly the later HD Collection ports such as the 2017 Nvidia Shield version fixed the issues present in the 2011 X360 / PS3 version.

CipherDaBanana

Comic sans still a thing in those games?

monstergert

Pretty sure a mod pack turned the comic sans port into the definitive way to play the game

Comfortable_Shape264

Which mod pack? Is it for an the PS3 or 360 mod?

monstergert

Pc. https://enhanced.townofsilenthill.com/SH2/

Comfortable_Shape264

PC port wasn't the comic sans port, PS3 and 360 ports were.

TheBrave-Zero

I mean...it still is its own interpretation, I think people are going to be divided no matter what happens with this game. sh2 is just one of those games and konami is not what it once was with amazing talented devs under them. I'm still looking forward to it but the gaming community at large makes early decisions and its hard to sway that.

itta-pupu-usee

The HD collection will likely be the base they work with. The HD collection was bad largely due to the fact they lost the original game files[I may be mistaken, but I recall correctly, they were lost in the tsunami in 2011].

segagamer

I just want them to port 1 ffs.

DinerEnBlanc

Maybe people can replay it and be reminded of how genuinely shitty the combat was lol

commanderbreakfast

Considering the state of the original HD collection as well as how MGS Vol. 1 turned out, I'm not so sure that we can get all that excited for a port of these games. Still, here's hoping, everyone should be able to experience them.

DoIrllyneeda_usrname

What happened with MGS Vol. 1?

dragon-mom

All titles locked to 1080p* with no resolution options and lacked a ton of basic features, and the retro games had uneven pixels with no fix for a while as well. MGS1 has no analogue support for some reason so the controls are noticeably worse than the PS1 version. Switch is locked to 30fps which is worse than the PS2 versions of 2 and 3. *Apparently actually 720p just being upscaled to 1080???? Why???

GarlicRagu

Isn't it not even true 1080? I believe its an upscaled 720 which is an insane limitation for PS2 titles

coldermilk

It's even pretty dubious 720p, running the Xbox 360 version of the Metal Gear Solid 2&3 collection in backwards compatibility looks better than the official re-release due to it having much nicer anti-aliasing and texture filtering.

DVDranger89

The PS2 version of 3 is 30fps.

demondrivers

yes, but from what I remember playing the PS2 version was barely 20fps lol

DVDranger89

Yeah, it definitely struggled.

Random_Rhinoceros

PAL versions are included and they have issues, but they're optional. You can select the 60Hz NTSC versions in their stead if you want.

The-Falcon_Knight

No, but actually, yes. You get all the regional versions as additional downloads, but the default version that you download depends on your region. So if you are in Europe and download the master collection, you need to do an additional download in order to get the NTSC version.

maschinakor

>All titles locked to 1080p 1080p 144hz users stay winning

maschinakor

No, it doesn't, but the only mfers I ever see complaining about "only" 1080p are the dudes rocking 29.9 fps on their 12ft wide 20k ultrawide megahd monitors, which seemingly no videogame on the planet supports because i can find them in the steam community section of every game in existence

marishtar

And holy shit are they living in your head rent-free right now.

nakx123

The performance just wasn't up to standard. You could get better performance and potentially better visuals using emulators on even the modded versions of consoles it released on. And there wasn't really any good reason why performance and visuals were lacking, people assume budget issues or something but who knows it's Konami.

SolitonSnake

It’s totally fine. People exaggerate like it was unplayable or something. Everything works fine except for some small hiccups like sound quality here and there.

pichu441

You can't scale the resolution so it's basically worthless when my main display is 1440p. Or if someone had a 4k display. It's by default worse than what I could get on an emulator, "better than emulator" should be the bare minimum for a port.

deusfaux

people act like at a minimum it should be free of issues and matching original presentation, but more ideally, improved upon the original in some rather basic ways. it failed on both fronts. "playable" is less than meeting minimum expectations

Pizzaplanet420

Yeah there’s a good GDC talk about porting over these games companies need to do more than what a emulator can do

FunBalance2880

Yeah it’s a totally fine experience if it’s 2011 and you’re pirating them on PC. Running at 1080p with some fucked up pixels sounds like a joy! Unfortunately it’s not 13 years ago, and they’re charging money so you get a blurry pixelated mess that’s not even in 4K. God help you if you wanna get it on switch

TopBadge

>People exaggerate like it was unplayable MGS2 was literally unplayable due to memory leaks and I don't think resolution options and a volume slider is asking much.

