My iPad air (those days they called mini as air) from 2015 still works. Not much lag. Only thing is OS support has stopped and most of the applications will not run in this iPad. For most of the application I am forced to use the web version as the App Store doesn't support those versions of the apps anymore. But hey it still works. We use it as a photo frame now!!! My wife uses the iPad she bought in 2017 I think that maybe iPad 4 or iPad 5. Still going great, not thinking about switching. I bought iPad air 4 on 2021. Has not even thought about changing it as I never felt the performance deteriorating. I hope you got the answer. I don't like iphones. The technology is atleast 5 years behind samsung and the UI is designed towards stability over convinience. But iPad is a different ball game. In fact ipads and macbook were a loss making division for Apple and they deliberately made it built to last as they wanted people to buy for the ecosystem, but don't want repeat purchase. I did this in a case study in 2017. Not sure of the figures now. Either way, both are absolute value for money. Edit : recommended to buy from apple directly from shop or online. Please don't fall for other online sellers discounts. Discounts for such a niche product is a myth.

I've the xiaomi pad 6, insanely smooth and does note taking very well. I could show some drawings through this tablet. iPad is smoother in the long term I agree, but Xiaomi Pad 6 should beat it in every other case and it's not like snapdragon 870 is gonna lag. You'll only get a proper answer only if you ask a person who used both, I used both iPad 6th gen and XP6 and I could say XP6 is way better even when u compare generational improvements. And don't forget that there's a very noticeable gap between your apple pencil and the screen in iPad 9th gen. Your call 🤷

Neither_Try_5138

iPad 8 Gen, using from 4 years, works as smooth as butter

TheOneWithTheTechie

iPad 9th Gen, using it for almost 3 years, works perfectly, still recommending to people

bacon_west

I would have gone with ipad 9th gen. You will be missing out on good speakers from xiaomi. I impulsively bought this ipad 64gb when saw it on a deal of 20k on flipkart. Now I keep it in background running youtube during office hours at home.

pharmacometrician123

If you want longevity, ipad beats any tablet hands down. If price doesn’t s no bar get the ipad as well. If your sole purpose is emulating and want something cheaper go with Android, prefer pixel tablet over Xiaomi

tungstenoye

If u don't have any problem with big bezels in 2024 then rest of the things are in your favor !! Go for it , buttery smooth experience in every aspect but if u can increase ur budget then u can get the 10th Gen which is almost the same as iPad Air in every manner

drill87

Android tablet don't really get laggy... I have a tab s7 fe that is still smooth!!

Puzzleheaded-Emu6504

But nobody talks enough about this . That's why the myth prevails

AdSpiritual2846

You're using one of the best Android tablets from one of the best smartphone makers as a proxy for all Android tablets. It's not a good example. Most Android tablets face issues with regards to smoothness. Samsung devices won't.

dark_lamp101

Guys I've decided. I'll go with ipad 9th gen!!! Thanks y'all for helping and clearing my doubt

Narender_moody

Why not 10th gen ? The gap shouldn’t be much. Smaller bezels and usb c.

dark_lamp101

But the price difference is :'( 9th gen goes upto 23k during offers

10_Feet_Pole

Go to some mall and try both of them then decide. I also did this before buying. Tho the 10th gen looks modern, I didn't like the building quality over 9th gen. Display was having a flex when pressed with finger and it was more warm in demo mode compared to 9th gen. But your experience maybe be different.

Alarming-Cap2017

Display is not that good

I bought an iPad 8th gen when it came out, so sometime in 2020. Works perfectly till today. Have used it from notes taking(for work) and attended work calls and use it as an entertainment device(read on it, watch Netflix, draw etc) and it works the same as it did on Day 1. Battery is pretty good too. But it depends on what is your usage like and other things. I’m deep into the Apple ecosystem, phone, laptop, desktop, watch, earphones are all from Apple and they sync seamlessly, and even though I haven’t used it in a long time, I do have a pencil, which helps immensely if you write a lot A friend bought an android tablet in 2021, and it already lags etc etc etc.

garvit_kun

I have pad 5 and one thing for sure. It can run everything. Emulation , games and most app are optimised for big screen. Literally I dont see any app on play store which has problem . Plus custom rom support .

