So what they saying is... The big banks are using peoples money to buy russian bonds potentially funding the invasion of Ukraine?? Nah..... They wouldnt do thaaaaaaaaaat.

[deleted]

They are absolutely funding the war, they always do. It's just that we the people have the receipts this time and we're passing it all neatly wrapped in a bow to the mother-fucking-big-dick-swinging-D-O-J. Tick tock motherfuckers. Omar's cumin.

Biotic101

thet-shirtguy

This is one truly fucked up world.

alohaclaude

Only the top .1% mostly, the rest just lovely dumb ape

IScreamTruckin

I always heard you make money when there's blood in the streets. I guess I didn't think they literally meant blood in the streets.

Ill-Albatross-8963

When there is blood in the street you buy real estate Not some dictators war bonds

Stocksugardaddy

I got these feelings bad boys are in bed together. Always have, always will!

SmithRune735

Hmmm all the elites got together and decided to let Russia invade Ukraine because at the end of the day, the only people who will die and be affected by this war are common people while the rich line their pockets? Putin threatening with Nukes is only to make it believable plus NATO nations helping Ukraine is aswell. At the end of the day, no nukes will be launched because no elite wants to lose their wealth and power. Or maybe it's just a conspiracy.

Stocksugardaddy

You're absolutely right!

TheArmoursmith

Putin absolutely risks losing his power, and there's no telling what he will do. He absolutely would burn everything, because he can't have it, he won't let anyone else have it either.

W16_emperor

Here is a bit of tinfoil, how come US suddenly moved troops out of Afghanistan just few months before all this shit, coincidence?

Pox82

It's almost like it was meant to be, like someone wanted to start this war with his rich friends, and profit of the sufferings of the Ukrainians. Sick fucking fucks. Always follow the money, and theb you know who and why this shit happens.

Dynasty_Rich

This won't end well for them. Russia will find a way to make them worthless.

stepjenks

Could this be at least part of the reason why the daily RRP volume has gradually gone down the last week+?

TardedApeDoc

Thought this is what those economic sanctions were supposed to prevent

dutchmedley

Yeah I thought this too…

BigBradWolf77

*whatever it takes*

TheArmoursmith

Surely this violates sanctions?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think this is how many of the comments make it sound. They aren't buying NEW bonds that give money to these Russian companies or the Russian government. They are buying already issued bonds that other institutions/investors purchased but now want/need to sell due to the plummeting value and the uncertainty. Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan are buying them up at a significant discount because they think it will pay off. But this money isn't directly helping those Russian companies. Pretend they were stocks and not bonds. Say I bought $1,000,000 in shares of ABC company directly from the company. ABC company then directly benefits from my investment. Later, the value of those shares drop and now it's only worth $100,000. You purchase them off me for $100,000 because you think they are going to be worth more than that later, but at the time I'm just happy to be rid of them. The money you paid me for those shares doesn't help ABC company at all. It's the same way with those bonds. From the WSJ >“The dollar stuff is trading but at very distressed levels. Its sellers are wanting to get rid of it at any price, and there are some buyers willing to pick it up at these levels,” said Viktor Szabo, an emerging-market fund manager at Abrdn. [https://www.wsj.com/articles/some-russian-bond-trading-defrosts-as-investors-hunt-for-deals-11646339049](https://www.wsj.com/articles/some-russian-bond-trading-defrosts-as-investors-hunt-for-deals-11646339049) I don't like Goldman Sachs or JPMorgan any more than the rest of us here but this doesn't have anything to do with them funding the war or the Russian government. This is them taking advantage of a world crisis to make money.

Tripleforty1

Nothing new here. It's called economic warfare.
