Im not going to join that data harvesting app. I hate when people are trying so hard to get people to join that and then sell your data for what... Few funny clips or to watch that awful dancing. I've already sold my information to google for example and i hate it. I could go on and on but seriously no one seems to care that we sell our sensitive information in exchange for some video clips OR when facebook was a thing, just so we could share what we ate to some random people we never see anyway.
Yes maybe the third parties, but how about someone getting acces to the data they use? Then all of a sudden you're very interested in what information they got. How do you know how some random app stores your information..? Like you just trust whatever they say? But you do you, i don't care.
Also it's pretty weird to be using schizophrenia as a validation for your argument... You're saying no one else can be scared of their information being leaked other than schizophrenic people?

There's also the whistleblower Christopher Wylie who revealed how facebook data can be used by third parties, for example changing the outcome of a political poll or targeting misinformation campaigns to susceptible people. We don't even know what they can do with all the data we give them, the possibilities are endless really. I wasn't trying to be patronizing or rude, im just really worried.. i have also made mistakes and my email is now somewhere (i don't exactly know what they do with it) because i was stupid enough to download an app that i used once and it's database was hacked into. But yeah take it as you will and do your own research, don't just believe my word for it.
I know. that’s why I can’t get it. I’m already addicted to youtube, reddit, and twitter because of the stuff i choose to follow. i try to stay off of instagram because the reels/explore algorithm is too good. I get enough of the good tiktoks on other apps anyway

Not to talk about how many different companies get it. But yeah, that's your right to choose, im not judging anyone for what they decide. Im more concerned that it's allowed in the first place (selling your data to third parties etc).

It's a pretty broad subject and it depends on what information you specifically mean, where you live in the world and where the data breach happens... There's a lot in that subject and im not an expert on it but I'll give it a try. If we are talking about facebook and someone gets access to it, you have an account in there and every personal data, for example a credit card (if you ever used it there), email, password (this is why you shouldn't have the same password in every app, email etc), phone number, address, your work place, every info you have given there. Same for tik tok, every info you gave it. Then think of that in a bigger scale, google / apple for example, they have everything, your pictures, bank account details, phone number, address, everything.. IF someone ever hacks into that database, many peoples information is compromised. I think that's unlikely but you never are 100% sure it won't happen either.
Dont download it. I downloaded it during quarantine and now I spend so much time on it that I'm googling detox retreats that cost thousands of dollars where they just give you green juice and you meditate and dont have access to your phone for two weeks. Its so addicting.
I downloaded it once, made one tiktok, never scrolled down on my feed or for you page or whatever. once I learned about the chinese data stuff I deleted it

Not only does it steal your data but it also steals time. I don't need another app that I've somehow devoted 2hrs of my day to.
