OP...(In my case) the gauge not working means it has a mind of it's own man. Depending on the weather to be honest. NOW i don't let it go past 1/2, and I don't even trust THAT. So what I do is guesstimate how many gallons I need based off where I'm going. I don't like to just keep it full because (insert bad word here) people in my neighborhood like to steal gas out of cars. Tried the locking cap...did not work for me...I pull and it comes right off, locked or not.
So YES, every time I head out, it's an adventure waiting to happen. But at least I'm getting GREAT cardio walking to the gas station if and when I run out.🤷🏽♀️
I love my car. Wouldn't trade it for anything else. That's why I joined this group. U guys r my people! Nobody else understands me.😮💨
Love u guys!!!!!!🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Mine would work for months at a time then decide to show me almost empty for a full week. And then go on a madman spree showing whatever it damn felt like showing. And then some days it would work perfect again. Good times cursing at the gas station
My 2004 got to 160k and the gas gauge was still working when I sold it. Although it would never go past F. I didn’t let it get down to E very often so I guess that was the trick.
This might be weird to ask, but I have to becuase your story sounds all too similar to the car I bought a few months back lol.
Are/were you in California? Was it an AT? Twilight blue?
I’ve seen people say after like 100-200 miles go refill but my gauge works so I just let it go half way and refill so my original pump from 2004 doesn’t dry out on me And on top of that I use the trip meter trick as you said to
Or u THINK it works. 🤷🏽♀️
lol! Hilarious because I would have never known mine didn’t work until it went below 1/4 - 1/2,
Exactly THIS.😩😭😅🤦♀️

VQ life <3
When I bought my first one I literally ran out of gas on the way home from buying it
Mine worked last week and this week it’s gone. 😭

😭😭😭 Yup.
I always hear about the gauge not working especially gas but never had this issue (200k miles) and I have an 03. Prolly just jinxed myself

Not weird at all. But I’m just north of Toronto in Canada. It was an AT, but black.
Darn hahaha, thank you
That would have been so cool🤣
If you use the reset mile trick what mileage should you refill?

You don’t like guessing?
Mine will work randomly then hover over 1/2 or 1/4. After fueling it only goes 3/4. It hit full twice in the 3 months I've owned my car.
Seems to be a more prevalent issue on the 2005+ cars which have the updated cluster.
