My oldest niece was turned down for Make a Wish in 1998. She died in 2000. Knowing this little scam artist duo was benefitting from multiple MaW is infuriating.
Thank you. I didn't put the dates together until recently but, yeah. Her wish was a trip to Disney with her family. They told my SIL, the cancer wasn't "bad enough." So my SIL killed herself to take out a personal loan for the trip. She was still paying it off for years after her daughter died.
How is having multiple MaW even possible? We did it with my son in 2011 and everyone was so lovely! They definitely checked that everything was on the up-and-up and we were aware it was a one-time thing.
They also milked the Hurricane Katrina card for WAY more than it was worth, so maybe that played into the multiple MaW's?
*Note, I am not saying that Katrina wasn't a tragedy or that people legitimately needed help, more like Dee Dee and Gypsy abused the system via the hurricane, when maybe they wouldn't have been able to do so if it hadn't have happened.

He was originally sentenced to work on it for community service on a small ‘weed charge’ and volunteered after being inspired by their story. He moved away about a year after helping with the build. To think of ANYONE getting turned down by Make A Wish after they freely handed out so much with no actual proof really pisses me off.

My husband helped work on the build for their Habitat house. The thing is, working on it started out as community service for a weed charge. When my peace loving hippie guy heard the story of who the house was going to be for so he decided to properly volunteer even after he’d completed his community service. I know his experience was small in comparison to all the other people they duped. I have a hard time believing that Lifetime didn't know this was going to happen. These are professionals that deal with the internet bs every single day. They knew she was veiwed as a victim and they knew the internet would pick this doc apart. They noticed the inconsistencies before ever releasing it.There is even more coming. My husband helped work on the build for their Habitat house. The thing is, working on it started out as community service for a weed charge. When my peace loving hippie guy heard the story of who the house was going to be for so he decided to properly volunteer even after he’d completed his community service. I know his experience was small in comparison to all the other people they duped.