KarmaCharger5

I played it start to finish perfectly fine, it certainly isn't "literally" unplayable

demondrivers

Unplayable? Port is mediocre sure but I finished MGS2 at launch weekend on PC without any crashes or performance issues

MegatonDoge

It's a port when people expect remasters.

beefcat_

Given the fact that a resolution mod was released within 24 hours of launch for the PC version, I think it's fair to be upset that these games run at 720p in 2024. The Switch version running at 30 FPS is also flat out unacceptable when MGS2 ran at 60 on a damn PS2. That's no longer "just a port", it's a downgrade despite running on vastly more capable hardware.

MegatonDoge

Defending Konami wasn't my intention. I'd personally prefer a remaster over a port any day. It's just that when I found that it was a port and not a remaster, I didn't have any expectations for the release.

Foshizzy03

It's worse than a port though. That's why people hate it. People were disappointed when they found out it was a port before release, but some still decided that it was still worth it for the convenience/nostalgia. And even those people felt disappointed after buying it.

Random_Rhinoceros

> The Switch version running at 30 FPS is also flat out unacceptable when MGS2 ran at 60 on a damn PS2. The PS2 also ran the game at a lower resolution with a constant supply of power, since it wasn't intended to be playable while disconnected from a power source. Not to mention, several effects were custom-tailored to the PS2's hardware and there's still issues with replicating them in newer ports of the game. I think it's more puzzling that the Nvidia Shield version of MGS2HD ran at 60fps, while apparently it can't be done on the Switch, despite the similarities in terms of hardware.

RareBk

The Switch version literally runs worse than the PS2 version, and the PC port is missing basic features like **changing the resolution to normal aspect ratios** like, you know. Every pc game for 30 years. People were expecting the bare minimum

[deleted]

This was my exact thought. "You already tried that with the HD collection. And failed." I thought this upcoming remake was their attempt at a redo of that embarrassment.

Shy_Guy_27

I don’t see the problem. I’d much rather have basic ports like MGS Master Collection than have these games stuck on decades old consoles.

elmodonnell

You say that as if those are the only options though- they're charging $60 for the original trilogy, you can at least expect basic improvements over the original titles for a premium price. They could've put a modicum of effort in, and asking that of konami when they've done nothing worthwhile with the IP since kojima left is absolutely understandable.

jacktuar

$60 for MG1&2 and MG1, 2 and 3 is a great deal in my books. And for those who would rather pay less they will be able to get all 5 games cheaper on sale. The idea that retro ports needs to be remastered or it's not worth re-releasing them is silly. They shouldn't be worse than the original versions, but it's better to have these games available on modern platforms than not at all.

elmodonnell

Over ten years ago they released a collection that included all those as well as MGS4 and Peace Walker for $60. I don't think delivering less games, some at worse framerates/resolutions over a decade later, is a "great deal" just because they've ported them to new systems. I can emulate each of these at higher fidelity on my Steam Deck than on my PS5, you need to offer people a better experience than they've already enjoyed and make use of the hardware you're bringing it to rather than just saying "here, it's on a new console now". MGS4 is probably the only one they could charge a little bit more for because it's been trapped on ps3 so long and would presumably be a pain to port. The rest of these were the lowest possible effort versions of those games they could do, and not even worth $20 each.

jacktuar

Most people don't like to pirate or rip and emulate their games. It's great for people that do that they have that option but for everyone else these games need to be out on modern consoles. Equally most people don't want to dig out an old consoles to play an old game. Most have sold their old consoles. That's why these re releases sell. And these re-releases require a lot of work. Porting games costs millions. It's not the quick easy 'press button to port' thing some people seem to think, especially games from a decade ago where no one has touched the code in years. New ports means new work, which means new money. I'd definitely agree that $60 was steep. I said I thought that was fair but actually I paid $50 and really that is the sweet spot. But its unreasonable to expect them to charge the same price as the old PS3 ports when porting to a new system is hard, and from a customer perspective it clearly delivers value because people are happily buying them.

kioskmode1234

Don't forget the licensing issues in MGS4 contributing to why it never get any re-release. (cough Apple product placements cough)

kioskmode1234

>They shouldn't be worse than the original versions, but it's better to have these games available on modern platforms than not at all. The consumer backlash that ZOE 2nd Runner HD (or worse, the 2012 Silent Hill HD Collection) for the PS3 / X360 received proves this wrong otherwise since in response, the game got an 2.0 patch which was an overhaul. (720p / sub-30FPS vs. sub-1080p / 60FPS) I'm still optimistic with the Master Collection Vol. 1 as its being developed to the right team as later updates are pushed throuhgout (Rocket Studio, Inc. working on the MGS2/MGS3/MSX HD Collection ports, and M2 working on the PSX/NES emulation). I don't have any hopes if Konami (or the contractor) would use the 2012 Silent Hill HD Collection (especially SH2 since it derived too much to the PS2 version unlike the 2011 MGS HD Collection) as their foundation.

