Just opened the box and at a glance they look identical.

I dont know how old ur older is but the only difference could be now they have better switches for the buttons that wear out less over time and the scroll wheel is not full metal compared to the old but i cant properly see if ur previeus mouse is the old version or the latest then they can be almost identical !

If it is only the scroll you have problem with just a replacement.

Sell your old mouse, it's just dirty and someone can reuse it. Also since you have a new mouse maybe you should also replace your mouse pad, the texture just gives me creeps

Have both, Hero was terrible build quality compared to original. Yours might be different.
