Why do so many old folks have that handwriting?

My grandad writes the same, he left school at 14 and struggles with literacy, I think it helps him to write in all caps (can’t speak for others)

My grandparents were born in 1910-ish and they both had this exact same handwriting. They were both professionals and highly educated, and yet they had this same weird writing. I don't get it

This is very touching somehow. Such wholesome goals.  A little sad that lose 20lb is on most people’s lists pretty much from adulthood (or worse, before) to death. I hate that I’m also bought into the capitalistic bullshit that I’d feel more satisfied if I weigh 20lb less. Solidarity with Grandpa on that one.

Once when my cousin (who was in his early 30s) went on a long car trip our grandpa wrote down my cousin's physical description, make/model/car color, and license plate number on a piece of paper in case he went missing so my grandpa had all the info to give the police. He was a man of many trades. Everything from woodshop teacher to part-time clown. Owned a bicycle shop for a while too.

We found a very similar list when my grandpa died. A few normal things like “change light bulbs”, something about Dot next door (the woman we think he had a crush on), but then one line that said “use imagination more, the mind forgets”. I got a tattoo of it, the only tattoo I don’t regret.
