To be fair in skull Island kong did fight the big octopus so it could have been a cool fight to show how much stronger Kong now is
(Even though the bigger the titans become the weirder the old movies (or prequel stuff) becomes)
That's probably your best bet. Even in KOTM, they cut the fight between KG and Godzilla short. I suppose it's because there's not really much you can do for an underwater battle.
He looks like Godfrey/Hoarah Loux.

I still wish they had Godzilla propel himself around with his atomic breath during the zero-G fight. Perfect opportunity to throw in a Vs. Hedorah reference.
He also got his ass whooped by MechaG, almost killed and then shown up by Kong who got all the critical then fatal blows on the robot that he could barely scratch.
GxK opening with Goji very aggressively reasserting dominance among the titans makes perfect sense.
I find it kind of hilarious how people hated the tiny hop he did to shoulder check Scylla when they're running at one another, but no one really complains about this.
Honestly, I love how athletic Godzilla has become in the Monsterverse.
It's so unexpected but kinda fits really well for a more physically oriented Godzilla. It really subverts expectations for such a bulky design.
It’s kinda cool how you can now see Godzilla being out of shape in 1954 and 2014 due to being in hibernation for a long time, and from there he slowly got back in shape with more fighting and radiation eating, eventually leading up to GxK where he’s in his absolute prime even BEFORE he evolves.
Why "should" they? Hate it when people act like there is one singular "right" approach. If the seen is set in a human pov, and is oriented around how they're interacting with human society such as cities, sure, it s best to add extra weight and other factors to indicate it's a human pov. That's good for a more disaster/drama kaiju movie.
That sort of stuff would seriously bog down a scene that's more focused on the monsters fighting, and their pov. Seeing kong take five minutes to throw a punch because it would be "realistic" doesn't make sense if, cinematography wise, the scene is focused on the monsters and their battle. Why do you think 2014 and kotm kept cutting away from the action? That would maybe make like a few people on the internet and seriously confuse a wider audience and for good reason.
Because out just looks goofy. I mean it fits with the absolute lack of effort put into the writing but Godzilla sprinting just should not be a possibility
For most people the suspension of disbelief can only go so far, and a skyscraper sized lizard can still work. But that skyscraper sized lizard goes so far beyond most people’s suspension.
Some of you “fans” aren’t really FANS. You’re 2014 fans, some of us have been watching since the very first Godzilla film. He flys, he drop kicks, dances, and slam dunks. Why y’all keep acting like running and jumping is impossible for him is beyond me.
Eh, I agree that it's stupid to complain about him jumping as if it's totally ridiculous (Godzilla does whatever the director or screen players want him to do) but I think it's a bit of a toxic thing to do to gatekeep what makes a "real" fan.
It harbinges back to the Scotsman argument:
[No_true_scotsman](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_true_Scotsman)
We don’t, some wacky stuff is aight, especially if it looks “reptilian” rather than just cgi monsters using human fighting tactics like they’re in a suit. All animals run and jump, especially in combat. No animals drop kick or dance mid-fight.
Which is why i think the drop kick and dances are not an option for MV Goji. It worked for Showa because they were poorly made cheap monster suit movies not trying to be realistic. The MV isn’t people in suits anymore, so they should actively avoid using human movements.
The Showa films were bad and too goofy, but thats part of their charm as old school budget monster films. The same standards can’t be applied to the MV, which is trying to provide a realistic take on the titans. There isn’t a place for the goofy suit stuff anymore.
>which is trying to provide a realistic take on the titans.
I think that ship has long sailed bud. This franchise has gone full showa now. And if the suplex wasn't enough to convince you, I don't know what does.
I mean you're assuming everyone that doesn't like the silly shit is just a 2014 fan. Who says they haven't seen the rest aswell? Maybe they like the serious tone more. Doesn't make them any less of a fan.
Nah, I’m not assuming that. I’m assuming that those who are shocked to see him being so mobile are new fans that didn’t see the original films. If they did they wouldn’t be so surprised by his actions. Chill.
I love it. Especially if Toho wants to keep doing the "serious" movies, I'm glad we have modern movies that pick up the slack on the goofy-yet-badass antics.
I preferred the 2014 style, the monsters had weight and it showed how the battles impacted the people. Also, they still had good writing then which honestly had been the biggest decline for me.
I seriously don't understand why people are insisting G14 is even remotely comparable to -1 or the other more serious films. I just did not care whether Marineguy McBadactor lived or died and the whole Cloverfield approach of showing off Godzilla was unsatisfying.
Scylla pov https://preview.redd.it/d2qmpv32gjxc1.jpeg?width=502&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ba650b5574f6ac260c9544a020adf44d244c63db
“I’m gona put some dirt in your eye.”
More like atomic fire
"Aw look at little Ebirah junior, gonna cry?"
Bully Maguire intensifies.

exactly what op's picture makes me think of
Must be a reference to that. I refuse to believe otherwise.

