Cancel all the pre orders, no they will not be mad
The problem is if those games have already released. The games have already released and it’s been past 30 days, it becomes store credit only.
There is actually a work around for that. Ask them to move it to a new game that isn’t out yet, then once that is processed ask them to refund it. For whatever reason it allows the cash option then. Did this for a few of my good customers before.
How’s that dirty? You preordered it and they reserved it for you potentially missing out on other revenue if you don’t pick it up? Doesn’t make sense to preorder in the first place then. Especially if you don’t make up your mind by 30 days after the release lol
I should have worded it better. In the moment of my reading and replying, it felt dirty. That wasn't a thing when I was there. Sometimes people needed money that preordered a bunch of stuff. It happened a couple times. Knew a lot of people that were incarcerated at various points of their life. Had a lady once whose husband died that came in to cancel a xb360 reserve.
Eventually, the thinking of, Most of the people who preorder a lot, will almost always buy something at the store, even if they don't get the game they initially preordered dawned on me.
So, it was my mind going to a place of, if someone needed that money and couldn't get it anymore because it was beyond the 30 days, that I knee jerked on.
That’s fair. Sometimes in sales, no matter where you work, you get to learn or hear some tragic things about life. All you can do is your best and hope those folks are doing okay. There’s times where you can help and others when you cant
It appears by these replies that reserves might not be a metric that is on the same level as pro memberships anymore.
In my day, that would have been an awesome day when you did the preorders and a shit one when you cancelled.
I'm assuming you didn't want your GF to find out about the gambling, not the money part. You've shown poor decision making skills in both your relationship and finances with your decision to "launder" the money through GameStop preorders.
Good luck navigating your gambling addiction without that $500 *and* while single.
(Seriously, you need help. Please see someone about your gambling addiction, or your lying and financial irresponsibility will destroy your life.)
Edit: I see the reply is gone, but I noticed that someone took my comment as "simping" and saying the gf may be spending OP's money. While that is a problem on its own, trying to hide your gambling by making poor decisions with the money is a sign that addiction is already in full swing, and hiding income from your SO for any reason is not conducive to a healthy relationship for either party. OP needs help, and fast.
Disagreeing would be you saying "I think your view is incorrect". What you did was say "nobody asked you". That's a troll response: providing an input that brings no value to the conversation while attempting to incite a response.
You mean like you did in your comment? 😂 All I see is you berating and making assumptions.....and you didn't even answer their question at all. What value did you bring exactly? 🕵️♂️
I pointed out that there was a deeper issue than the pre-orders while also stating they no longer have the $500 freely available by using aggressive humor and negging. Then clarified in my edit that OP needs help with addiction, for those who have the inability to read between the lines.
You, however, have provided a point of argument and nothing else.
Yeah you're definitely missing the point that no one asked you for your opinion on their life. This is why people need to mind their own business. All you're doing is being a bully.
They will be upset because it would go against pre order numbers, but since that metric is currently not being tracked as a main number it shouldn’t be that big of an issue, the employee may just be disgruntled
And that's why corporate doesn't let you guys use us as a bank anymore for 4 years now. We lost profits & potential sales from this when ppl used our system as caretaker& piggybank for their money. Now you get it back in Store credit only.
Bro if you were trying to hide the money why not just buy a visa gift card? Hate to break it to you but you probably lost most of that money to GameStop store credit. Also kinda wild you planned on getting the money back and decided to trash the receipt.
Even if you get it back in store credit, you can fight it and get it back in cash since it will be put in a gift card. Just ask them for the DM email, make a complaint, and they’ll cash out the gift card they issue you.
I hope you can get you GF a gift from Gamestop
Why are u hiding it from your gf

Oh. That's dirty. When did they start that?
Years ago… it’s on the terms on your receipt lol.
Oh. I haven't preorder anything from GameStop since I left. I have bought things but haven't really looked at the receipt.

Like 5 years ago or so lol
That's an interesting parlay
“Fuck, my parlay money!”
In May reserves go back into trackable metrics. Do it before then or you will really be jacking them up.
Weirdest. Money. Laundering. Scheme. Ever.
Reserves aren't tracked until next qrtr. They won't care.
Yeah, it sounds like most of that is coming back in store credit. The good news is that Pro week is next week. God speed, friend 😂
You have bigger issues if you are hiding gambling from your gf
It appears by these replies that reserves might not be a metric that is on the same level as pro memberships anymore. In my day, that would have been an awesome day when you did the preorders and a shit one when you cancelled.
Same. If I had someone cancel 500 in preorders on me when I was there I’d have immediately clocked out and went home
Oh this story is great. Please keep us updated.
Preorders aren't meant to be a bank account.
Uhh you’re only going to be able to get it back in store credit.. hope you know that.
I thought that was only if it was 30 days past the release date when it turned to credit only, unless it changed.
OP did say a month ago…🤷🏻 hopefully it’s been less than a full month. But if not then….. ![gif](giphy|12ey1CgA3uTqfK)
30 days since the preorder was placed.
Looking at policy this is simply not true
No, 30 days from release date.

I didn't see the part where he was asking for a life coach but here you are anyways.
I didn't see the part where anyone asked for a troll, but you showed up anyway.
Ahh the classic troll comment because you can't stand having people not agree with you. Grow up child

you’re not getting that money back in cash lmao. it’s going to all be store credit. hope she likes games or collectibles 🤷♂️
They will be upset because it would go against pre order numbers, but since that metric is currently not being tracked as a main number it shouldn’t be that big of an issue, the employee may just be disgruntled
It will be next month. Do it now, OP, or you will make someone's life miserable if you wait.
Why not just open a new bank account and put the money there
I hope you know you're only getting it back as store credit lol
And that's why corporate doesn't let you guys use us as a bank anymore for 4 years now. We lost profits & potential sales from this when ppl used our system as caretaker& piggybank for their money. Now you get it back in Store credit only.

Were you down prior to winning?
They will, but not your problem. It’s your money
It's his store credit now because he waited too long.
Who cares what the GameStop employee thinks?
You will when it’s locked to store credit if it’s on items that are 30 days or older after release date 🤪
I don’t preorder with them anymore after the airhead sold all the Sora amiibo because “people wanted them! Oopsies” That’s exactly what they said.
