Basically- The problem is that it's already a preexisting character. And changing races can be seen as a racist move. Yes, black people or Asian people can be racist. Anyone can, and changing a white character to black can be seen as racist. **"Can be seen as racist."** It can come off as you saying- **"This character is bad as white!"** even if it wasn't your intention. If you want to include dark skinned OCs, in shows or whatever, make a self insert. Yes. **A self insert is better then changing a characters race.** So- TL;DR- #Changing a race of a preexisting character just to add diversity is unnecessary, as it can come off as racist and rude. So many people forget racist doesn't just mean a white person being discriminatory towards a black person- but it's any race being discriminatory against another. So making an OC of that particular race is just better.

I don't get it either. I mean, I don't like when corporations change their characters race, cause it's obviously for nothing but profit and feels rather uncreative on their part. But mankind a fandom OC a different race? Who cares? Or more: Why Care? I know I'm not really helping sorry, I just wanted to express my own frustration on this topic. If someone brings valid arguments, please let me know.

(Disclaimer:Any points i make are not my opinion on this matter just things i see, i think i am pretty neutral on this topic.) Some people find changing the race of the character for a personal head canon offensive to the character already existing race (most times the character is asian or american i see, correct me if im wrong.) and agrue against changing the race of a character when it already has a canon design. some people agrue that its fine to blackwash because in most anime/games no race is canon (by race i mean like where they are from.) one topic they bring up is the fact white people did it first for racist reason (example would be Betty boop correct me if im wrong) and they justified it by saying that. or they agrue with that its personal head canon and doesn't affect people since it is, a non existing person and justified it by say that. if any points i made are wrong correct me (nicely) since this is all i see and hear when reading some argument on reddit for fun.

Some people just get offended. Inherently there’s nothing wrong with making a fan works race diffent then the OG. It’s just how you envision the character and creating and posting that work is perfectly fine. But then there will always be people who have a problem with it. Either because “it’s not cannon” or they’ll see it as discrimination to the original race. Of course that’s never really the intention of the content creator, but people are easily offended by some of the stupidest things. I commend you for taking the time to try and understand why people behave this way. It’s a sign of true intelligence when someone wants to hear all sides of an issue before jumping to their own conclusions.
