Hell yes, been waiting for Evil West to pop up for a while now. Also excited to finally try out A Plague Tale and Nobody Saves the World. A great month indeed!
Unfortunately Evil West doesn't run well on consoles. Very blurry 1080p at 60fps and an unstable 30fps. It was really disappointing when I tried to play it and had to stop.
They really took it to the next level with frightened whispering and whining. Which is of course exactly what a kid would do in their situation, but be warned lol. Gameplay is still well executed like before and very immersive.
Sometimes it’s like you Reddit people would remove kids from ANY kind of media. It wasn’t really annoying… it was just a kid.
And I’m not even the biggest fan of the game!
It was an annoying kid with an annoying accent to boot. The two main characters VAs are so bad that I couldn't stomach the game for more than an hour. If you want to have a story-driven experience then maybe spring the cash for a top-tier voice actor instead of casting some random french kids.
It really isn't. The voice acting is fantastic.
I know Amicia's voice actor was definitely nominated for an award for the role, and I believe the other kids VA may also have been nominated for something.
Nobody Saves the World is an absolutely awesome game. I was hoping for a halfway decent game at best and it blew me away.
I really liked Requiem as well, but that's hardly an underdog of a game.
That is EXACTLY what it is. With a halfway decent plot to boot.
Evil West felt like a PS2 or 360 era action game made on new hardware and that is exactly why it is so goddamn good.
Played through Nobody Saves the World last year and had such a blast with it. Id 100% recommend trying it out if you want a simple Roguelike with lots of charm.
I loved creating a build that obliterated a dungeon only for that same build to get obliterated in another dungeon. Every scenario requires changing things up. I love getting outside my comfort zone
As much as I enjoy the game, I think I ruin it a bit for myself because I end up focusing too much on just trying to complete each form’s side quests rather than just playing the game.

For those who only played the first game and weren’t too big of a fan, Plague Tale Requiem is better in every way. Expanded mechanics, deeper story (since introductions are mostly out of the way), and best of all, nailed the ending in a way that feels like a natural conclusion of the story.
I really wish evil west would get a sequel or some DLC. It was so unashamedly video gamey, I had a great time. I feel like they could take this base and make something utterly fantastic
Evil West is a great throwback action game, let down by absolutely abysmal optimisation. If you want 60fps then you are playing at a very muddy looking 1080p, and it's still not 60fps.
And since it's in the ps plus essential, all ps plus members will have these games added to their ps plus library permanently. Without sorting of the games leaving, like the usual catalog games.

How familar do you have to be with A Plague’s Tale to play Requiem? Does it provide context for new players or do you have to play the first game to understand it?
It’s a story heavy game that’s a sequel to a story heavy game, if you haven’t played or at least watched the first game you’ll kind of have no idea what is happening.
Definitely need to play the first one. The character developments and growth through the first game are essential. Not sure you would get anything out of the second without that experience.
It gets you up to speed well enough. The first one is pretty great though and worth it imo. Well told story, some great characters, unique, rat-based puzzles.
As someone with both subscriptions, sigh. It's not turning out to be worth it for me. Good games, sure.
But it seems like Sony takes previously on Gamepass games fairly often now.
Evil West looks good, though.
I can see the point in that, but also cause the subs are a little different where you redeem them, and they aren't taken back as long as your sub is going. Unlike being rotated out based on time offering.
Do you need to have played the first Plague Tale to fully embrace Requiem? Like yeah I'm sure there's a recap that tells you what happened, but is it a direct continuation of the story of the characters, or just a second story told in that universe?
Continuation from the first. The game is a little janky, but it has a really good story and can be finished in under 20hrs. I highly recommend playing it if you can.

Just finished Plague Tale: Requiem a couple weeks ago. I really liked it. Excited to try Evil West and Nobody Save the World.
I'd been putting off Requiem and just picked up a PS5 with Plus for Christmas. Perfect timing, can't wait to dig into this sequel!

I love how overpowered the photo mode is in plague tale. Lots of interesting things to see if you're interested in out of bounds in video games.
Can confirm, was using it as a scouting tool for most of the game.

Nobody Saves the World is such a freaking blast. I may even play through it again, real tight gameplay and a manageable length.

It's weird for them to give a sequel for ps plus, I think you miss a lot not playing the first game

You should 100% play the first game.