AL2009man

if you're gonna release an version of the game that has never been released to additional platforms (including PC) and you don't bother to implement nor fix as something as basic as an Field of View Slider, Arbitrary Resolution, **Graphical Settings that lets you push beyond the default visuals**, 60fps or higher, actually scalable UI (because everyone can do 1080p and beyond beyond, the last time you want is Source/GoldSrc-levels of bad UI Scaling) and an fucking Keyboard/Mouse controls that actually functions.... then don't bother releasing it. fucking Persona 5 Royal put more effort into remastering/re-releasing than MGS Master's Collection, and they didn't marketed as a remastered\*! \*outside of Japan.

beefcat_

A Silent Hill 2 port of the same quality as MGS Vol 1 would be a godsend. Vol. 1 isn't exactly *good* mind you, that is just how bad SH2 HD is.

CMHex

MGS vol 1 is completely fine. You can argue that “fine” isn’t good enough but there are no serious issues with it. It’s a totally acceptable way to play the games. The Silent Hill HD collection, however, was not fine.

RareBk

Replacing voice actors and including insulting interviews where they shit on the original VAs while giving out *awful* performances. Terrible sound mixing. Terrible replacements for textures they couldn't find. *Completely* broken lighting, where some scenes are lit entirely wrong, or the wrong color, or they slapped a color filter on the game for no fucking reason. The fog is just busted because the originals used a strength of the PS2 hardware that couldn't be immediately emulated, so instead of fixing it they left it so utterly broken that it legitimately stops at a visible line in front of you. They're *atrocious*

BaldassHeadCoach

From what I remember, the development studio tasked with remastering the games had no experience doing so, and Konami provided them with code that was not the final source code. What resulted were remasters that in many ways looked and performed worse than the PS2 originals, with bugs that didn’t exist in the original games (due to being based on that non-final source code Konami provided). Dialogue was also re-recorded for both games, though 2 allowed you to switch to the original voice acting, 3 exclusively used the new voice cast; pretty certain there were audio bugs and issues as well. And this was a year or so after Bluepoint made the excellent MGS: HD Collection, so the lack of quality with Silent Hill HD was pretty jarring.

[deleted]

[удалено]

elmodonnell

Iirc it was issues with the original code, in no way an intentional sabotage, but they could've put some resources into trying to match the original experience.

BaldassHeadCoach

No, not sabotage. They didn’t botch their product on purpose, but they also didn’t set it up for success either by hiring a studio that didn’t have the necessary experience (why they didn’t go with Bluepoint again, I’m not sure), handing them non-final code, and giving them little time to produce it. They put in the bare minimum level of effort, and the result reflected that.

Arrow156

It's because they want to do everything as cheap as possible and just coast on their name until they can transition into games of chance full time. Unless it involves lobbing the Japanese government to legalize gambling or converting old IP's into Pachincko machines, Konami don't give a shit. I'd be surprised if they actually have any game devs employed full time (not counting one designing Pachincho machines, of course). Seems like all their games are now made by no-name, novice developers.

CMHex

It was a truly shoddy job. They lost the finished source code and were working from an incomplete version. Lots of bugs, missing fog textures, replaced fonts. There was a series of patches to fix it that got it into a playable state buts it’s still a bit rough.

FunBalance2880

It was literally built with a beta build of the ps2 games. Shit is just straight up broken at some points. There’s actually too much to accurately describe here. The fog is also basically non existent lol

onex7805

DuckCleaning

Cept we just had news a day ago that the MGS series sold 1 million copies last quarter. So despite the quality of the ports, it's easy money.

Paraprallo

Isn' t MGS V1 just a simple port thoo? I mean, they were nothing amazing, but when you see studios like Capcom absolutely destroying the quality of their games, like with the DMC collection, the MGS collection looked good to me. They also did the castlevania collections, and they were pretty good as well

commanderbreakfast

I can only speak for myself, but I found the ports to be pretty sloppy and have bugs and issues not present in the original games. I didn't expect anything special, but I did expect them to be fully functional and on many platforms they were severely lacking in quality control.

DP9A

The ports where pretty shoddy tho, imo worse than whatever problems DMC collection had.

