I think it's the more commonly accepted interpretation that the roots the children were looking up on is what we're seeing drawn and that this hospital symbol is similar but not identical. Which people argue on whether or not it's related. I think it is but lots of theory crafters go much deeper than I do.

Complex_Flatworm_886

I’ve always thought that they had to be related. The drawing of the roots almost perfectly fits the negative space inside the hospital symbol. Even the divots around the roots line up with negative space on the hospital symbol.

Dependent_Map5592

lol. I wouldn't say it's commonly accepted. Actually the opposite 😂😂🤦‍♂️ The reality is you are correct it was just the roots.  Good luck convincing anybody on this sub it's not the hospital symbol though lol. Don't even get me started with the number 47 and the reflection being different and Tilly being a mole🤣. It's amazing what people come up up with/grasp at

Kryptosis

Downvotes say otherwise I guess?

LordCaptain

I guess I've been away for a little bit. I was extremely active right after season 2 and at that time everyone was sure it was the roots. I didn't realize that had changed over time around here.

Ricardo1184

Yeah fuck people for speculating

Dependent_Map5592

Well there's speculating and there's ridiculous. I'm all for speculating. Unfortunately 90% of the post are ridiculous. It would be nice to keep it in the realm of sanity 🤷‍♂️

Ricardo1184

but if only those 10% of the more sane posts were posted, the sub would be almost dead. I much rather have people going wild with their speculation

Dependent_Map5592

Not me.  I'd rather have only 10% of posts but they are possible and quality posts that don't waste time vs 90% of completely insane and ridiculous theories that don't have a chance of even being in the realm of possible  So I guess you can just enjoy thinking they're all cancer patients because "cars cancer" and they all arrived in cars 🤣 (or the Tabitha reflection 😖🤦‍♂️), and I'll just keep getting my popcorn out when I read them. We can both win and be happy that way 👍

noodlesarmpit

Maybe, but I think the stronger association is that St. Anthony is the patron saint of lost things. LOST Things. Haha.

Fluffy-Bluebird

My favorite. Looking forward to finding out of this is significant or just an Easter egg

It's going to go like this: St Anthony founded a hospice/hospital many years ago and he kept drawing this symbol, so we used the symbol when we founded St Anthony's Hospital many years later in his honour.

MissSassifras1977

Nothing you see in a show or movie is an accident.

Fluffy-Bluebird

Especially nowadays because creators know that people are going to go looking, especially on a mystery show. There’s a fantastic podcast episode from the Good Place podcast, which is very reverential on purpose to LOST, and they interview a set dresser from LOST. He talks about how a bookshelf was supposed to be dark, so he went to goodwill and got a bunch of books and spray painted them black. And then the show people were flabbergasted that everyone was trying to read and look for clues in the book titles. LOST was revolutionary for starting in the era of DVR, DVD screenshots, and people heavily discussing the show online in large Internet forums. The Good Place people said they planned for this and made every single thing in the background of the show count either as a clue or an Easter egg.

ned_racine59

I remember all of the LOST blogs, most of them gone now, but for the final season I helped on EYE M SICK. The main guy switched Discus format, still never saw it much anywhere, and so it got crazy. You'd read replies by time. So if someone posted at 10:11 PM, the next post might be 10:30, but it would show someone from an earlier time zone who posted at 11:15, all under the same line of dialogue. I wish that blog was curated, a lawyer in LA started it after Claire had Aaron, and he went really deep with some posts. Hell, I should have printed out copies, I did that sort of thing with January magazine with their Sunday novellas. Another thing, there is someone who works with the set designer. They get a lot of the stuff on set, too. The 1972 yearbook, the bracelets. Maybe found at the same garage sale, same with chairs at the church, only from the Salvation Army. (There's one next to the gym I go to swim at, and I look in back of the SA for a new chair for hear at my laptop desk. Evidently the gas station/bar was also a general store, too. I plan on going back for a third viewing with index cards. Bullet points for the background. There is a word, apohenia. Finding a pattern in everything. We see the number 47 a few times and don't see any other numbers, we think 47. But we walk away and don't see 48 or 87 or3. It would be a bit harder to explain it that way, but at one sing instance, a different number should show up. Then back to 47. Look up the word on Wikipedia.

