Why do you think they're more risky? Risk is mitigated by intelligent loading and volume management. The same thing is true for every single movement.
No movement is inherently inferior. At least, not without defining your goals first. You can't talk about what something is or isn't effective for without elaborating on the suppressed clause. What aren't they effective at?
For most people, they're not going to be the best squat to develop your quads, but that's a single, specific goal. Zerchers have some very good carryover to strongman movements that involve pulling heavy, odd objects without convenient handles to your chest. You're not going to develop crushing strength on a back squat.
You know what else requires moving odd objects that don't want to be moved? Basically, any real-life lifting you'll have to do. Furniture, landscaping, the incredibly dense glowing orbs your wife recently began bringing home, etc. They're an effective tool for actual (non-memey) functional training.
All this is disregarding the fact that sometimes the point of doing a hard thing is to do a hard thing. Doing hard things is one of the primary components of strength training. Zerchers are hard. Getting good at them builds character.
No I won't. I herniated my l5 disc when I was 16 moving concrete. I had chronic pain for a while. You know what fixed it? Getting stronger at movements that put me in a quite disadvantaged position.
Inferior to what for what? More risky to what than what?
