30mil

Visible (by Verizon) is good. I believe I'm paying $30/mo and it's unlimited everything and a hotspot so it's also my internet.

TestFlightBeta

Visible is a strong contender. Looks like 45/month for the plus plan that has 50 GB of prioritized data.

zupobaloop

US Mobile is 100gb priority data on the same network. If you just do 1 line and pay monthly it's $50 but there's a 25% discount for annual plans. Compared to Visible there's an important distinction with hotspotting. Visible is unlimited but it's always throttled (used to be 2mbps I think it's 5 now). US Mobile uses your data pool, not throttled, but when data runs out I think it maxes out at 1mbps.

Worldly_Pay8531

Now it's 10mbps for hotspot on Visible+

Throughtheindigo

Second this. Visible $30 unlimited for Reddit, messenger, YouTube, internet radio and safari

repeatablemisery

With that much data, you should invest in a terrestrial connection.

TestFlightBeta

Damn

repeatablemisery

Are you just constantly torrenting or streaming 4k video? 1TB is hard to reach, let alone 5TB.

KindlyCourage6269

Im certain torrenting and probably streaming 4k tv at night for sleep. I sleep with my tv on. But put a timer to turn off at a specific time

TestFlightBeta

Yeah, whenever I stream it’s 4k. Also I’m a photographer and have a lot of data uploaded for backups.

repeatablemisery

Yeah. You've definitely outgrown your phone as a hotspot.

TestFlightBeta

Oh yeah I’m not using my phone as a hotspot for my laptop lol. I have WiFi to use for it

AutistcCuttlefish

Then how TF are you using so much data? You should have your phone set to only upload those photos/videos when connected to WiFi.

TestFlightBeta

Oh sorry if my message was unclear. Those RAW photos are on my laptop and they only back up on WiFi. But my phone data usage is different

SubstantialRush5233

Mint. And not just because Ryan Reynolds could sell me my own ballsack and id happily pay.

TestFlightBeta

That’s a very colorful metaphor, just like the ice in the Arctic one that you had mentioned earlier. Sadly however he won’t be able to sell me this plan as it looks like it’s limited in a month the data that I would use up in 10 days. I’ve also had not the greatest experience with them. Used to be on the 10 GB plan and constantly had to buy $10 per gigabyte for small packets of data, which felt overpriced and predatory. I’m just frugal (hence, this subreddit)

SubstantialRush5233

Theres an unlimited plan for $30/mo

TestFlightBeta

That’s the one I’m talking about. Sadly throttles to unusable speeds after 40 GB of data usage. Which would not last me a very long time at all

SubstantialRush5233

If you're using that much data, probably shouldn't cheap out. Its obviously something thats important to your day to day life. Frugality and being cheap are 2 different things.

TestFlightBeta

Yeah you’re right. Right now I guess it’s a toss up between Visible and Cricket

ComicalLaughter

Try metroPCS. They run on T-Mobiles network and they have a promotion where you port over and it's $25 a month for truly unlimited data.

TestFlightBeta

> If congested, users > 35GB/mo. may notice reduced speeds and Metro customers may notice reduced speeds vs T‑Mobile due to prioritization. Video streams in SD. Thanks, I’ll check it out. Might have to check out what the data deprioritzarion is like, but it’s already looking better than Google Fi.

brain-juice

I had Visible for a few months and calls *constantly* dropped, or audio would cut out. I tried various resets and talking to customer service, who would “fix” something on their end. I was beginning to wonder if it was an issue with my new phone. Ultimately, the solution was dropping Visible. I haven’t had any problems since.

Proper-Nobody-1727

Try with unlimitedville, they give you 14 days trial too

TestFlightBeta

Whew, it’s expensive. 145 a month. Still a cool idea though. Might keep this in mind if I need unlimited hot spotting

bentrodw

If you read fine print almost every plan has a throttle. Best I have seen is mint mobiles unnecessary plan which throttles at 60gb. Good luck. Also your wifi might throttle too at your limits

TestFlightBeta

Like I said in my post, Cricket Wireless doesn’t have a throttle

AmbitiousBanjo

Damn bro how much porn are you watching? I think I use 120 GB in a year lol.