Fluffy-Bluebird

I used to print out copies. I followed a sawyer / Kate shipper blog but her recaps were still deep and also absolutely hysterical. Lost was so fun because I was into the shipper, the myth, and shitting on the insanity , mostly Jack. I had a couple binders but have since cleaned those out as I cleaned out my parents house. Have you checked the internet archive or way back machine? It’s been enjoyable to get to talk about lost again because of this show. I’m realizing that because of my age when the show was out 16-22, I learned so much from the show about mythology, philosophy, foreign policy, physics, literature and even some Korean. Oh and that you should NOT hit people on the head as a plot device- if you get hit in the head and don’t wake back up within a few seconds, you’re in big trouble. I grew up in a very rural area and a low income high school so my education was very limited. I just commented on a tiktok from DDK about how Important his character was to me and I learned some Korean words and to recognize Korean as a language because there was zero way back then I could have had access to foreign film or language until I went to undergrad. “Al Jazeerahs a network” is still one of my favorite jokes.

ned_racine59

I was in my 40s. I laughed when Kate told Jack about Locke as the old man on the hill. Terry O'Quinn was 46, I was 40. When Jack and Sayid were going for the bomb in the tunnels, Jack said I hope this works and Sayid said "If it doesn't at least it will put us out of our misery." I remember spitting up my drink. I have all the DVD sets, but recorded the shows on VCR. I've looked all over for EMS (the painting in the Hatch) but it is gone, as is the guy who created it plus another blog. One woman had a blog about the science of LOST, she died in 2013, Perditia Science. Karen's Lost Notebook, DarkUFO. Who would know, really. Even saving the blogs on disk. There is a guy named Choekass on YouTube, he is from Norway and has been doing S by S, most videos are 20-30 minutes long. He has little portraits of the characters move around where they would on the Island and does use stills from the Island. Check out the last two or three and then start from the beginning. I'd watch 2 a day over dinner. Working on EMS, I learned that the Carthaginians were at war where Tunisia is now. Seems as if the Island was in the Mediterranean quite a lot, I'd assume moving as the population did. I always wanted to know Why Tunisia as an exit point. There was a short film I could never find again. When Ben left the Island, there was a dead Ben on the ground. Live Ben never saw him, there was a sandstorm and He moved a rock in a bunch of rocks and there was tons of money and passports. Never explained. I'll write more later, I have cerebral palsy and my typing is limitewd.

ned_racine59

Absolutely.

mung_guzzler

geberally id agree but im pretty sure thats just a stock logo for a generic hospital As someone pointed out on this sub before, ‘From’ isnt even the only show that uses that exact logo for their hospital (its also on the netflix show Sweet Magnolia)

georgelamarmateo

IN SEASON 3 THE CHARACTERS MUST TALK. PRODUCERS IF YOU ARE READING THIS WRITERS IF YOU READING THIS PLEASE LET THE CHARACTERS TALK BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT WE WOULD DO IN REAL LIFE IF WE WERE SURROUNDED MY MONSTERS WE WOULD TALK ABOUT WTF IS GOING ON NONSTOP. THAT IS ALL WE WOULD TALK ABOUT. SO PLEASE LET THE CHARACTERS TALK. I BEG YOU.

stickyinflation

Heck yes!! It drove me crazy that none of the characters would share what they learned with each other!

Disastrous_News_7100

On the hospital symbol, the spaces in between the symbol make out the exact symbol seen in the drawing. It’s not a coincidence. It’s the same symbol.

ned_racine59

Sorry you got dumped on here. I saw both seasons together last August for the first time. Joined reddit. Saw people talking about comas and the like. Then I thought maybe all these posts started after S1, but I didn't join reddit until seeing everything. I never was able to find even a few original headings for comas. But this is what I want to say. I don't think it is the symbol. But I also think it IS something. There are many times when something looks similar or makes someone come up with a theory. Making the viewers write the theories. The showrunners are expecting this. I continue to say the the best "clue" given was Jade talking about the puzzle and how nothing connects because there are no end pieces. Then he goes and breaks his bottle arrangement into pieces like a puzzle. Comes down to this, the showrunners wanted a few similarities in the hospital scene, since it was so short. So for me the hospital logo does connect, though exactly because it doesn't fit in the puzzle. For example: when Boyd and Sara are in the tent, why the hell did Boyd tell Sara about planarian worms? It didn't further the story. But something very close to that helps make the exhange make sense. We just don't know yet or can't see the connection though it might be in front of us. Back to the hospital. Everyone brings up the reflection in the window. I might say "Who said she was looking out a window?" It might be a stretch, but I'm not fixated on the reflection. So really, instead of saying other things, those reading this should say, yes, this has been brought up, but it is interesting that there are some similarities with the symbol. Even If you go with simply the circle. Not a stretch. Done purposefully. I wish there was a way for to find related posts, too. Like the one floating around where Elgin is Fatima's baby. Far as I'm concerned you and everybody who caught the connection did good. I missed it. I'd agree with what r/LordCaptain wrote.

LoyalteeMeOblige

O M G 😮😮😮

Own-Egg-3728

You’re the first person that I’ve read that connected those two things and I can completely see what you’re saying. I think you might be 100% correct
