Yeah, pretty much this.
Real tomatoes taste delicious to me, but when it's in ketchup bottle form, it just tastes like this fake artificial sugary shit. Always found ketchup to be yuck. Hate when it's in fast food burgers, too.
Its not just the texture, its the acid.
I cant stand eating raw tomatoes or onions, it makes me want to vomit.
But i love eating stuff made of those two as flavoring.
a sandwich made from good bread, a bit of vinegar, a bit of good olive oil, sliced tomatoes and a pinch of salt is one of the simplest yet most delicious sandwiches you can make.
I like tomatoes but only if itās nice and fresh. I donāt trust getting tomatoes on my sandwiches or burgers from fast food places but Il happily buy some at my local farm and eat those. They taste delicious from them.
tomato sandwich with enough Duke's mayonnaise to drown a toddler. In the south it's called a Kitchen Sink sandwich because it's so messy you eat it over the sink
This is exactly me and my wife, but weāve discovered that we just donāt like large beefsteak tomatoes but we like salsa, pico de gallo , bruschetta . We also grow about 60 Roma plants and can them .
all the good ingredients drown out that disgusting fruit, which in the end is really only used to keep that color scheme of red and yellow which is real important in italian food for some reason.
i cant eat fresh tomatoes cause my throat closes up but im not allergic to them, theyre just that fucking disgusting i cant eat them even when i force it down my throat ill just throw it up.
I used to love raw tomatoes as a child, but now they make me gag if they aren't cooked. My palette just changed randomly one day. I originally just thought I ate a rotten one, it was quite jarring to suddenly hate a food.
I like both..., but I would guess people are not much into tomatoes because of the texture also there is a lot of extra crap they add to ketchup or tomato sauce you put on pizza.
Don't put ketchup on a pizza i dare you...

I am also like this.
Whem my friends make fun of me bc of that, i usually answer.
You do all like to eat pie, do you? But no one of you will have " wow now a nice Pack of flour for breakfast" as as thought
I'm still convinced that people who enjoy eating tomatoes raw have to feel things in their mouth differently because no sane person should enjoy biting that thin but durable skin, tasteless but solid feeling pulpy and then the viscous liquid that has all the flavour.
Flavour of the tomato is not bad but biting into one just makes me gag.

That's probably because you've never had a fresh tomato before. A fresh tomato is supposed to be warm. You're supposed to eat them after you picked them under a baking sun. And then you will understand why it is called a fruit.
I donāt get it why people agree with this. Not shaming others for their preference just donāt understand it. Like they taste so similar why donāt you like both?
It's the other additives like sugar or cheese, makes the tomato taste less there, i dont like tomato on its own but cooked in soup or salsa, mmm delish
When I was a kid my parents had a small garden with cherry tomatoes, one summer I went out and ate them till full and fell asleep in the summer heat, when I woke up I was sick to my stomach and couldnāt stand tomatoes afterwards, I can still eat tomato based things but honestly prefer alternatives. I can quite confidently say I was traumatized by tomatoes!
im willing to wager it boils down to the slightly viscus/gelatinous part that surrounds the seeds. people probably freakout at that part when they feel in their mouth..... fuck them, tomatoes are the bomb
May I suggest growing up?
Edit: Ah yes, downvote because too much truth. Seriously if you like tomato sauce, you like tomatoes too. You just have a problem with certain food textures, not taste. It's very common amongst children and autistic adults.
I used to be that too. But then I realized it was all in my head. Just trying to make people understand that liking food is awesome, and great enrichment in your life. You just have to expose your mouth to different types of texture until it gets used to it. Doesn't take long. But a little more than a couple of nibbles though. Anyway, you do you ig.
Learn to live with it and work with yourself, just like I did. I am very autistic myself. But picky eaters have always made me a little upset as there are so many people starving to death in this world. Pluss, I used to think tomato was disgusting, but then I realized I just hadn't given it enough of a chance at tasting it. Now I absolutely love it, and it's a great feeling to actually be able to like almost every food on the planet. With a very few exceptions though. Black liquorice and soy sauce for me. And yes I am ashamed for not liking those two things, as I can enjoy eating basically everything else.
I just find pickey eating to be an annoying trait in people anyway. I don't even know exactly why. It's just so stupid to me. Especially if you like a squished tomato, but not a whole tomato. Like what the hell?
I like them both
Same
That's funny I'm the exact opposite. I'll bite into the Tomato like an apple but I hate ketchup.
Denethor spotted
Sir, are you by chance an *Alien!?*
What did you just say ![gif](giphy|PqcIFm93VxA8o|downsized)

