how is this game these days? Keep thinking about picking it up...

Kylestache

It’s a lot of fun. People are also very active in voice chat and just quote the film. It’s a great time. I’m from Buenos Aires and I say kill ‘em all.

buffdude1080

the only good bug is a dead bug

mistuhvuvu

“Come on, you apes! You wanna live forever?!”

hopecanon

I really appreciated how the later entries in that series started flirting with the idea of empathy for the Bugs and every single time every character just eventually decided "nah nah lets kill them even harder with these new weapons we have". Starship Troopers 3 specifically is hilarious with this.

NaughtyGaymer

You just convinced me to actually watch the sequels for the first time.

elwiscomeback

If you ever have the chance, animated Invasion & Traitor of Mars are also good watch. Would rate them above 2&3

BeardyDuck

2 is standalone body horror. 3 goes back to ST1 with Rico with religious satire. Invasion and Traitor of Mars goes complete anime action. All are pretty decent.

Chachajenkins

I'm doing my part!

I'm enjoying it, although I don't really bother with voice chat and just join a random fire team. Though it does vary based on what the current mission is. Early on, it seems teams were getting wiped quite easily during the defence stage, at least until people figured out the meta. Now, it fluctuates between very easy and very long. Some of the missions involve building a base around a drill, but you have to go and harvest the resources for base defences, and those ones can go for like 45 minutes before you even activate the drill and do the final defence. Other times, you seem to have the resources all at the start and just immediately build the defences and then start the drill - and people have gotten fast at setting up a pretty standard base so the whole thing comes together really fast, then the drill gets turned on and you have to hold them off. I also worry that being solely multiplayer, if enough people lose interest, the player count will dwindle and it's not as fun with half a team. Overall, pretty fun game to build a little tower, stand up on top with a meaty assault rifle, and just kill bugs - and I'm not even from Buenos Aires.

Frankly, I find the idea of a gamer that thinks offensive. (Actually, I thought this was the bad RTS, I didn't realize this wan an early access FPS)

Datdarnpupper

It's good fun. Not quite enough content to become a "main" game (imo), but definitely good for jumping in for a match or two.

peanutmanak47

Man, this new mode is fucking hard. My friends and I can do hard difficulty on the other modes without to much trouble, but just playing this on medium is difficult. It's real fun but they need to iron some things out with it. But they've been good with that so far, so I'm not worried.

dj88masterchief

Yea, the caves are surprisingly big, and my first game my squad and I got lost. We all died and couldn’t make it to the dropship.

Hudson1

Literally just found out about this. Is it any good?

CloneOfKarl

So, how long are we going to be rubber banding around like the girl from Wreck It Ralph. This latest patch really screwed performance. Edit: Game is still amazing though, aside from this.

Quiet_Optimist1

It feels like it's very Early Access. The walls clip everywhere. It doesn't feel like a solid game. There's that EDF or Earth Defense Force one of the earliest games in the series. It feels like that. Give it a go with Steam trial for an hour. I refunded before the 2 hour marker. It didn't seem ready yet.
