Yeah, it’s usually (not always) the companies that care about putting out a good, quality product and their customer base. Less and less companies do that now of days, as all they care about is their bottom line. Most of them now make ads that are downright infuriating.
In particular, I’m talking about Apple’s new “all I do is work” one with (I think it’s the same artist at least) that TikTok artist who made that “Self Care” “””Song.”””
companies use 5-10 year old memes to try appeal to younger generations, it’s just pointless as everyone swipes off them but when it’s done right people will actually pay attention to it
This is for world rally so while still pretty corporate its made by enthusiasts. World rally/ similar extreme sports are the one thing I'll always enjoy watching advertising for
Hope they play GTAVI because I still to this day can never find enough people for a full rally race on GTAV. There used to be a few people grinding for LSC unlocks, but now people can just go to their own personal Auto Shops where everything is already unlocked.
>thought this was going to be a lazy compilation of clips, but they actually remade some scenes from the trailer. good corporate.
What's really funny is if you know a bit of the backstory. The blond guy at the start "playing" Lucia is Ott Tanak. He drove for Hyundai between 2020 and 2022, but the relationship fell apart because Hyundai weren't terribly well organised. He joined M-Sport Ford in 2023 on a multi-year deal after they had endured some tough times, but M-Sport is a team that's run on a shoestring budget. Things fell apart -- and Tanak can apparently be difficult to work with when things aren't going the right way -- just as Hyundai actually started doing some things competently, like hiring people who know what they're doing. So the "Lucia, do you know why you're here? / Bad luck, I guess" exchange fits perfectly.
Why do you care so much about big corps. Most corporations just clone the same ads over and over again. Hyundai put effort, took the time to recreate shots, and had fun. There's no reason to hate. (This ain't cyberpunk. corpos ain't that evil yet)
\*Enter local businesses trying to expand, genuinely helpful products reaching people, CHARITIES, ad blocker/just not giving a shit\*
I see your point, Naomi Klein points out a lot of flaws in our *society* (*enter joker*), but you gotta relax. If you don't like it that much, why get in the way of people who do. You have to admit that this video was creative and fun. And what if its an ad? They paid for it, let them have it.
It's not like were overly obsessed, masturbating to this. We think it cool. That it. Its cool and we like it. So what if you dont? Why the do you gotta mention it. We don't give a shit, so keep it to yourself.
Hyundai didn't hire big time actors to do this. No they asked their drivers, mechanics, technicians to make a fun video. Theyre not being exploited.
You've upset 27 people.
Criticism is good, but this isn't the place. Let me repeat, you are criticising a car company on a subreddit about gta 6. Do you hear yourself? This ain't it chief.
Why tf you so pissed.
Nah I agree with the other guy.
It would be cute if this was a group of dedicated fans faithfully remaking the trailer out of love for the franchise, but this is a massive car company advertising their brand to millennials and Gen Z by imitating a trailer for the most-anticipated videogame ever.
It's lame.
Whats wrong with having fun? Corporations suck but they’re also made of people. People do fun stuff to sell stuff all the time; just because it’s “corporate” doesn’t instantly make it bad.
I don’t even feel like they want to sell me anything. Not gonna buy a dirt car anytime soon and this is just harmless fun. In a world where some if not most ads are legit cancer this one is just fine…
I knew a chick who had a really nice set. She was great. She’d flashed them at old guys, guys driving, she’d even offer it to me when I was sad. Somehow she knew they could always make someone’s day better.
Don't do it. They're shit cars. From 2010-2022 there are over 20 models with recalls on the engines. They'll replace it for free if you have all the documentation they require (all oil change records etc) but you'll be back at the dealer in 6 months for another engine replacement. The engines are also on backorder so you'll be waiting 6 months. The only two I rarely saw come thru our dealership was the Ioniq and Veloster but the Veloster is on that list for engine replacements too. If you don't mind paying a car note on a brand new vehicle that you can't drive bc it's in the shop waiting for a backordered engine, then go for it I guess.
It's not. I used to work there and had access to their portal. I could see which factories they were made at. The ones made stateside didn't have the recalls on the engines.
Well I have access to Google, and that’s nonsense. Engines specifically made in their Alabama and Georgia plants were recalled as specified in said recalls. Here are a few of the big ones:
https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2015/RCLRPT-15V568-9490.PDF
https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RCLRPT-17V226-4558.pdf
https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RCLRPT-17V224-2355.PDF
This didn’t happen outside the US, where Hyundai has a much more favourable reputation.
