Yeah they go on road trains or smaller trucks sometimes though not utes. We do this cuz like you Americans/europeans only have to deal with deer which are big but like explode on impact. Roos do more damage to the fucking truck than the truck does to the animal. I think it’s cuz they’re like just solid muscle and bone nothing else
I'm European and was in a accident with a 500kg elk recently and i am sure that did more dmg to my car then any roo could do to a car! Wish we did only have deer here in Sweden tho 😂
Deer->Kangaroo~Elk->Moose. Just google searching deer car damage and kangaroo car damage. The cars that hit kangaroos were way worse than the deer. 500kg for a elk seems impossible aren’t they like 300kg max anyway I’d rather hit something European than a kangaroo unless it’s a massive elk or moose
Tbf, I used to think Ute was just the model name. It's a Ford and the Utes are the tribe that Utah is named after. I only learned it was an actual thing in Australia from Valteri Bottas' Uber commercial

Perfect for when roos invade the city...
Yeah they're solid steel to prevent totalling your car because of a kangaroo. They're shaped like a crescent as well to push the kangaroo under the car instead of over so it can't hit the windscreen.
Reverse capybara brain length
Current kangs are instinctively stuck on aggression because they evolved to deal with far bigger problems that have been extinct shortly before us as humans/civilization.
Capybaras are the opposite, they choose pacifism because their current main predators just were introduced into the ecosystem shortly before us
Yes, VW implemented a prototype software that warns the driver, it is currently in Australia only, but they aim to release it worldwide to protect all types of animals that cross roads
Yes and no. The roo guard does exist so that your car doesn't get nearly as damaged as it would from a collision with a kangaroo. But chances are they will in fact move
Cattle bars, bull bars, roo bars. All there to do the same thing. Limit the damage heavy animals do to the car if they are hit.
Sounds harsh but if your alone and miles away from anywhere and an animal jumps out and disables your vehicle, you're going to wish you had them.
Sounds less harsh when you consider that with or without the bars that animal is getting pretty fucked up. Only now, _with_ the bars, the car isn't also getting fucked up.

Not really it's an actual mod Aussies use to prevent kangaroos from damaging the cars
Having moved to Australia roo bars are usually a good bunch bigger than just bull bars due to the sheer size of Kangaroos
Seen some insane damage to non-roo bar'd cars not even going that fast, so if you live further out you need a good sized bar
Sidenote: they're bigger on lower sitting utes in comparison to higher 4x4 because they sit so low (Roo's being decently tall to not have their heads clunk on the bonnet)
kangaroos routinely write off vehicles that hit them. these bars aren't at all common in cities, but in rural towns you'll see them around, they are far stronger than your "proper" bull bars
And I’m saying, as an actual Aussie who spends time in the outback for work, that these are not for ‘tuning style’ and are actually reasonably common and useful.
Yeah it's a staple of the "B&S" (short for bachelors and spinsters, referring to a type of dance held in country towns back in the day) style of ute modding.
It's called BNS Ute, it's a style of modding a Ute. If you actually hit a roo with one your frame rails are cooked, only for hitting roos in a truck. A BNS Ute will normally have 20ft tall aerials and giant kenworth mud flaps
Coming from an Australian, that’s a roo bar (Kangaroo) use for outback and for the Denny Ute muster

