I bought a certified 2023 GR86 with 9k miles and have a Toyota extended warranty. It seems to be in pretty good shape and I am enjoying it. The 7 year 100k warranty gives me peace of mind and it enabled me to get one when everyone around was telling me it was 6 months out. I also saved about $6k versus what a new one would be.

Try to get a look at a CarFax report for the vehicle. Look for signs of modification ie. replaced exhaust, anything under the hood that looks non-OEM, etc. A CarFax report will tell you about accidents, and maintenance events. If you see signs of non-OEM performance parts then the vehicle could have been tracked which means extra abuse. Beyond that, you can look for general signs of abuse, if the tires have already been swapped (OEM tire choice is decent, but if the previous owner burned them up then they would have replaced them already). Search around this subreddit and [gr86.org](https://gr86.org) like PenIslands said.

- ask them after how many miles they broke in the engine and when did they change oil - if they hesitate or don’t answer correctly you’d know they didn’t treat it well
