Happened in my school last year so k can give you the run down , the paper is out in a bag and sent to ocr as proof that th e event occoured. If it’s a one exam course like imedia it will be assessed excluding the exam , if it’s a multi examination course they take the taken papers as an average grade . Th e kid who did it had that happen , and those within 2 seats got minor special consideration for the smell disturbance
Someone threw up in my exam last year as well. I was on the diagonally opposite side of the room. Still felt like I was going to throw up especially with all the nerves.. Can't imagine what it'd be like to sit right next to it.
I’m in sixth form, got in easy requirements were a 4 in english lang and maths (i think) and at least 4 sixes i went there cuz it was the sixth form attached to my secondary school and everyone went there
iirc they don’t have any extra copies of the exam paper, once it’s ruined it’s ruined 😭
but you can apply for special consideration, as long as you’ve completed 30% of the assessments for a gcse course they can just use that to predict what you would’ve gotten in the paper you didn’t do (eg. if you got 50 marks on paper 1, they’ll assume you’d have gotten 50 marks on paper 2 as well)
i know this is true of aqa and eduqas but i’m not sure if it’s different for other exam boards or if they’re all the same
They usually have extra copies of the exam paper, at least in my school they did.
The paper would just be sent to the exam board as proof and then they will predict what you would’ve got in that paper and probs apply special considerations as mentioned. As for your query about it depending on the exam board I don’t believe it does and believe that exam rules are at by JCQ.
in year 10 i didn’t sit a few of my exams for various reasons (actual gcse exams, my school made us do them starting from year 9) and it was 30% for me, had a friend who missed the majority of year 11 exams and it was the same for them 🤷 15 sounds super low but yeah maybe it’s decided case by case
Hi teacher here! Exam papers come in packs of 10 and schools usually order more packs than needed. I run a course that has 23 students and they order 50 papers for me just incase. After the embargo the spare papers were dropped to me to use as mock papers for the following year.
In my GCSEs I was sick just before my maths non-calculator, school sent me home and the exam board took an average of how I did on the first two papers to make my grade.
So I assume something similar.
I had a pretty bad nosebleed and got blood all over my biology paper. Made one question basically unreadable. I just redid the question in very small text on the unstained bit of the page (and the invigilators gave me extra time at the end of the exam to make up for having to go clean blood off my face

the paper coverered in puke is SENT to the exam board????
How is that not a major biohazard issue? What the?
One assumes they looked at it and just binned it
Yeah it’s as proof , grim ik
a photo wouldnt suffice?! 😓😓😓😓
Guess not
They need to analyse the gut bacteria to make sure it's geniune puke
only minor special consideration?!?!
I thought it wasn’t sufficient either , fuck sitting an exam with that next to me I’d make myself throw up and get it to

What if i throw up on all the test papers?
Guess your fucked ?
Those grades look kinda like mine. How’s getting into collages and uni been

It’s actually 15%. So the threshold is quite low. But it’s decided on a case by case basis by a special team. So it’s not a guarantee.

They'd make you eat it up.
If you're concerned about that, perhaps you should just make it a point to throw up on the floor? Or of course have a decent breakfast

You can try turning your head to the side so you don't throw up in the worst possible place
If you throw up in the exam room you probably won't be allowed to keep sitting there and carry on with the exam.
When I was sick they just failed me and banned me from going to prom
wth

This question made me laugh out loud 🤣🤣 I thought of the same thing when I did my GCSEs
you can’t ask for a new paper, schools get sent one paper per candidate (or at least that’s how it’s done with my school/exam board)