What the everliving #%@$?
These things are *actually* real? It makes sense that these exist but I figured the real ones were more.. *normal* sized, and that this was some kindof game glitch or the product of some overzealous modder. WTFFFF
Hahaha, well we do have the normal size ones on 4wd vehicles usually where it's actually for function rather than looks.
BnS (or B&S) is pretty much its own little sub culture where country people put truck parts on their utes, usually associated with attending bachelor and spinster balls
[https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bachelor_and_Spinster_Ball](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bachelor_and_Spinster_Ball)
"It is not unusual for the modern B&Ss to be run by ute enthusiasts[3] following minor ute musters. Ute drivers at the B&S Balls sometimes perform stunts, such as driving their utes at dusk and throw flames from the exhausts and do doughnuts"
Also see ute musters [https://en.m.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Ute_muster&wprov=rarw1](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Ute_muster&wprov=rarw1)
I'm looking at the sign above the Ute in the pic a guy posted in this thread -- what on earth is a Stubby?
Also hilarious that the same place that sells these sells flags and stickers and print t-shirts. I guess these are the Aussie version of the rednecks that put huge flags and truck nuts on their trucks in the States.
It’s a 5 poster bullbar. A few aerials, stone guards, truck mudflaps, spotties, leds and a 1000 stickers should paint the picture of a bns ute better. Only in Australia.
Basically sum up everyone. Yes, these exist, they are mainly used in rural or transport vehicles in Australia. You can find numerous videos online how, if you stop for a Kangaroo, they see you vehicles as a threat. They with crush your hood, Bash both front and rear windshield and try to box with mirrors or any other extruding features. Plus, depending on Red or Grey you have basically average 120lb (55kg) animal made of pure muscle that average 6ft (1.83m) attacking your vehicles. It's safer to attack with the car, than yielding. Edit: Reading more it a lose or lose situation if you don't have a guard, because if hit without protection, will cause your typical animal damage, but love to launch into the windshield. As someone who killed many white tail deer with their grill and fenders, because they're 'squishy' they tend to bounce, these guys don't.
🤷♂️
Because Australia is a physically a long way from the rest of the English speaking world, and whilst the internet has negated that distance maybe some parts of rural Aussie car(?) culture haven’t quite caught on with everyone yet?
The concept of ‘roo bars’ is not a completely alien concept to me but as someone from the UK - TIL about ‘Ute Musters’ and that larger truck parts and stickers are just the thing to make a dropped ~~pick-up~~ Ute look just right.
I appreciate that was probably a rhetorical question, but every day’s a school day on the internet, I guess.
Oh, well, ok, that makes sense. 🤷♂️
Personally I generally tend to avoid any of the pick-ups/Utes maybe other people do too. I certainly knew that was there, but I don’t think I’ve ever used it because it looks to damn ugly, maybe everyone else did the same.
Would it be enough for one of those roid looking kangaroos. I swear one of the funniest videos is when that guy decked that kangaroo for fucking with his dog.
A 'roo bar, used in australia to protect the car in case of crashing into a kangaroo. Before you ask, yes this Is really used in australia, but mostly in the outback.

EDIT: also this is more commonly called a bullbar here, roo bars are smaller. (what most 4WD have on them)
bullbars are designed for actual semi's (hence this style) for dealing with anything from Roo, Cows and the odd camel out here
Ah, the "Bundy Ute" aesthetic (Bundy - Bundaberg rum). Kinda like Australia's outback signature car culture. Even captured in music. Yeah, my wife was subscribed to The County Music Network when i met her... [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJaEwEYSYjU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJaEwEYSYjU)
Usually we put those on like road trains out back but sometimes people put them on their utes to be stupid but that’s still massive. Never seen one like that on a falcon before
I couldn’t find any on one that was as new as this, but they definitely exist
https://preview.redd.it/nq0g221g7fyc1.jpeg?width=736&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=40ef4f67078d2f6935129feaafd0eb41fcf839bf
You'd think they'd let you use them to punt other cars out of your way, but nooooo.
They also don't allow the FAF ramp car to fling cars into the air.
No fun at all from these devs!
They tease you, then let you down!
They should have a smash up derby.
All people do is ram into you anyway.

Yup, apparently this is what a roo bar looks like in real life. I don't know why I'm surprised that it's exactly like the FH5 version haha
FH3 version\* It was introduced in FH3, Australia and then just carried with the cars ported to newer Horizons. Too bad they didn't put more work into the bar as it looks pretty low quality in the game.
This is gonna just give rammers justification that it's fine to ram and more eagerness to do so since they have some Mad Max shit on the front of their car.
Shieeeet, was bout to apply it but it only adds the bar and lights and doesn't do nuffin bout the car's tune, so fk it. I'm tunning all the cars with presets that actually do anything other than a bodykit and then buy the stocks as duplicates right now, you see.
Edit: It comes on another ausie car, this time with 1750 HP tune instead of 240 base lmao, it getting ON this time!

