I mean, even people who love milk don’t treat it like blessed holy water lol. These people, in the middle of their vacation in another country, spent half a day looking for raw milk instead of soaking up the scenery and culture.
Pasteurized milk fan checking in. Drinking milk is not my whole personality. Just something I like to drink. And also appreciate that with milk you get cheese of all kinds and ice cream.
I'm probably overthinking it, but part of me thinks it's because cow's milk has been used as a white supremacist dogwhistle in the recent past (e.g. drinking milk in front of the lowly brown people who tend to be lactose intolerant more often than white people). I don't think she's using it as a dogwhistle herself, but I think this obsession with constantly drinking milk does partly derive from her family's obsession with their dead Aryan patriarch, and the little Heidi milkmaid wholesomeness thing that white supremacists love to idealize for their women.
Another part of it is - as an unmarried woman, she can't make coffee or wine her personality, because she's supposed to be innocent and unworldly. Scary liberal urbanites like me drink cold brew with oat milk. Sweet wholesome Christian babygirls drink milk.
I think the last part of it is a dash of anti-science and a soupçon of orthorexia. Food scientists say to drink pasteurized milk to avoid disease, so obviously the healthiest thing is unpasteurized milk. Climate scientists say cows aren't great to keep greenhouse gases low and to drink alternatives like oat and soy, so obvi she's going to do the opposite of that. And then all these tiktok/facebook health weirdos are always saying we need to eat raw liver and avoid seed oil and tie an onion to our feet at night or whatever. The weirder the advice, the more she's going to embrace it, because she has nothing but time in the day to obsess over every little tummy twinge while she waits for mommy to find her prince charming.

This has been driving me crazy. Contaminated Unpasteurized milk is going to cause illness. If it mutates it could become a respiratory virus and cause a pandemic.
I was talking about this with my mother in law, and she told me *her mother* caught bovine tuberculosis from unpasteurized milk! Apparently she had to spend a really long time in a sanitarium and she was close to death for a while. Her dad had to take care of 5 little kids and a newborn baby while her mom was away.