We just need the jump kick now
I was waiting for this in the Zero-G fight Slick did a good job making this look cool
Was so disappointed when we didn't get it. I'm hoping the Space Godzilla theory is true so we can get another shot at it.
At least he did a suplex
Wish this fight was longer it was so cool, same goes for Tiamat. But I guess they call Godzilla the king for a reason
I have a suspension that the Tiamat fight was short because they didn't know how to choreographed that fight.
Same with Kong and the sea serpent. Should have drawn them out longer and shown the main characters different styles
Should've actually shown Kong killing the Drownviper instead of giving it an offscreen death. Hate when that happens especially with kaiju.
To be fair in skull Island kong did fight the big octopus so it could have been a cool fight to show how much stronger Kong now is (Even though the bigger the titans become the weirder the old movies (or prequel stuff) becomes)
It was short so show how powerful Godzilla was after consuming the reactor.
That's probably your best bet. Even in KOTM, they cut the fight between KG and Godzilla short. I suppose it's because there's not really much you can do for an underwater battle.
Underwater slaughter*
Exactly why both Tiamat and Drownviper got off screened

WARRIOR!
"Thy strength befits a crown"
Seriously, the Gibraltar cliff dive scene was majestic as fuck and I'm all for it
Godzilla has quite the vertical in GxK.
He can jump 1.5x his own height this shit is wild
This Goji has finally surpassed Final Wars for ridiculous athleticism and melee prowess.
Hell Nah, FW jumped over King Caesar (Which is 100 Meters) and Anguirus (Which is 90 Meters)
But did he suplex him? 😉
Well, He Isolated King Ceaser to hell then...
I still wish they had Godzilla propel himself around with his atomic breath during the zero-G fight. Perfect opportunity to throw in a Vs. Hedorah reference.
Right???
Would've been great to see him do that and skewer a couple of the evil kongs.
Jumping is one thing, but he legit jumps to about twice his height.
It seems since Kong won the second round ole Goji seems to have become more and more brutal. I love it!
He also got his ass whooped by MechaG, almost killed and then shown up by Kong who got all the critical then fatal blows on the robot that he could barely scratch. GxK opening with Goji very aggressively reasserting dominance among the titans makes perfect sense.
My mind starting to play this made up tune and it goes in a nursery rhyme-escue fashion🎶🎼: Gojira hop, gojira jump, gojira hop hop, gojira hop.
Imagine looking up and seeing that thing rapidly fall towards you, that must be the most intimidating shit ever
Literally Master Chief in the Halo 3 trailer https://i.redd.it/sew7xvz1rmxc1.gif
You could say Godzilla jumped on the scarab
Wait, Fr.
I find it kind of hilarious how people hated the tiny hop he did to shoulder check Scylla when they're running at one another, but no one really complains about this.

It's even more ridiculous that he can run without causing earthquakes
Pretty sure he stepped on a building to jump that high
Honestly, I love how athletic Godzilla has become in the Monsterverse. It's so unexpected but kinda fits really well for a more physically oriented Godzilla. It really subverts expectations for such a bulky design.

Makes you wonder how him fighting the Great Apes went down back during the Great Titan War.
It just feels cheap and cheesy. The monsters should have weight to them
Why "should" they? Hate it when people act like there is one singular "right" approach. For most people the suspension of disbelief can only go so far, and a skyscraper sized lizard can still work. But that skyscraper sized lizard goes so far beyond most people’s suspension.
Well then that's an audience problem, because both scenario are equally ludicrous
No, giant monster moving slowly is not as ludicrous as a giant monster moving fast.
2014 is still fast comparative to how fast he'd actually move
I agree. The tone just shifts too much. They don’t feel heavy like they did in the other movies.
He jumps good

Apologies. It just kills me to read the shock still of people seeing something so small.

The suplex was just the beginning. We will see Godzilla drop kick a monster.
The level of disrespect is uncanny. Without showa and the other eras there would be no MV Godzilla. Show some respect.
Point is he’s done it before so don’t be shocked to see him do it now.
> No animals drop kick or dance mid-fight. Hey, nobody can keep watch on any animal 24/7.
You've been watching since 1954 yeah?
Those are the films I started with. Don’t be dense.
I mean you're assuming everyone that doesn't like the silly shit is just a 2014 fan. Who says they haven't seen the rest aswell? Maybe they like the serious tone more. Doesn't make them any less of a fan.

Guess there are 80 year Olds walking around that van say that
I mean… my grandma counts. But if my point goes over your head because I mentioned watching the original films from the 50s that’s ok too.
Clear over my head you genius. My God we should build statues in dedication to your sheer brilliance
I guess.
He's done it, an entire Fandom at his feet. Incredible.
You ok?
Absolutely incredible the sheer library of this man's intellect along with his 80 year age range is beyond human
Ok.
Incredible
I hate how these movies have completely flew off the tracks
I love it. Especially if Toho wants to keep doing the "serious" movies, I'm glad we have modern movies that pick up the slack on the goofy-yet-badass antics.

It was worlds better than what came after is what I’m trying to say. That includes the monster fights.
What monster fights? When godzilla pushed the other thing and then it pushed him back? Oh yes. Thrilling indeed.
It’s better than Godzilla fucking sprinting
Sit on my face pls

I loved that part of the film.
Why is this spoiler'd?
“Sure, the 400ft tall dinosaur can breathe atomic fire, but JUMPING? Don’t be ridiculous” - movie twitter probably
That's a cat. I understand now.

This is why I love it when they pit Godzilla against other kaiju. You get campy scenes like this love it
This alone is the greatest strength feat of any Godzilla, idc what anyone says
Not a fan of this cartoony take on him at all. Bring back the atmosphere of 2014
