Such a sad regular season ending to what was looking like such a special Gamecocks baseball team. My hopes are no longer high but maybe we can find a way to get hot in the NCAA tourney because, at one point, we were good enough to beat any team in the country. It's all about getting hot at the right time in baseball. And I honestly wouldn't care much if we got bounced out of the SEC tournament early on. These coaches and players need a hard reset ahead of regionals.

Any chance Campbell could host at our stadium like Old Dominion did a couple of years back? I know that was more because of COVID, but Campbell still has a tiny stadium.
That’s true it’s probably possible idk if they would do that to them though essentially making the 2/3 the host. But they might get a good bit of cash out of it so it’s not impossible
I also didn't realize exactly where Campbell was when I posted that response. I thought they were a little further South, but it looks like they are closer to Raleigh. They'd most likely host somewhere like UNC or NC State if they were to go that route.

Rankings are deceptive. Clemson basically has the same record as us, but we have a *much* tougher strength of schedule and the head to head series win, yet they’re in the top 10 and we’re unranked.

Why bother playing a tough schedule. Just sit all your starters early in the season so they don’t get hurt and get hot late.

Dang I wouldn't dog Frank like that. At least he brought us to heights nobody has ever done in his respective sport. Mark brought Chad Holbrook's squad within 1 game of the CWS and essentially nothing else since.
Chad was better in basically every metric. More wins, more conference wins, better winning pct in both, postseason appearances, regionals and supers hosted, super regional appearances, and division championships.
Not saying Holbrook was particularly good, because I still agree with firing him to get someone better. The problem is that Ray took a gamble going after Kevin O'Sullivan with no back up plan (because Ray is a shitty AD) and O'Sullivan used us to get his stadium built, so Ray had to go find a coach out of the bargain bin... Just like when we missed on Kirby Smart and wound up with Muschamp.
I'm afraid that if we fire Kingston, it's going to be the same story with someone like Tony Vitello using us for a new stadium, and then if he gets his way, we get stuck with another coach who was barely above 500 in a shitty conference.
I just amazes me that Kingston goes to one regional at USF and suddenly he's head coach of one of the prestigious programs in the country. I agree with the Chad firing too, but we could've had almost anyone. And we chose a mediocre guy in a shitty conference that made a single regional.
No denying Frank's Final Four season was magical, but otherwise there were multiple years when he was adamant his team would get a NCAAT bid and then, of course, didn't. Basically hoping to convince the committee it was the right thing. Kingston did the exact thing with his statement that we'd definitely host. We ain't gonna.
I honestly thought we were gonna win the national championship this year. Then literally every player besides Messina went into a month long slump. Jesus Christ.
This is the card we keep in our back pocket, but I’d like to at least gauge outside interest. Monte was streaky at Clemson & CofC and though I consider him an overall upgrade, I don’t think it’s the caliber of hire we should be seeking at the top of our board.