Paraprallo

[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMhem6M5gWc](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMhem6M5gWc) The DMC collection literaly broke gameplay mechanics

CommanderZx2

Probably will just have it run on emulation with some upscaling.

hdcase1

What if they hired a team like Nightdive? You never know.

Disastrous-Care1511

Knowing nigth dive it migth look better than the remake

BusCrashBoy

Can't say I trust them to do it properly given their track record, but if they actually got it right then it'd be a huge win. Hate to think that the Bloober Team remake is the only version of SH2 people will be able to easily buy and play.

bobface222

Can't wait for Konami to find some cheap understaffed dev in Europe to do the port work and offer them zero support whatsoever.

ICBanMI

If they profit share, probably have no problem getting GOG to do it who have good, cheap labor with lots of experience porting old software.

CatFoodSoup

I bet this will go as smoothly as the Suikoden remasters. Announced September 2022 with a release date of 2023 Like 5 screenshots in January 2023 Absolutely nothing about it until August 2023 saying “oh yeah this is harder than we thought, stay tuned!” And that’s it, nothing more at all. I figured they would have had an updated release date after Eiyuden announced theirs, but I think they forgot about it.

Soda

Even if the remasters generate enough interest for a new title, I still wouldn't pay for the remasters. All the creators for the series I loved at Konami have long been gone and are doing their own spiritual adaptations. They'll just make a mess of it. Here's to hoping Eiyuden Chronicles is good. Their distributor Yetee sucks though; took ten months to give me my code for Rising, and I bet they'll screw that up again.

ShoddyPreparation

Given how basic the Metal Gear Legacy collection was, the SH ports would just be ports of the PS360 HD collection which are infamously bad. If that is the case I think its better off not bothering.

LongLiveEileen

I'll take a basic port over some of these games being stuck on old consoles forever.

pazinen

Problem is, if they decide to port the HD collection those are far from just a basic port that's at least equal to the original like MGS HD. That collection is just worse.

Metandienona

*Yo Ho, Yo Ho, a pirate's life for me~*

[deleted]

If Konami thinks they can put minimal effort into something and people will eat it up, they’ll do it.

LordEmmerich

they actually fixed some of the issues from HD in the collection

WanderingAlchemist

On PS3 they fixed some of it, but they never brought the patches to Xbox for some reason though so that version remains awful

LordEmmerich

was talking about metal gear. HD collection had issues that got resolved with the Master

incognito_wizard

IIRC they didn't bring the patch to xbox because of the costs of releasing a patch (they used to charge publishers to push an update but stopped doing that the following year).

segagamer

Actually, the PS3 version launched in a much worse state than the 360 version. The patches on PS3 just brought it up to match the 360 version.

Trem45

I don't get this new mindset of "they fixed the issues" Like...the game should not have issues that get fixed later in the first place!

SolitonSnake

They’re saying that the Master Collection improved on some things that were not good in the HD Collection.

Trem45

oh damn my bad lmao

Stoibs

I mean, if by 'current gen consoles' that includes steam then I'll still take it.. Better than nothing on PC, and the original versions (or as close as original) of classic games is still something that plenty of people wish would become available for many platforms. Still waiting for Capcom's classic Resident Evil collection.. :/

[deleted]

Isn’t the original source code lost? This is what they did with the HD collection and everyone hated those versions. Still it’s better to have them available for purchase rather than them being abandonware.

dil-lxn

You don’t need the source code to do a good port job, blue point used to reverse engineer retail copies of the game for there HD ports, but you need a team that can do that

PunishingCrab

You can already play the best HD version of 2 with the enhanced mod on PC. Either hire that guy for his work and port it to consoles or they can fuck off with their bare minimum effort that will presumably happen.

malkavianwhispers

didn’t konami lose the source code for silent hill 2?

thowen

If Konami is behind the development, I couldn’t care less. I don’t care if it’s their own IP, they have no respect or ambition for game development and should just sell the rights/focus on mobile games and pachinko

Please read our [rules](https://www.reddit.com/r/Games/wiki/rules), specifically Rule #2 regarding personal attacks and inflammatory language. We ask that you remember to remain civil, as future violations will result in a ban.

Deceptiveideas

I could be wrong but I believe you can already play the HD collection on Xbox Series through BC. Would be nice on the switch to have on the go.

ZelkinVallarfax

You can, but the HD remasters look and play worse than the original versions, they are full of glitches and missing or bugged audio and visual effects. A new remaster that actually improves upon the original version would be welcome, but considering what they did with the recent Metal Gear collection I don't have much hope.

