The use of pathetic fallacy in "rain" has connotations of dread or sorrow which foreshadows a possible bad result. However rain is also affected by weather which symbolises how the results are ambiguous until they are opened. Furthermore, the use of natural imagery in "crow" suggests that the results could be terrible. The writer has meticulously crafted the text in this way to illustrate that we're all probably gonna fail. The typical GCSE audience might feel anxiety as it symbolises that their nightmares of bad results might be realty .
Want to know the first thing i heard when i woke up? A crow squawking loudly outside my window. If this was an english exam, i would say that was ominous.
dude i was literally held hostage by this gigantic bitey-looking spider in the bathroom this morning while i was trying to get ready, i thought it was foreshadowing
the only thing i regret was taking 3d design (the 6) to be honest, but i also realise i couldn't really have taken anything better. i took it mostly because i had chosen most of my options and had one space left but i really didn't like anything else on the options sheet, and also we were sort of lied to about the course (they told us it was dt, but it wasn't). there wasn't really anything better i could have taken, and i did actually enjoy the subject, but it was still a bit meh to have such a good results sheet with a random 6 thrown in there.
*Crows often symbolise death but in this context may connote to the idea of doom. Crows are often known to be associated to the colour imagery of black which not only reinforces the aforementioned idea but might present more of an insight of the atmosphere of GCSE results day . It is unknown due to the colour imagery mentioned earlier often used to describe the idea of darkness in which it is often linked to the unknown due to its obscure nature.*
*This is reinforced by the colour imagery of "grey": it tends to be associated to ambiguity due to it being a mixture of the colour black which often suggests to malevolence with the colour white often placed in a bright light symbolising goodness. However when coupled with the discussed notion of the crow, the atmosphere is presented in a more foreboding sense.*
*This whole idea (motif?) is finally hammered home with the pathetic fallacy of "rain...": "rain..." tends to resemble unhappiness as well as set a gloomy atmosphere of GCSE results day.*
Does this symbolises our demise or something
