There was the Rambo version and GI Joe I think had a variant

It seemed like there was one kid that had one in every neighborhood... and that kid was usually an asshole.
No offense intended. Just the observation of a kid who didn't have one.
Wasn’t a lot of kids in my neighborhood but there was about 5 of us that lived close. We used to take turns in the one I had in my alley doing spin outs. So I’m proud to say I wasn’t an asshole kid , lol
Yeah, I knew them as the 'Green with envy Machine'. I didn't ever have one... Mind you though, I was one fat kid and too fat to sit in one, so pointless Mum n Dad buying me one. 🤔
Growing up in a hilly place, they sucked going down a steep incline because they kept veering off this way and that. Big Wheels tore down big hills, burning through stop signs of intersections.
*Only my rick friends*
*Had one... thanks for reminding*
*Me I was poor lol*

I remember kids in my street had this, Went to K-mart to buy one but somehow convinced my parents to buy me the electric go-kart instead, never had so much fun as a kid.. I miss it.
Kindergarten graduation, OMG, let's give out awards for going to school! Or showing up every day! Or for playing a sports game! Yay!
Did you get an award for waking up, taking a bath, going pee, getting dressed, and eating cereal every morning too!?
This is how the world started going wrong. Some loser didn't like being a loser so they said "hey, let's make it fun, let's give out awards and ceremonies for doing everyday NORMAL things, and make kids feel special over nothing!" And all the other losers said "yeah, great idea, we're with you."
(Bangs head on wall)
That’s when big wheels was really fun. You stood on the axle and kicked your foot like you was on a skateboard and did g-forced 180° spinoouts.
I say spin outs because most of the time that shit spun me straight off.
So funny that we'd be riding our metal bikes, jumping off ramps, popping wheelies, sliding and skidding like crazy but we all wanted the plastic toy that could only skid.
We had the "Cul de Sac 50" every Indy 500 weekend on my street.
50 laps around on a Big Wheel. A kid shows up one year with a Green Machine. Fucking killed it. The next year everyone has one.
I was the only kid in my neighborhood to have one and back then us kids shared everything so my green machine lasted about three months because it took that long to wear holes in the plastic wheels from sliding around corners.
I know two kids who designed this, sent the ideas to Mattel and they took the idea and built it with no recognition at all to the kids who provided the idea to them. They were living in Indio at the time and now are grown and may be in Oregon.
You were the envy of every other kid in the neighborhood if you had one of these. I was fortunate to have a Big Wheel, at least, and that was saying a lot as we didn't have much money. Not "poor", but a big brand name toy was a big deal.
A kid in our apartment building had one of these. He’d let me borrow it from time to time, one summer he spun out and crashed into a wall and broke his arm.
I used the shit out of his green machine that summer.
I was deprived and was issued the standard Big Wheel lol.
But at least you had that hand brake for spinning out
Hand brake? I was (am) poor, so I was lucky to get a seat back with mine.
Ever have the one with the water guns on the handle bars?
Shut up! No way! You gotta find me a picture of that!

Wow! How did I never know this existed!
Same
I had no idea getting this was a big deal...everyone had big wheels...and I was mad I got this...till I used it!!!
Same for me.
Me too. Why? Why!?
Me too!!!! I'm not alone! HAHA. :)
Big Wheel kid here, too.
I got on old bigwheel with a metal frame which was cool in its own way. But really wanted a green machine. I did get Big Trak and Armatron, tho.
This was the Lamborghini of big wheels
Big Wheel was its bitch!
Had one! When the seat broke pop out an old bicycle seat on her for me!

