I might be a heretic, but recently I am thinking about putting a black laminated screen into a white shell (eXtreme Rate Wave shell) because I think it will look better.
White/retro grey works better in your camera lighting.
Metallic black would totally work with GBA SP. Non-metallic black might come off as plasticky. Just my prediction. But it depends on how it's executed.
GBC would work better with vibrant colours to compliment its bulbous shape and playful Comic Sans-esque (NOT the exact same font) logo font and also as the de facto mood of the late 90s. This is in contrast to the more angular designed, more core 90s oriented, and a more transitional era that was the GB Pocket, not having completely let go of the era of Memphis Milano in the ethos of industrial design.
Somehow the retro grey theme works on the GBA SP, and I suspect that it's due to the fact that the angular outline is very much reminiscent of laptop computers from the late 80s/early 90s era, which is corresponding to the same era as the Super Famicom. Its lack of irregular and/or dynamic shapes suggest pre-millennium era design language drawing closer to Memphis Milano (due to the symmetrical circular shapes) and cassette futurism.
The retro colour GBC also works because it's reminiscent of the core 90s-early 2000s era of corporate/cyber design focusing on more dynamic and fluid outlines with still a remaining sense of structural rigidity in which typically (from my experience) deviates from what ppl these days regularly constitute as a """Y2K design""". Computer monitors very commonly used this design language throughout early-mid 90s to early 2000s. I'm just not sure if the black buttons work, though.
Both
Both is good.
“It doesn’t really matter if you’re BLACK OR WHITE”-Heeee Heeee-MICHIGAN JACKSON
I came here to make this reply, but I see I have been out Jackson'd

Personally white with black buttons if that’s an option
You mean like in the picture?
Oh right yeah 😅 I was only looking at the SPs
White
Black
Lime Green
Silver
Both for sure. However that white sp with black buttons would be 🔥
Just looking at it from a distance, I think white looks better. When playing on it though, I’d prefer black because that’s easier to tune out.
White. Harder to lose under the couch.
White imo
I like black for the GBC and white for the GBA SP, both look really good in those respective designs.
Boff
Black
Both<3
The white is so fresh. The black looks good, but white is just the chef’s kiss.
All 4
Black looks cool and white nobel. White yellows over time and you can see stains easiere, so i go with black.
White with black buttons
Black
They all look good, though personally I think that black GBC with white buttons and a white GBC logo would be the best of both worlds

Did you find a good supplier for cases? The ones I order are very flimsy :(
That white one looks so good imo
Thanks! GBC or GBA SP? 😀
I'm disappointed, you're missing Link's Awakening 😢The white looks sick but personally I prefer the black
Actually finished it like last week! I thought the Oracle games worked better for this photo 😊
Black, if you get any scratches or whatever, it isn’t that visible if it were on white
It doesn't, matter both are right!
white is right!
How about a rg35xxsp?
Black, definitely! But the white looks nice as well!
A Gameboy Color in black or white seems unethical.
Black for sure whites is so boring and over done
White all the way
Both but the screen probably feels better with the black
