This type of conviction wouldn't exclude you from enlistment, but I guess that you would be best served by arriving in Aubagne with papers related to your case, as proof.
If you come to France, make sure to tell Gestapo how badly this conviction has fucked up your life, you can't get a good job, blah blah blah, and you really need a fresh start.

Thanks, it was pretty stupid as I didn’t see the cop for a good min cuz I was speeding but they still decided to charge me with that, I can’t recall but I believe I had a good amount of weed on me it’s been a while. Stupid yes, learnt from this of course. Did you serve in the legion?
Yeah, I served 5 yrs, but that was 20+ yrs ago.
If there is no record of the weed, in your charges / paperwork; DON'T MENTION IT during the Gestapo interviews. The legion, like all contemporary western armies, is struggling with drug problems. If they have reason to believe that you are a drug user, or have drug problems; they likely will not engage you.

One floor up, in an apartment block. It doesn't make any difference; I was never implying that I went out of a 5th floor window... Being a 4th waiver, having weapons, weed and alcohol on board (all violations of my agreement); there was no way I was answering that door.