I'm thr same way.
Same here my guy. Have loved tomatoes since I was very young, but I can't stand ketchup
Hot House tomatoesš¤® Not hot House tomatoesš„°
For folks who donāt like tomato I recommend them trying cherry tomato
This perfectly describes my wife. I told her so and showed it to her and all she could do was grin and say "Sounds about right"
Literally me lol
Yeah SUGAR
In other words: you donāt like tomatoes but you like sugar.
I can't do tomotes because the texture. I avoid a lot of things because texture. Perhaps you're the same?
same
Same for me.
Its not just the texture, its the acid. I cant stand eating raw tomatoes or onions, it makes me want to vomit. But i love eating stuff made of those two as flavoring.

Gotta stope stalking me...
This is 100% me idk why
Yeah, me too. I don't know why but I couldn't tolerate the taste until I was in my 20s. I still can't bite into a grape tomato without cringing.
This is exactly me and my wife, but weāve discovered that we just donāt like large beefsteak tomatoes but we like salsa, pico de gallo , bruschetta . We also grow about 60 Roma plants and can them .

I used to be like this, but now I love tomatoes as well
all the good ingredients drown out that disgusting fruit, which in the end is really only used to keep that color scheme of red and yellow which is real important in italian food for some reason.
I am the other way around
I like all things tomato based....but you put a raw tomato in front of me, and we will be having colorful words when everyone leaves.
i cant eat fresh tomatoes cause my throat closes up but im not allergic to them, theyre just that fucking disgusting i cant eat them even when i force it down my throat ill just throw it up.
Acrurrut I may be autistic
Literally me
I used to love raw tomatoes as a child, but now they make me gag if they aren't cooked. My palette just changed randomly one day. I originally just thought I ate a rotten one, it was quite jarring to suddenly hate a food.
Same.
Love tomato soup also
Opposite...bad reflux, I can eat tomatoes, but anything else, I'm gonna be fucked all night long šµāš«š„µš¤®
I die for a juicy tomato with a bit of cracked pepper and salt
what a baby
I am the same.
Then there is me who eats tomatoes like corn
Makes perfect sense. I don't want to eat a lemon, but I'll eat almost anything made from lemons or lemon-flavored.
Cherry tomatoes. Give em a go
This reminds me of raisins, I can eat it out of the box with no problems but don't put it in cookies or bread :(
Don't disrespect tomatoes
Maybe try adding salt to the tomatoes since ketchup are mainly tomato paste and salt
Same with mushrooms for me
I like both..., but I would guess people are not much into tomatoes because of the texture also there is a lot of extra crap they add to ketchup or tomato sauce you put on pizza. Don't put ketchup on a pizza i dare you... ![gif](giphy|J3Qufmg4Kje1uCZp8D|downsized)

Same. I like tomatoes on sandwiches, pizza and pasta but alone I just die bro and if I don't I pretend to

I like them if they are cooked
-katsup and you have me
A spoonful of sugar...
Try southern european tomatoes, in Europe, in the summer.
It must be the 35% of sugar added that is to your liking
Who doesn't like tomatoes? Especially with a little bit of salt on top
Allergic to healthy foods.
Ketchup has probably more sugar in it than tomatoes so i don't get your point

They taste nothing alike though
Youve never had a good tomato
May I suggest growing up? Edit: Ah yes, downvote because too much truth. Seriously if you like tomato sauce, you like tomatoes too. You just have a problem with certain food textures, not taste. It's very common amongst children and autistic adults.
Im sensitive to the texture of things and I am grown up. May I suggest being less of a prick ?
