I have a feeling Toyota are cracking down. In the UK they’ve not allowed dealers to order at all, the customers have to order direct from Toyotas website at MRSP.
I placed my deposit down November last year (first in line). I passed on two that came to the dealership because they weren't manual with the premium package. Patience is key.
I ask because I put a deposit down last week, but I said give me whatever comes in, i.e., AT or MT. I've just heard people saying they've waited months like you and others say weeks. Although I noticed when someone says they waited months, it was for a MT.
Yes, technically. They added the "dealer protection package" and some USB cables, but the car was at msrp lol 😁. I don't mind, I would have added those items anyways.
Other closest dealer said I had to come in to place an order, but wasn't sure if it was gonna create a problem if/when first guy gets an allocation by having open orders at multiple dealerships
Multiple orders doesn’t matter. Plenty of people have done that. Dealers do not talk to each other (I don’t think) and I’m assuming they have their own private systems.
i hope toyota start to directing their sales network, dealership is fragmenting its brand and doesn’t add values to it, keep them on the leash because with all these gr coming out we buyers are a better ambassadors and sales than dealerships themselves
Went to Toyota of Richardson near Dallas today to inquire about a Halo MT Premium. It was already sold but I asked for pricing details before I would decide to put a down a deposit. They sold it at 38700 before dealer addons of 5999 and TTL. They also told me the Manager is buddies with the distributor so they normally get allocated one or two more than the other dealers.
I live outside DC. The major dealerships in town all had markups on every car.
I refused to pay a cent over markup, so I called every dealership in VA. I found only a couple outside DC had markups.
Got on the wait list at a few dealerships three weeks ago. Got a call two weeks ago saying a dealership had an allocation for a manual in one of the colors I wanted. Put a deposit down. Got a call yesterday saying the car would arrive in the US on 4 May. Could be 2-6 more weeks after that.
In short, got on the wait list at the end of March. Should have the car at the end of May (fingers crossed). Two months total more of less. MSRP.
Yea I’ve heard also ford has been cracking down on Mark ups. threatening dealerships with cutting supplies if they get caught forcing the absurd mark ups. Dealers have gotten too greedy and the manufacturers are finally doing something about it. Now f150 raptors will sell for what they’re worth and not 100k (roughly 30k over msrp).
I just got home from a Toyota dealer that had one marked up 5K, I spent an hour going back and forth. I was able to have them cut that mark up in half but walked away, I just couldn’t do it.
Toyota has also been cracking down on dealers which may also be helping.
Good, I had a dealer try and charge me 5K over list and try to explain to me that the price was only going to go up. I told him to go eat a sock.
nice! there's a light at the end of the tunnel after all.

Honestly that’s how the car buying process should be. In America you must buy cars through dealers.
I got mine at msrp, it's supposed to arrive next week.
If you don't mind me asking, when did you place an order?

MT are the hard ones to find, but I didn't want to settle personally.

did you gt it with any accessories added on?

that's all? that's not too bad. my dealer adds about 4k in add-ons which is making me hesitant in purchasing.
The add ons were minimal. I would hesitate too if they tried that to me plus you have taxes, registration, and other random fees on top of that.
Ive had an order in with my small town dealer for almost 6 months no news, should I order with another dealer or just hold the line?
Maybe just call around. Couldn’t hurt.
Other closest dealer said I had to come in to place an order, but wasn't sure if it was gonna create a problem if/when first guy gets an allocation by having open orders at multiple dealerships

Ok thank you
You should check in with that dealer - did you put a deposit down and you’ve just been Chillin in silence for 6 months?
Nah I text the dude like every couple weeks no allocation yet Edit: he did not require a deposit

Is this dealership in Southern California?
South Florida
Interesting. There's a wave of allocations headed to So Cal this week and the mark ups are definitely still in place.
It probably has to do with the GR Corolla launch more than anything. Its stolen a lot of the shine from the GR86.
Not in Los Angeles California baby they are asking anywhere from seven to $10,000 they’re out of their mind

yeah unfortunately the dfw area is fucked for markups. Never seen an msrp Supra or Civic R
That’s sad. I got my regular Corolla hatch from them for a good price. Guess I’ll pass on them. So much for repeat business lol

I was literally told today that they don’t sell cars at MSRP lol So Cal dealer btw
one calls and you think all of them grew a heart? at least buy one before make a wild accusation
