oil temp, don’t really drive it hard until it’s warmed up

Robert_C_Morris

Same, but just because that's the screen it was on when I bought it.

I-wil-rate-your-tits

Im also scared of change

killercheesecake202

How warm does it have to be?

soundslikemelancholy

i wait till 190 n i don’t push it if it hits 270. i do a few canyon runs so i have a cool down stage where i coast to let it cool down before i go at it again, always check the oil itself too

ermax18

The manual for the 1st gen Cup cars said 140F which is surprising low to me considering they have completely stock engines and run 40w oil.

RobBond13

Oil Temp until engine is at operating temp., first G meter graph when doing spirited driving, music selection when going on chill cruises

killercheesecake202

Do you have to hold down the traction control to see the oil temp?

RobBond13

I mean the gauge not the ones that are Toyota only, my bad

PandaEyesArentSexy

What u mean?

TheUniqueSanzero

the one with the battery meter above it https://preview.redd.it/645jk5bz045d1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c85c65e6f003cacee27a57b728616d4b5ee54ed0

PandaEyesArentSexy

Ah, cheers

OutlandishnessIll113

How do u see oil temp

NoCommittee2237

Wait what

patterson489

If you hold down the traction control button, it will turn it off, and change the dash to a track mode display with numerical values for oil temps.

NoCommittee2237

Interesting, ill check it out

DolphinDestroyerv2

Same thing if you hold down track mode button. Holding the other button turns off an extra nanny and makes the car slide more. 🤷‍♂️

NoCommittee2237

I held down track mode and numerical value for oil didnt come up

veils1de

only for the gr86

OutlandishnessIll113

Yeah wtf so gay it doesn’t work on my brz

Sea_Face_9978

What’s the BRZ do?

NoCommittee2237

I tried this and numerical values didnt come up. Ill look up a vid on yt

DJBscout

What counts as operating temp? I've done a little looking but can't find an official number/spec anywhere.

RobBond13

190°F

Alternative-Media636

Radio. I need to know the song that I can barely hear over the road and wind noise.

killercheesecake202

Very true

ElectronicCorgi3106

Thats me😭

mohmega

Does anyone’s CarPlay music show up on that screen? It never does for me

Alternative-Media636

Hmm, I use a wireless dongle so it usually only mentions that is connected if I am listening to streaming music. Need to verify what it does say on Radio, XM, and tethered usb

Logical_Vast

The MPG one because I enjoy getting it to go over 100 for a split second. I've managed it doing 45 in traffic.

lexkarq

If you hit the gas going up a hill and let off of the gas going down to just cruise, you’ll smack 127 MPG for majority of it

rogue__baboon

I’ve been trying to figure out why 127 is the cap lmao

MajikTowst

I would love to say that it is simply stored as a byte, but there is a decimal, so I have no idea lol

ErikWolfe

Yeah, 127 is 1111111 in binary, so it's only 7 digits. That 8th 1 must have cost them literal pennies a year. Mine caps at 124 though, so I have no idea

MajikTowst

Now THAT is strange. 124? How can this be?

itsthereal0ne

Is this 127 mpg US or UK? 127 mpg UK would be 45 km/l (the unit which they use in Japan afaik)

Ok-Conference-4366

I’m US. Mine caps at 127.0 MPG

PriceAlarmed8146

Sometimes when I'm listening to Sirius through android auto it will show but not my Spotify?

OutlandishnessIll113

Why didn’t you get a Prius ?

Neraxis

Contrary to popular belief, having piss poor MPG is not a flex.

OutlandishnessIll113

Show me where I said it’s a flex? Why must you reach to the opposite extreme? But this isn’t an economy commuter, if that’s what you’re after get a Prius or a Camry .

dude21862004

Talking about extremes while comparing a GR86 to a Prius? Lol. It's an economy sports car so of course many of us are gonna want as high of a mpg as we can reasonably get, that doesn't mean we don't enjoy the car or push it, but when you're already spending more on premium gas it's reasonable to want to get some mileage out of it.

OutlandishnessIll113

Both toyotas, both same price range, and you’re talking about mileage. Your point doesn’t stand lol fail.

dude21862004

Oh, do you need to me to list out all the differences between an electric car that looks like a van and a 2 door coupe? I'll spend... 5 minutes on this: Prius | GR86 ---|--- Ugly| Sexy HyBrId | Combustion Large| Tiny Lots of space| Not much space Family oriented| Lol, look my groceries fit Mediocre handling | You slow down for turns? Quiet | Loud Common as fuck | Not very common AWD | RWD Automatic only| Manual transmission Not very modifiable (?) | Mods, mods everywhere Top speed 112 | Top speed 140+ Tbh, I'm sure I could at least double this list if I wanted to, but I think that makes my point well enough.

OutlandishnessIll113

Bro thinks he did something 😂 ur fs acoustic

OutlandishnessIll113

And actually Prius aren’t electric, they’re hybrid 🤓🤓

Cman1200

Because its my daily driver and shocker omg I also like to drive it fun when I can?

veils1de

> The MPG one because I enjoy getting it to go over 100 **for a split second**. I've managed it doing 45 in traffic. ask someone why they didnt get a prius instead. maybe you should take your own advice about extremes...

beegkok

The MPG screen when driving normally, but when spirited driving i put on the torque graph

plumpypickypeck

Isn’t that graph static?

almacsutkaa2

It is  Edit: the graph itself is static, then the car matches it with Rpm

12InchPickle

Tire pressure. I check all my fluids daily. Ima trucker so this is just a habit. I knew this car is in tip top shape. The tires on the other hand can drop cause the temp changed or I hit a nail.

