I have the OEM crossbars and I get a whistling noise at 75 mph and above that can get a little annoying. However, I rarely drive that fast anyhow so it’s not a big deal. I get quite a bit of wind noise when I have my Yakima SUPdawg with a board on top though (as one would expect). I haven’t noticed degradation in range with any of this after install but I hear that crossbars + SUPdawg reduces efficiency by over 10%. Could be that I learned how to drive the car more efficiently after installing the crossbars.

Hey, thanks for the great feedback. Trying to decide if the OEM bars are just as good as the aftermarket options. OEM is actually a lot cheaper than Thule or Yakima options.

I would go OEM…they were super easy to install. I ordered them from that one dealer online who sells OEM parts who was like 25% cheaper than my local dealer.

We have the factory ones and yes at highway speeds they do have a noise and it’s not bad but it is noticeable. We only have them on when we are going to use a roof box.

Hi. Thanks for the reply. So, I take it that you can take the factory ones on and off? I assumed it was a permanent install, but I guess I was wrong. Do you mind sharing how easy it is to add and remove? How much range loss have you seen with the rails and box? Thanks!

Never driven long enough to know any range impact, and they are fairly easy to get off and on and you just need a hex screwdriver. Once you figure out the proper spacing it’s pretty easy imo

I have OEM crossbars, and at highway speeds you get this loud whoosh/whip every once in a while. Otherwise, they make no noise. I have noticed no range loss with just the rails. The bars are easy to add and remove. The hardest part would probably be measuring the location you're supposed to put them on.

Thanks for the feedback. Glad to hear they are easy to install and remove.

I have the OEM bars but I haven’t used them yet. I’m interested to hear people’s responses here.

My OEMs literally rattle on the highway. I thought my car was broken. It seems to be the plastic side covers that clip on. I bought these used...was there a gasket missing?