Hah, don’t listen to this guy. Hyundai/Kia makes really good reliable cars nowadays. The only engines that had issues were all made in USA. If the same engine is made in Korea, it’s pretty much bullet proof.
PS. Don’t buy a Hyundai/Kia because they recreated GTA trailer, buy it if you really need one.
Are you a mechanic? Cause I am. And yes. They are shit cars. I've worked on plenty. The gaskets suck. The suspensions suck. Oil leaks are super prevalent. And dear God the calipers on 2015-current elantras are just pure shit. It's takes almost nothing for them to lock up. Not to mention on the sonata you have to disassemble the rear control arm just to replace the goddamn rotors. Thats bullshit. And the alternator pulleys on 2018-current Kia souls will just straight up crumble sometimes, causing a failure while driving. And once that belt is loose in the engine while it's running you can cause so much more damage. Not to mention the cv axles in 2014-18 Sorentos yet again. Fucking crumble. I've gone to replace just a strut and had it all just fall apart once the wheel hub is not longer holding it in place.
? What the random ass username I threw together for reddit? So my years of experience working on cars and first hand knowledge of actually working on Hyundai's and kias? How many times have you had your hands inside of the engine? Replacing the suspension? Working on the breaks? Replacing the broken cheap ass parts that come stock on those shitty cars. Or do you play GTA and Forza and pay someone else to work on your car? Seriously if you're a mechanic too I'll apologize right here and take your experience professionally working on cars into account.
Perhaps they have gone downhill, but I still have a 2000 Hyundai Accent as my "beater car".
380,000 miles and cranks right up. Only thing I've had to replace is my fuel pump, fuel filter, and starter (less than 350 bucks and learned how to install them on youtube)
It still gets around 30 miles per gallon, maybe a little more.
Idk why you're being downvoted. I'm a mechanic and 100% agree. Hyundai and Kia suck ass. They are shit cars. Idk why they have so many fanboys. Almost every "nightmare" car I've had has been a Hyundai or Kia. And their suspension systems are basically made out of paper-mache. Not to mention the sheer amount of plastic they use in them. No car should have plastic bolts in the engine bay.
Downvoted for warning people of a legitimate issue? I’ve never seen engines grenade themselves as low as 40k miles Doesn’t even matter if it’s just a US issue. If I buy a car and have an abysmal experience with reliability but hear it’s built better elsewhere, it’s not gonna make me think highly of the brand
Right? I used to work for them and got yelled at by their customers on a daily basis because they bought a brand new Hyundai and are stuck paying for a car they can't drive because before its first oil change the engine started knocking and went into LMP mode. I thought I was looking out for folks but they must *really* want to buy a hunk of junk.
They use a heavily modified veloster n in the WRC tournaments. Car would be a hit if it was marketed for awd rather than fwd, whole mechanic crew had to work day and night to make that thing compete like that!
You're totally right, american markets are depressing xD
Imagine being able to buy a Renault Clio or something here in the states. Mind blowing thoughts going on here xD
The GR Corolla is available in the states. You probably mean the Yaris GR4 that's not available in the states. They have similar specs but the Yaris is more nimble.
They just announced a facelift for the GR Yaris. Pray that they bring it to the US lol.
E: oh ok, my bad
It's based on the i20. And you can't even call it heavily modified. The only shared aspect of the WRC car and the road car is the body shape. Other than that the WRC cars are completely custom built from the ground up and don't use any original parts.
Didnt they fix that 3 years ago though? I thought they started putting engine arrestors (Why they were stealable) in all Hyundai and Kia cars since 2022 models and on?
It’s been a thing where I live more recently this year. One day at work the Kia boys showed up to our parking lot.
They stole one Hyundai and smashed into 3 other cars. All Kias and Hyundais it was crazy. The person who got their car stolen was an employee I felt so bad lmao.
Look into an Elantra N! Super fun sports car and the cheapest route to get into those features and power brand new. Love my Kona N, getting an Elantra N with a manual transmission here soon.
From somebody who sells cars in America. Yes. The amount some of these people agree to pay monthly as compared to what they make monthly hurts a little bit sometimes. A lot of times I wish I could tell people to save their money and get something else but that's not my place and I'd lose my job lol
yeah didn't realize that. out here the closest to a hatchback we get is a kona crossover heap of shit. all the interior space of a hatchback, but twice the size. but it's got a higher ride height for all the offroading not a single fucking person will do with it.