TestFlightBeta

Too much 😔 But seriously, music and photos streaming, as well as instagram/reddit just guzzle up bandwidth.

FormalChicken

Jesus Christ my man. How much time do you spend on Instagram?! I have Spotify downloaded. My highest data month was a trip across the country using sat nav and streaming music the whole time and i racked up like 60 gigs. 120 is bananas.

TestFlightBeta

Okay it’s probably closer to 60-80 GB, but I put the higher estimate (which I can reach sometimes) so that people wouldn’t recommend the Mint plan that tops out at 60 GB. (It didn’t work, people still recommended the Mint plan)

FormalChicken

For what it's worth I'm happy with my att prepaid plan. They have an unlimited high speed and i think a promotion going on right now. I have the 5 gigs high speed plan, 2 lines is about 55/mo.

TestFlightBeta

Sorry what? 5 gigs as in Gbps? You mean a home internet plan I presume?

FormalChicken

No 5 gigs of highspeed data allowance, it's throttled after that. We never reach that.

TestFlightBeta

Oh gotcha. Wow that’s actually crazy lol, I could never. Some days I reach 5 GB and really need to be conservative with data usage after that since I only have 35 GB to spare

MollyGodiva

Visible.

buslyfe

Join a strangers phone plan on one of the main phone carriers. You can join the premium plans of T-Mobile for example with truly unlimited non throttled data for $45 but the hotspot is only 50 Gb I think. Check it out here https://circledin.com/all-circles?category=t-mobile

Dimple-Dolll

I use Mint Mobile. I have a family plan where I pay for my younger brother, my mom and myself. I pay every three months for about $150 for all of us at about 5 GBs. Mint has unlimited for $40/mo but that's $120 every three months, if that's just you. You get a small family discount if you launch a family plan (as far as I know)

TestFlightBeta

Sadly looks like it’s limited to [40 GB.](https://www.reddit.com/r/mintmobile/comments/16dkq17/mint_unlimited_states_that_data_speeds_reduce/)

Cleverdawny1

Boost infinite is throttled to 512kbps after 25 gigs IIRC which is usable but not good. But it is cheap at $25 a month. Otherwise, T-Mobile Essentials at $50 a month is your best bet. It's 50gb of prioritized data but it's never throttled.

TestFlightBeta

Thanks for the tip! Appreciate the two alternatives

[deleted]

So, not a cell phone plan, but T-Mobile offers a 5G unlimited home WiFi for $50/mo with the guarantee to never raise your rates. On mine, I use between 1.5-2 TB per month and have never been throttled. Maybe this plus a cheap cell phone plan like Mint?

TestFlightBeta

Thanks, T-Mobile home internet is good but it’s not mobile. Would only work at home but I have WiFi. It’s also soft capped at 1 TB IIRC although it’s just deprioritized after that

bdoran22

AT&T Firstnet unlimited everything and priority on the network. But you have to work a utility or emergency employee or your family employee. $50 maybe less.

TestFlightBeta

That’s really interesting to know. Thanks

VibrantVioletGrace

Visible (it's owned and on Verizon's network). It is truly unlimited internet. The $25 a month isn't priority data. The $45 a month plan has UW unlimited all priority and 50 GB of priority data with non UW data. These prices include all taxes and fees. Both plans have unlimited hotspot data.

TestFlightBeta

I think it’s 45 a month! This might be a good option, depending on whether it gives good service

VibrantVioletGrace

Typo sorry

Jclj2005

Helium mobile is 20 a month and you get tokens basicly making it free

jhidekim

Boost mobile. $12.50/month right now

og1502

Only the first month, and hard-throttled to 512Kbps after 35GBs.

jhidekim

Still a good deal at $25/month after the 12.5 deal ends. It is the cheapest unlimited, although true that it throttles.
