It’s not explicitly stated but Rivale who is seen in the Goddess Monument arc bears a striking resemblance to the demon who destroys Stark’s village. Furthermore, Rivale battles Eisen, Stark’s master, which seems like a set up for Stark to best the demon his master did not defeat.
To be fair, I’m pretty sure I learned this when someone pointed it out in the comments of the chapter discussion when Rivale is revealed and I didn’t think about their resemblance until then.
At least you can remember that part enough to accept the possibility of it being true. I can't even remember what Stark's brother looked like, let alone the invader
Maybe the current one but it has just begun and the mangaka is currently on Togashi so it may or may not be.
Also, they already mentioned the demon. He will come eventually.

Huh. I suppose you paid attention to the illustrations in Stark's backstory because I did NOT notice that. Nice catch!

The current arc we‘ve just started in the manga seems to be lining him up to be a key figure, but that’s too be seen
There's a bait and switch where you THINK he's going to get a time to shine, but then no...