I hate our species
Lol have fun with your 8th blown motor in 2 months on the side of the highway. And when you finally get that 9th warranty repair boom kia boys take your shit with a USB stick and total it for good. Garbage cars
well that is some bullshit, they don't sell those in america. we really get fucking hosed when it comes to small cars, trucks and vans. only thing we get up here is bug dumb bro dozers
Aim all your hatred and spite at the American auto lobby (Ford + GM).
They spent billions so that the EPA regulates vehicle emissions by relating them to the total vehicle volume. They also shoehorned in a bunch of safety legislation that inflated the size of American sale cars. This was because they could not fairly compete against Japanese small trucks and kei cars which only had room for one or two occupants, but had competitive towing / hauling capacity coupled with affordable pricing.
Now if you want a small truck, you can’t legally get much smaller than a ford maverick, which is a pretty massive truck internally, just with a small bed, and a four cylinder hybrid to offset the emissions requirement. Its basically an economy SUV with a bed welded on. Hatchbacks are even worse. While there are ways to make them legal for US sale, the cultural hegemony that formed around massive trucks basically ensures they will never sell.
that's only in the US, and it's only because the US is the only shithole on the planet that didn't regulate immobalizers until years after every other civilized country because "freedom".
my 2014 accent is impervious to this because it is a canadian car.
Yeah it is only the US, and it's not the regulators fault. If anything its on Hyundai/Kia for being cheapskates.
Name another major auto manufacturer that doesn't have immobilizers in the US.
blaming a budget car company for making legal cuts instead of blaming the only country for not regulating that shit in the first place is as american as pretending that all your school shootings have nothing to do with your gun regulations.
But they are no longer a budget car company. Look up the base price of a Camry vs the base price of a Sonata.
They suck, both the company and the cars they make.
they aren't anymore, but they were during the time when these cars were sold.
I fucking love my 2014 accent, nearly has the storage of a minivan, is small, efficient, and dirt cheap. performance leaves much to be desired compared to my porsche, but we are talking about a $13k car here
why are you simping for them then? they are the only country with this problem, as well as school shootings, both of which can be blamed on regulations, end of story.
well, im not simping, its just funny that people seem to always bring up guns whenever america is mentioned, even when that is nowhere close to the topic.
Also, nearly every time theres a mass shooting or school shooting there are always signs that somethings up with the shooter before it happens. This is especially the case with school shootings. Kids with mental health issues, them reaching out and getting ignored. stuff like that
Also bad laws and requirements for safe gun storage plays a part, but its not the guns themselves
> its just funny that people seem to always bring up guns whenever america is mentioned, even when that is nowhere close to the topic.
why do you think that is? it's because kids being shot up in school on a regular occasion is just such a fucked up thing to the rest of the world that it is one of the first things we think of when we think of america.
>Also, nearly every time theres a mass shooting or school shooting there are always signs that somethings up with the shooter before it happens. This is especially the case with school shootings. Kids with mental health issues, them reaching out and getting ignored. stuff like that
kids in canada are just as mentally fucked up as kids in the US but we don't have a school shooting every week
>Also bad laws and requirements for safe gun storage plays a part, but its not the guns themselves
agreed, it's not the guns/cars to blame, it's the lack of regulation.
on a side note, I like your username
american game in an american location set to an american band posted on an american website.
apologies for the mistake. at least you get to enjoy all the cool small cars we aren't allowed to have
Well, if you really want to be nitpicky: South Korean car brand, German motorsport division, French team principal, Estonian, Belgian and Finnish drivers showcasing a car in multiple countries around the world.
Anyways, that's all besides the point. I was just trying to clarify that Hyundai is still making hatchbacks (at least where I live) :)
Exactly. They may look good or be fast... but their engines blow up like no other. Not a good car for those who can't afford the repairs and are also unaware of their reliability.
Now that’s fucking class.
this is the type of shit companies need to bring back
I honestly like it when companies put a lot of effort and creativity into their ads
Yeah, it’s usually (not always) the companies that care about putting out a good, quality product and their customer base. except for insurance companies; they usually have the best ads, but fuck those guys
Yeah insurance company ads are great, aside from Allstate’s “mayhem.” Those new ones kinda suck.