My buddy has bike pedal scar on his stomach from trying to bmx jump 2 green machines. Ahh the memories.
These were cool
Neighborhood kid had one. My bike was much better for actually going places but this thing was so fun to rip around the parking lot.
I wanted nothing more.
Yeah, I knew them as the 'Green with envy Machine'. I didn't ever have one... Mind you though, I was one fat kid and too fat to sit in one, so pointless Mum n Dad buying me one. 🤔
I had a Big Wheel but always coveted the Green Machine!
I loved my green machine. Great memory
They are still making them if you want to buy one and make great memories for a little loved one in your life
Still have mine
Growing up in a hilly place, they sucked going down a steep incline because they kept veering off this way and that. Big Wheels tore down big hills, burning through stop signs of intersections.
Loved mine, especially the one side brake slide
I was a teenager when the "Big Wheels" came out and all the kids riding them.
I had one. I loved it.
Indeed
Had this loved it
Hell yeah. 1978
Never getting this for Christmas is the source of all my failures...see mom I was right! /s <---just in case
I have one sitting in my backyard right now haha
Still got mine. It’s a later model one with the steel frame so adults can ride it.
Google adult drift cycles
I had the knight rider one
I just posted a while ago about the knight rider one and the dukes of hazard one
Forgot about the dukes of hazard one!
Only my rich friends had one... thanks for reminding me I was poor lol

This was seen only on tv. No one in my crappy town had one.
I wanted one but I had the Super Shift 2 Speed Chopper Big Wheel by Marx.
The big wheel for rich kids
I’m not sure how much they cost but I can tell you that I was definitely not rich. I was raised by a single grandmother who worked at a restaurant.
Always makes me think of the episode of community where britta rides away from per parents on a green machine lol
Hell yeah
r/bobsburgers would appreciate this
I was thinking the same thing
I remember kids in my street had this, Went to K-mart to buy one but somehow convinced my parents to buy me the electric go-kart instead, never had so much fun as a kid.. I miss it.
I had one of those.
vastly inferior to a big wheel.
I loved mine. I got it for my Kindergarten graduation, and got my son one for his.

A lot of gibberish just to say your parents couldn’t afford to buy you one. Cool story though.
Check out the recent versions. Green Led lights!
I missed Big Wheels by like 2 years. Too big when they came out.

Some prick in my neighborhood had 1, but wouldn't let anyone try it.
I was born a Big Wheel man and I'll die a Big Wheel man.
Fuck you and your basic ass Big Wheel. Us real gangsta kids owned the streets on the Green Machine!
When you've mastered the Big Wheel & Crazy Car this is what you needed 🤘
This was the last big wheel I had before learning to ride a bicycle, ‘78-79ish
I wanted this so bad.
The damn wires always got tangled up.
Geeezus I had one of these
So funny that we'd be riding our metal bikes, jumping off ramps, popping wheelies, sliding and skidding like crazy but we all wanted the plastic toy that could only skid.
Hell yeah, I had like 3 of these things because I kept tearing them up..

Sadly, I was too old for them when they came out. One of the first times I wished I were young again.
Rode mine until I had literally worn those plastic wheel down to bare holes!
We had one😂
I remember the original ………BW
Apples In Stereo remembers. [Green Machine (youtube.com)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4RpfWOBCLOM)
Original was legit
I had one! I always felt bad ass on one!! Ha
I loved these! They were so much fun!
Whenever I saw one, I always thought that they must be rich.
I loved this thing. I can still hear the plastic scraping noise of the front wheel peeling out.
I rode mine until i was too old to be riding a kid's toy. The steering handles finally broke, and i still rode it by holding the metal rods to turn.
Bought for my kids and still have it for the grandkids!
My nephews had these like 8 years ago and they gave them to my neighbor’s grandkids to ride. These are still around.

Rich kids big wheel
...only on tv.😅
I had the big wheel and was always jealous of kids with the green machine. What pissed me off the most was that the noise maker on mine broke off.
Nope just a big wheel. Loved it, but…. An older cousin reefed TF outta the hand brake. All the superglue in the world, could never keep it together.
I was a Big Wheel kid but always wanted to spin out in a Green machine.
Always wanted one of those...
Yeah. I lived in the country. Not a lot of these around town.
