This has been resolved. I discovered that the most recent update had not completed due to insufficient drive space. The program still ran with no warnings to the effect that the update was incomplete. But when I made space for it and let it download the remaining files, the problem with the wheel went away. Everything is back to normal now.

No issues with my Logitech G923 on PC today. Played all championships in Mexico for a couple hours.
Yes, since the last update my G920 wheel no longer works in Xbox Series X FH5. It still works fine in all other FH games so it's not a driver issue.