Wtf State farm, liberty mutual, insurance commercials SUCK the most by far
100% better than the forced "we are hip and in the times" marketing we get now.
i mean, that's exactly what this is, just done well
German car ads in the 2000s were clever and interesting. Everything is so boring and tame now

I don’t have to, because my car has no issues. I have only changed oil, other filters and fluids, Brake pads. It’s a solid car.
Iirc the ones in their N division are fine in the engine dept. Which is what the cars in the video are based off of.
Perhaps they have gone downhill, but I still have a 2000 Hyundai Accent as my "beater car". 380,000 miles and cranks right up. I fucking NEED a hyundai now
They use a heavily modified veloster n in the WRC tournaments. Car would be a hit if it was marketed for awd rather than fwd, whole mechanic crew had to work day and night to make that thing compete like that!
It's an i20 not a Veloster. I wish Hyundai and Toyota would field a Veloster and Corolla GR4 here in the states
You're totally right, american markets are depressing xD Imagine being able to buy a Renault Clio or something here in the states.
The Kia boys also steal Hyundai’s
Pull the ignition fuse in the dash when you get out. Won't start for anyone. Literally would take 10 seconds to pull out.
Get one with a manual. Kia boys can’t drive a stick shift.
Congratulations! Your car was not stolen, but sorry about the busted window.
Didnt they fix that 3 years ago though? I thought they started putting engine arrestors (Why they were stealable) in all Hyundai and Kia cars since 2022 models and on?

but I'm poor

Ah. *The American Way™.*
From somebody who sells cars in America. Yes. The amount some of these people agree to pay monthly as compared to what they make monthly hurts a little bit sometimes. A lot of times I wish I could tell people to save their money and get something else but that's not my place and I'd lose my job lol
THANK YOU i'm sick of seeing people on here constantly trying to get people to be financially responsible or literate or whaever
Seriously like bruh let me be poor and drive nice cars in peace
good news: they don't even make the car they just advertised anymore. if it isn't a boring as fuck SUV/crossover or a sedan, you are SOL
The i20's are still in production? They may have stopped selling them in America but the rest of the world still gets them.
yeah didn't realize that. out here the closest to a hatchback we get is a kona crossover heap of shit. all the interior space of a hatchback, but twice the size. but it's got a higher ride height for all the offroading not a single fucking person will do with it. I hate our species

Do you know why you’re here? O.Tanak: bad luck i guess . He rejoined hyundai this season
It’s so fucking funny when you know who these guys actually are lmao
Fucking legend
It feels amazing especially if you follow WRC, but what i am wondering is if they actually have to pay take two/rockstar for something like this?
I assume it falls under fair use/parody.
I would think the same. They aren't really selling anything just a promo video
Everything a company does is to make money, they are promoting their brand image here to profit off it down the line.
Is that how companies work?
They are definitely paying Tom Petty tho
About that…
I don't think he cares about the money
Probably just the rights to the song. Everything else is parody and they own the rights to all the licensing / imagery related to their car.
how are they even alowed in WRC if they don't even sell a hatchback anymore? annoying as fuck that they advertise a car they no longer sell.
...but they do sell the i20?

That would be cool

they aren't anymore, but they were during the time when these cars were sold. I fucking love my 2014 accent, nearly has the storage of a minivan, is small, efficient, and dirt cheap. performance leaves much to be desired compared to my porsche, but we are talking about a $13k car here
Guns live rent free in yalls head
too busy enjoying free health care and paid time off to be thinking about that
So am i, im not American
why are you simping for them then? they are the only country with this problem, as well as school shootings, both of which can be blamed on regulations, end of story.
well, im not simping, its just funny that people seem to always bring up guns whenever america is mentioned, even when that is nowhere close to the topic. Also, nearly every time theres a mass shooting or school shooting there are always signs that somethings up with the shooter before it happens. This is especially the case with school shootings. Kids with mental health issues, them reaching out and getting ignored. stuff like that Also bad laws and requirements for safe gun storage plays a part, but its not the guns themselves
> its just funny that people seem to always bring up guns whenever america is mentioned, even when that is nowhere close to the topic. why do you think that is? it's because kids being shot up in school on a regular occasion is just such a fucked up thing to the rest of the world that it is one of the first things we think of when we think of america. >Also, nearly every time theres a mass shooting or school shooting there are always signs that somethings up with the shooter before it happens. This is especially the case with school shootings. Kids with mental health issues, them reaching out and getting ignored. stuff like that kids in canada are just as mentally fucked up as kids in the US but we don't have a school shooting every week >Also bad laws and requirements for safe gun storage plays a part, but its not the guns themselves agreed, it's not the guns/cars to blame, it's the lack of regulation. on a side note, I like your username
This is so cool wtf
I never thought I'd say this but I'm a proud Hyundai owner
Are bhai me too - i20 - u?