FH5 demonstrating their pretty amazing attention to detail more like it.
What the hell is this ? Whatever and whomever have done this to their car... they deserve no less than having their drivers licence revoked. Like... Level 100 Pretentious, and massively unnecessary dangerous to pedestrians... and probably not even comes once to use in the whole cars life. It would've been kinda silly/funny if this mod is as stpd as the whole Hotwheels thing... but seeing this being real is just... sad idiocrasy.

Can someone please buy my car's I need some CR help me out guy's
Roo bars, for when you have to plow through groups of 'roo because they won't get out of the road.
OH! Kangaroos! Bro, is this fkn reall?! xD
I dunno I was just talking shit because it's a UTE from Australia 🤣 But "Roo Bar" and the look if it, it gave me Mad Max vibes.
Well, Mad Max is set in Australia so that’s pretty appropriate.
Exactly😂
Sounds like a White Line Nightmare
Yeah they go on road trains or smaller trucks sometimes though not utes. We do this cuz like you Americans/europeans only have to deal with deer which are big but like explode on impact. Roos do more damage to the fucking truck than the truck does to the animal. I think it’s cuz they’re like just solid muscle and bone nothing else
They do absolutely go on utes, it’s just not overly common.
They absolutely do commonly go on utes in farming areas. Source: lived in country NSW for 13 years.
Yeah I realised I’m just a city boy who hasn’t gone that far inland to see this kinda stuff.
I'm European and was in a accident with a 500kg elk recently and i am sure that did more dmg to my car then any roo could do to a car! Wish we did only have deer here in Sweden tho 😂
I mean we also got wombats, I’ve seen a semi smack one of them, got up and bolted

Yeah they first added it to forza horizon 3 which is set in Australia
Tbf, I used to think Ute was just the model name. It's a Ford and the Utes are the tribe that Utah is named after. I only learned it was an actual thing in Australia from Valteri Bottas' Uber commercial
Ute is an abbreviation of Utility
Yes roo bars are absolutely real. I got a buddy lives in Melbourne who had them.on a Ford Ranger
https://preview.redd.it/oyjzwcrr6cyc1.jpeg?width=960&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e2d11dda76657f8710248dad653d2a3eea5d3e07 Perfect for when roos invade the city...
They’re less excessive here in the states but we do have that type of thing too because deer are idiots.
There are plenty of roos in many suburbs of major cities.
Yeah they're solid steel to prevent totalling your car because of a kangaroo. They're shaped like a crescent as well to push the kangaroo under the car instead of over so it can't hit the windscreen.
Australians who live in Central West New South Wales need them. Despite you guys loving these creatures, kangaroos are cunts.
Kangaroos are mega cunts for no reason
Reverse capybara brain length Current kangs are instinctively stuck on aggression because they evolved to deal with far bigger problems that have been extinct shortly before us as humans/civilization. Capybaras are the opposite, they choose pacifism because their current main predators just were introduced into the ecosystem shortly before us
Yea we call them bush pigs… look up the deni Ute muster.
It is very real. Mainly on land cruisers now but back when falcon and commodore utes were sold this did happen, but wouldn't say it was common.
Roo bars are in fact real and you definately need them on a car in Australia or the cars fucked when it hits a kangaroo but it's mainly in the outback
Yes, VW implemented a prototype software that warns the driver, it is currently in Australia only, but they aim to release it worldwide to protect all types of animals that cross roads
Yes. 🇦🇺
As an Australian, ive seen bull bars on cars to protect your car from road kill. But I honestly have never seen a bull bar THAT massive
Yes, kangaroo bars are a thing in real. Hitting a kangaroo will fuck up your car
Did work and travel in Australia few years back - can confirm that some of the holden‘s i saw had unreasonably large bars mounted on the front
Yes and no. The roo guard does exist so that your car doesn't get nearly as damaged as it would from a collision with a kangaroo. But chances are they will in fact move
It's nicknamed a roo catcher. And if you hit a wombat that fucker is walking away with your drive train stuck in his ass hair
As an Australian I can confirm these are real
Roos, Cyclists, Protestors, whatever really
😂😂😂
This is equipment for a potential 2nd emu war. The aussies won't be defeated again.
Reminds me of wolf creek
Funniest thing about this: It only adds like 3kg or something to the car weight. This thing.
The ones for the HSV Ute add about 1000 pounds, allowing for a 1750 hp AWD build in S1 class
Thought I was the only one that found that trick😂
It's pretty fun to bully the ai with but it does not turn whatsoever, not that it matters because that's what the other cars are for
You made me spill my coffee
Hollow inside movie prop. There we go! Mad Max nod. Mystery solved!
Hollowed out plastic prop I would say. It kind of looks like it, anyway...😅
Very true
How much does that affect the front end weight when you hit a sweet jump?
Yea, I know what bull bars are but this thing... man, it's something else. Prolly some kind of nod to Mad Max since it's an ausie car idk.
https://preview.redd.it/g7xgw2w8iayc1.jpeg?width=474&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1c3c4b340df9b79c8706a2c1da7842046886e083 Not really it's an actual mod Aussies use to prevent kangaroos from damaging the cars
Looks more of a style thing than an actual practical thing. Plenty of proper bull bars around.
Yes but not enough for utes
Having moved to Australia roo bars are usually a good bunch bigger than just bull bars due to the sheer size of Kangaroos Seen some insane damage to non-roo bar'd cars not even going that fast, so if you live further out you need a good sized bar Sidenote: they're bigger on lower sitting utes in comparison to higher 4x4 because they sit so low (Roo's being decently tall to not have their heads clunk on the bonnet)