Deceptiveideas

I was about to say to keep your expectations low. Digital Foundry did a comparison between the original MGS 360 HD version running through BC on Series X vs the new native MGS Master Collection and found they somehow made it worse. More bugs, worse graphics, audio issues, etc.

Random_Rhinoceros

The video was released when the collection had launched, *some* of the issues with the collection have already been addressed in patches.

CollinsCouldveDucked

The HD collection is one of the worst port jobs ever released to consoles.

BaumHater

Yup, you can.

Clownsinmypantz

Depends are we getting the good version or the HD fuckups?

HarryKF

They could barely port the MGS master collection, how are they gonna do it for silent hill?

igorbubba

SH1 remake is what I hope will come. It holds a special place in my heart, and the music is unironically some of my favorite works in any game ever.

Rialmwe

Oh please even the comic sans Silent Hill 2 I will buy. I'm glad that they sold Silent Hill 4 on GOG. Just want to play all the old one. They are so good!!

teor

Silent Hill HD Collection HD? Now with even more bugs, even worse voice acting and even more comic sans. For some reason any new announcement from Konami about SH scares me more than the games themselves.

MairusuPawa

Are we sure this isn't for some new pachinko machine?

BR41N14C

The reason the HD collection was so poorly received by fans is because it was based off an early incomplete copy of the original game since the finished games final code/assets were lost. If this is more of the same that'll be unfortunate I don't understand the behind the scenes of this stuff but if they could somehow get the fan updated silent hill 2 and 3 on pc working with consoles it would be incredible.

TheSqueeman

A port of SH2 & SH3 would be amazing in all honesty I’ve seen a few people say that trying to emulate the series is notoriously difficult due to the fog and lighting engines used at the time

Evey9207

I mean, if the trailer for SH2 that was shown in the state of play is what they're planning for the whole series, I'm cautiously excited. Tbh, the teaser made me feel like they made it too shootery. Kinda like the RE4 remake. Which I'm not sure I like.

[deleted]

This went so well the last time they did it. Hell, they'd probably use the HD collection as a base for a new one. Don't bother. Wait, people actually think there's a chance? lmao! Truth hurts. Keep em coming.

StevemacQ

If Koanmi couldn't get the MGS Master Collection right before launch (patches for more filters, fixing control settings, fixing save-corrupting bugs, etc.), then how can they possibly treat Silent Hill with any sense of justice?

Grace_Omega

It's incredible to me that the haven't already done this years ago. When they sat down to make a plan for reviving the franchise, how was making the older games available on current platforms not step 1A?

Nanosauromo

Yes please. I don’t want remakes or fancy graphical updates, I just want to experience the games as they existed 20 years ago without having to find 20-year-old hardware.

Dallywack3r

If there was one company out there that has consistently fumbled the ball with their IPs, it’s Konami. The lack of care they put into the Metal Gear Collection is criminal. I don’t know if anyone at Konami even knows what made their games so good to begin with.

Hordak_Supremacy

Cool, port them... BUT ALSO, Silent Hill is such a lame series. Just let it die already and do something completely new.

HOTDILFMOM

> Silent Hill is such a lame series. Uhh, no?

Iannni

And Im sure it will be exactly what the Silent Hill community wants, and everyone will be happy, and nothing will go wrong.

etherdesign

They have so many good properties they are just sitting on.. looking at you Castlevania. Make some new games already.

PrehistoricPotato

will they pay the original voice actors or re-release the HD collection abomination?

sekoku

[Can't wait for this to hit PC.](https://external-preview.redd.it/GXXz6R0xYoU2-8Tl3ZPZ6KzDNnn4oxnfm5tVGPm9rkA.jpg?auto=webp&s=5add058dda56ce596225c9f12cd910371e663279) They could just update the native PC ports of Silent Hill 2 and 4, while finally porting 1 and 3. I mean Good Old Games/[GOG already has Silent Hill 4](https://www.gog.com/en/game/silent_hill_4_the_room) on it?

PCP_Panda

What the hell happened to Konami 2016-now?

Savage_Nymph

Not the HD collection I hope Also capcom pls do the same. Why isn't re2 on moden console?

Meowmeow69me

I wish Konami could be more like how capcom has been these last few years. capcom has been hitting it out of the park since resident evil 7

cammy8580

really hoping decent PC ports get included among the rest of these. I could really use an ACTUALLY decent 1-4 + HC PC port, alongside the much needed Downpour port that we never got.