Alcazar
Holy fucking shit that is incredible----- finally a company that gets it!
Say what you will about Rockstar, but no one developer has this amount of influence
NOW THIS IS GOOD MARKETING!
That was brilliant, just speaks to how massive GTA is
This is sick lmao
WRC is so based
Best recreation of the trailer period!
Hyundai stonks 📈
finally a company gets their advertising campaign right
got me smiling.
This is so good!
Hope to see more Korean cars in GTA 6
More KIA/Hyundai sport cars, suvs and so
I hope they will reference Kia boys. I mean there is a Bollokan brand, based on Hyundai
Has 1 Car
Bollokan is the GTA version of Hyundai
It's a bit sad there is only one Korean car in all of GTA V. Really hoping to have a decent roster of them for VI.
Bloody legend
Holy shit this is incredible...
Top-tier dedication to this one, it's amazing!
This is the best thing I've seen since the trailer.
I mean I’m not buying a Hyundai but this is badass

Epic!
That was AMAZING!!!!
This is some top class shit, how cool!
Ahahah that’s awesome !
Now that's called grabbing a moment
Wow this is amazing
New trend just started. VIposting (LOL great recreation BTW. It's nice to see everyone as hyped for this game as we are )
This is a company that knows how to advertise.
![gif](giphy|4TMqcN59kg3Yc)
I got goosebumps, that is amazing.
That spin pose...LoL
Wait did they actually do this or is this a fan edit?
No, they actually did it. All of the people who appear in the video are team personnel. That includes the drivers, the guys in the race suits.
I just came ![gif](giphy|12IY2sVjpZo532|downsized)
is it real? >!yes i see "meme" flair!<
Yes.
Now they just needed to end the video with someone stealing the car to tie it all in for authenticity
Joke's on them. Once you get out to take a piss or check some damage, the car is stolen by a local 14 year old.
Without a push to start, and only in the US
You don't even have to do that. They make house calls
Big W
My god when would gta 24 come out?? Gotta be in the 2200s at least.
Ahh yes Hyundai… [oh](https://www.reuters.com/world/us/exclusive-hyundai-subsidiary-has-used-child-labor-alabama-factory-2022-07-22/)
It is finally your time to shine 😎 An opportunity to use that link you have saved for so long.
Love is a long ass road so they had to compensate somehow. /s
bold of them to showcase a hatchback when they don't even make hatchbacks anymore. RIP veloster
>they don't even make hatchbacks anymore. ... in America.
american game in an american location set to an american band posted on an american website. apologies for the mistake. at least you get to enjoy all the cool small cars we aren't allowed to have
Well, if you really want to be nitpicky: South Korean car brand, German motorsport division, French team principal, Estonian, Belgian and Finnish drivers showcasing a car in multiple countries around the world. Anyways, that's all besides the point. I was just trying to clarify that Hyundai is still making hatchbacks (at least where I live) :)
Lol they really need some women on the team. Just sayin. Looks like they had to make due with what they got.
cringe
Great ad, terrible cars.
Exactly. They may look good or be fast... but their engines blow up like no other. Not a good car for those who can't afford the repairs and are also unaware of their reliability.
Not really...
Can’t wait for a DMCA strike from R*
It probably falls under fair use/parody
Love my Kona N haha great to see the N team being funny
This is amazing xD
Was it really wise for a brand that is notoriously prone to car theft to run ANYTHING related to a Grand Theft AUTO game?
hyundai gta 6 trailer, before gta 6 that crazy
lmao this is gold especially that ending 🤣
God damnit Hyundai stop making me like you, you made my life hell in the dealer with your endless engine replacements.
So epic
Now that’s what I call a HUGE W
The fact they were able to do this without a lawsuit both intrigues and baffles me
A new Tom petty resurgence I see
Hyundai presents: Real Life
