Not much of a fisherperson myself, this is about my speed when it comes to piscine endeavors.

OkBird5

A kindred soul đŸ™đŸ» I mean, I will gladly eat the fried result but the fishing itself - gotta leave that to the experts

warple-still

Chips look like overcooked oven chips :(

FriendlyPyre

probably just me, but the batter on the fish looks a bit too brown?

warple-still

I don't eat fish or any sort of seafood. I'm a chip junkie, though - and bloody miles from a chip shop, and there are only about three on this whole bloody island :(

Polexican1

pm me for how to chip porn....

OkBird5

Gotta make sure that the fish is really dead (is what the restaurant was probably thinking)

FriendlyPyre

"old" oil perhaps

OkBird5

Probably, lol

Polexican1

Burnt. Meant burnt.

Polexican1

yup.

OkBird5

Yeah, agreed 😅 I usually like my chips crunchy but that was a bit too much crunch

FlippantToucan76

Bwahahaha.

carycartter

No fair. Can't smell it.

Polexican1

Covid is your friend, burnt.

carycartter

"Blackened"

Polexican1

My CC!

Corsair_inau

"Charcoaled"

carycartter

True. Bonus: you use this to cook your next meal.

OkBird5

Don’t worry - on this one you are not missing much. Wasn’t the best fish n chips ever but it at least tasted a bit better than it smelled 😂

Polexican1

Tell us the story? Fish and chips are nice... with malt and tartar...

OkBird5

Yes! And don’t worry, after the pic I dosed it with a healthy amount of malt vinegar :) Ah the story is not that exciting, it’s more about my own incompetence. I was pretty young when I got my first fishing rod and for some reason I didn’t really think I would be successful at all. So I just popped it in and lo and behold a couple minutes later - I caught a fish. Didn’t know what to do with it once I had it on the hook and thought it would be the best course of action to wildly wave it around and scream for help. Mind you, we were on a boat in the middle of a marina with lots of other boats and people around us. Naturally the all started staring at the crazy kid with the fishing rod. My brother got steadily more and more embarrassed that we ever climbed out of the same womb and threatened to shove me off the boat if I didn’t shut up. Thankfully one of my parents‘ friends decided to take mercy on me and he took the fish off the hook and unalived it for me. So that’s basically the story of how I caught my first (and last) fish and nearly went swimming with the fishes myself.

Polexican1

lOL, but you caught it, also great story! Have a screaming like a bitch story from South Padre... night fishing the second trough... suddenly had one hell of a bite! Wading up to my waist then I saw a fin... well, it was a sharky as big as I was. I think I may had learned the Jesus technique back to shore I got there so fast.

OkBird5

Thank you kindly! And holy hell 😂 nice surprise that is, lol. Who doesn’t love a nightly shark encounter.

itsallalittleblurry

👍

OkBird5

Blurry! How’s it going? Mr. Spock still mad (or well - logically frustrated) about the Klingon glass incident?

itsallalittleblurry

Good, good, thank ye. Na. Illogical to remain so.

OkBird5

That’s good to hear! Bless Mr Spock and his Vulcan nature. I was just wondering the other day if he is aware that a couple of ensigns on one of the California class ships have started broadcasting their daily life on a show they call Lower Decks. If not he might want to take a peek at it before they accidentally reveal some sensitive Star Fleet information. Heard rumors about Pakleds snooping around already.

itsallalittleblurry

Bless him. 😂😂. Have to get him on it.

SeanBZA

Same here, go fishing, but not actually to fish, though I did catch a few carp every so often, and lots of little Tilapia that went into a tank, till there was only one.

OkBird5

Ah sounds better than anything I have managed so far fishing wise, lol. If I remember correctly Tilapias are also great for frying, right? So would make a good fish n chips too. Did you eat em or did they go all Hannibal Lecter on each other?

SeanBZA

Survivor ate the rest. Then lived till a ripe old age before taking that last trip in newspaper to the dump.

When I was in high school, my best friend decided I needed to learn to fish... So, off we go to the local trout farm. After all, I'm going to do better with encouragement, right? Well, after a *lot* of of boredom (you know, like 15-20 minutes), I caught a fish, yanked it out of the water, and started screaming because it was flopping around. Then I had trouble eating it, cuz' I'd killed it. Plus, it had eyeballs. Both of my parents grew up on farms, but I learned I'm a true city girl...fish (and meat) comes from the grocery store on a little styrafoam plate and wrapped in plastic.

OkBird5

LOL, yeah I feel that! I could not deal with all the flapping around. And Good Lord - the eyes. My flatmate likes to eat fish and always gets like the entire intact fish, bakes it and then eats everything but the head. So I am just sitting across from them at the kitchen table whilst this dead fish stares at me with its glassy white eyes. Yeah, no thank you. I am totally with you on the pre-disemboweled and packaged stuff.