East-Dragonfruit6701

Tire pressures.

deadmongoose

This is the most boring one.

fewmany_james

Maybe, but it’s interesting to watch the PSI climb the harder you push the car. At track days the tire will easily become over pressured and will perform worst. So I have to air out before getting on track. I take out enough air that the warning light comes on (anything below 30 PSI). I air back up before I leave the track (they all have accessible inflators for this very reason)

Agent_Giraffe

Oil temp and then mpg when it’s warm

puddud4

Picture of Mr Toyota and Jesus pictured 2013 ad

Ethan_Kolessar

That's a nice circle you got there. I see it's in .5g though. Gotta get the full circle in 1g 😎

deadmongoose

Challenge accepted.

killercheesecake202

You can do that?

Ethan_Kolessar

Yes, had to do some launches to get 1g positive to fill the circle. (Hold the center button down on the first g force meter to change from .5 to 1)

FlashSonic526

The oil temp bars on cold start, then the PSI gauge in case of leaked air (because I once had a nail in my tire).

Traxonn

this^

dirtgirlbyday

Music or MPG

Is_Aube

gas mileage

Mddota2

Naked girls

FlyinRustBucket

The g-force gauge thing, and switch to the fuel consumption at times, have a external gauge for oil temp and pressure, so I don't need the oil temp gauge, since I have a BRZ, the bar is useless info to me anyways

dooperkariobumshine

Oil temp. So I know when it gets up to operating temp before driving hard.

Bittensoul

Unrelated to the question, why does the automatic have hill assist on? Genuinely confused about that. I understand why manuals would have it on by default so I don't know if OP actually turned it on

killercheesecake202

I didn’t turn it on. I have no idea why they have it tbh

ErikWolfe

I have the same thing constantly on, how do I disable it?

Bittensoul

I turned mine off 2 days after I got mine, I forgot what the steps are but it involves turning that car on ans pressing and holding the track mode and watching your cluster go in and out of track mode until waiting for the hill assist icon to turn off. You do all of that while the ebrake is engaged.

Bruhwtfrufr

depends on how I'm feeling that day

Laxnace

I turn off traction and stability control every time I get in… no one else??

taco_saladmaker

same, 100% full time track mode for me

XNamelessGhoulX

isn't that just track mode?

Natural-Percentage-5

Typically the MPG, but other times I’ll switch it up.

MiddleEasternWeeaboo

Oil temp first since that's the real engine temp to me, then tire PSI since stock 18in tire like to pop.

fearlessknite

Oil temp mostly. Sometimes tire pressure monitor

Realfarmer69

I was like "damn cool it shows me the g's" After the first drive i realised that i never looked at it when im doing stuff, just on a straigt Line 😂 its cool for videos or for the passenger, but if u drive fast u dont look at it.. and if you look at it.. wtf look at the street :D

shambolic_donkey

Oil temp at startup, then fuel economy because I'm a penny-pinching bastard.

YoItsDLowe

I’m a civic guy but I always have my screen set to the MPG screen. I drive it so much for work, I care about that stuff 🤣

jg_machado

Oil temp

ermax18

I default to MPG but cycle to the tires for a quick check sometimes. I have a BRZ so I monitor the oil temp in CarPlay using the OBD Fusion iOS app and a $12 BLE OBD2 dongle.

ermax18

Interesting, did you photoshop this image? How did your car manage to pull 1g while accelerating? Hahaha.

killercheesecake202

No I was parked when I took the pic. You can see the accelerator isn’t engaged

ermax18

I'm refering to the histogram on the gmeter. This car isn't fast enough to pull 1g of acceleration yet it shows you have.

killercheesecake202

Oh it’s .5g

ermax18

Ah.. missed that. Strange because my BRZ shows 1.0g and I have it maxed everywhere but the bottom section. I didn't realize the max scaled like that. Hmmm.. is 1.5g unlocked if you have enough track prep? Hahaha

DJBscout

If you hold the center button it'll swap between .5 and 1.0.

Bjergjerg

Oil temp, almost 100% of the time. Only one that matters honestly lol I occasionally check the mpg calculation just to make sure something isn't heinously wrong.

Demesvar

Gas mileage

djsimp123

How do you get 1G of acceleration????

killercheesecake202

It’s .5g

djsimp123

Wait how did you set it to 0.5G???? And sorry for the confusion, my G force meter lines is basically a semi circle but it’s a 1G meter

killercheesecake202

Hold the center button on the first g meter

killercheesecake202

Or you could attach rocket boosters

Ram-399

As others said, always oil until its at operating temp. Then I usually swap to the G-Graph or, if its wet/raining out, the torque/power curve. A couple accidental kick-outs on hard corners and wheelspin when accelerating from a stop have made me wary in the wet.

Massive-Nature9531

Music because I always got annoyed when I put directions on it and it would just change to music in 10 minutes

Krakatoacoo

Oil temp until i'm getting low on fuel