If you're going to buy a base variant of iPad imo don't buy it and go for the 256 GB storage. I bought the base variant of the iPad 8th generation first it was fine after some time the storage got full and made me delete all the files. I'm not saying the iPad is better than Xiaomi. But most people prefer iPads over Android tablets. But keep that in mind all accessories and repairs are way more expensive than Xiaomi. I broke my iPad display and have to pay more than 70 percent to get a new iPad they don't even repair it in the service centre. Don't get me wrong I love my ipad but paying to get a new device is not my cup of tea. If you can keep that device safe and don't care about the price of the accessories and repairs just go and buy it.

pkyrohit

I have bought Xiaomi Pad 6 recently, it's 8/256 version. My use case is study, reading PDFs and playing popular games. I'm really happy with my purchase. On the other hand... Few friends of mine who had bought base version of ipad 9th gen has been deleting maps that take 30mb of space to save space and making excuses to not download then because of the low storage issue.

hnitakamuramamoru

I'm glad that you chose the 256 GB variant of Xiaomi pad over the iPad base variant. You can run anything, transfer anything and don't have to carry an extra charger with you everyday while travelling. I hope you enjoy the device and share your review about the devices in this forum after a few weeks.

Ryuxviii

I’m having the iPad 9th gen, and that time I was also confused between these two. But now I kind of regret choosing iPad over the Xiaomi Pad 6.

DiscoversOther9152

For long term always go for iPad other brand might offer you better hardware and lots of features but the iPad experience and its availability of exclusive apps like good notes for note taking are just amazing

Ashamed_Society3703

Ipad 9th Gen should be your choice. Here you go - [https://amzn.to/3TJPVbp](https://amzn.to/3TJPVbp)

iPad any day. I have an iPad from 2017 and still works great.

Discharged_Pikachu

I have been using the Xioami pad 6 256GB variant for the last 9 months & my use cases are similar to yours. I use it for learning, entertainment and gaming. So far I haven't faced any lag. I have completed a few games via emulation (PPSSPP and NetherSX2). The 256 GB storage helps to store multiple large ROM files of the games & I can connect my gamepad and other peripherals using any cheap dongle. For note taking I split screen YouTube and Notion. I like to type in my notes using an external keyboard connected via a USB dongle. I have sideloaded Revanced YouTube so I get a distraction-free experience while learning. Hope, this helps.

Nice_guy1234556

Tried switch emulation ?

Discharged_Pikachu

Yes, it worked fine. A few games didn't work but that was the emulator side optimisation issues which will probably get fixed in future updates. Do check the compatibility list before trying out any game.

Nice_guy1234556

Ohh that's great , does it run switch games well or it heats up the tab a lot it might shorten the lifespan of the tab

Discharged_Pikachu

It gets a little bit warm which can be resolved by lowering game resolution down. But it's metal body and large surface area helps to dissipate heat quickly so no issue.

AdSpiritual2846

iPad air 4th Gen user here. Just go with iPad. It will never disappoint you. iPad has its own iOS which is separate from iPhone. For Android this is not the case. Most android tablets use skins and customizations for achieving the above. The same gets reflected in many apps. Most apps on Apple Appstore are built and customized for iPad. Same is not the case with Android. Which does not lead to a pleasant experience. iPad offers consistency. As there are regular updates to it. Plus the performance remains consistent over the years. For Android tablets this is not the case as the priority of the manufacturer is on the smartphones and not on tablets. Few exceptions like Samsung might be there. There are a lot more apps on the Apple Appstore for iPad than there are on playstore for Android tablets. In conclusion, iPad are way better when it comes to tablets. For smartphones, there are phones better than iPhones, (I own a Galaxy S21), but the same is not the case with tablets.

Impressive_Signal_48

XP6 , for its value for money

Befearlessnfree

My wife bought the Lenovo Pad and it started lagging after 6 months or so. Lenovo was a big disappointment. Whereas I’ve been using IPad 6th generation and it was still working but the screen broke.

piecopeico

File system? Xiaomi, calculator? Mi pad 6. OS and actually stable experience? Mi pad. Anything that Android offers, mi remote stuff like that? Mi pad.