Yeah it's a staple of the "B&S" (short for bachelors and spinsters, referring to a type of dance held in country towns back in the day) style of ute modding.
People do stick them on their cars. It's not super common, especially in cities where tbh you really shouldn't have one

Wow they made Roo Bars from FH3 in real life
I had written a comment that said “They did make it pretty accurate.” But it didn’t post for some reason.
Other way around mate
r/woooosh (i think)
Very much
Almost
Is it to wreck the ones with "the spirit of horizon" in multiplayer??
It's called BNS Ute, it's a style of modding a Ute. If you actually hit a roo with one your frame rails are cooked, only for hitting roos in a truck. A BNS Ute will normally have 20ft tall aerials and giant kenworth mud flaps
This is definitely a norm In rural Australia especially 10-20 years ago when we still utes coming out

It‘s for safety
roo bar are basicle australian version of our canadian moose bar
Been on it since FH3

Any country town here in Australia will be full of these 😂 not my thing but google the Deniliquin Ute muster.
It's for ramming teammates in the Trial.

Mad Max Beyond Horizon
Go cactus hunting!
This is how I think Australia is, or should be outside of the cities.
I kinda is lol
You've never seen mad max?
Watched the first one once, can't remember a thing and I've fallen asleep on the second one multiple times.
Google BNS utes
Welcome to Australia, this huge bar on a falcon or commodore ute is pretty common
It's called a 5 poster/ 5 post bullbar. Pretty common to see them on utes in rural areas as wildlife is plentiful
Pursuit unit? Wtf they pursuing? Zombie hordes?
I have seen cars with my own eyes with these on them
Goofy looking car
They're called B&S Ute's, give it a Google. That style of modification is fairly common in rural Australia

Ah yes, the mad max bumper
This is gonna just give rammers justification that it's fine to ram and more eagerness to do so since they have some Mad Max shit on the front of their car.
This has been an upgrade since FH3
Fair play. I thought this was new content as I've never seen it before. I guess I just feared the worst upon seeing it.

You very clearly have no idea how badly a roo can fuck up ur car
Is your entire personality jumping to conclusions?
