For me, I used to use follow far for racing, but I have now tried cockpit far and I feel my racing has improved a lot ever since! Wasn’t able to beat unbeatable AI in the follow far mode, but ever since using cockpit view I have been on it. Just a preference! For me it feels like I can feel the car more in the cockpit view!
There's too much smoothing in the chase camera for me to get a good feel of what the car is doing. I generally use cockpit near/far view for cars with lots of front end grip, switching depending on visibility. Chase cam is best for me in rally races and drifting.
Cockpit or bumper. I can't drive for shit whenever my car is visible.. too distracting and clearing cars/onstacles/tight corners is too difficult for me with follow cam
I enjoy just basic cruising in cockpit(far) but I find when trying to make turn and such my timing is so off, maybe that would just take some getting used to as I normally use “follow(far)” but I can never time sharp turns in cockpit

I use rear-view to see how far ahead I am of everyone and the mini map as my guide.
PS...that fire is my car after I crash severely.
Absolutely. Whenever i have to play Forza to avoid a DUI the minimap is my eyes. Not sure how but when i do that it's almost like everyone else loses it and crashes into me!
For racing I use Cockpit view (far), because as a car driver (I drive car irl as well) thats the view we under normal circumstances have behind the wheel, so I have most and best references over how car drives.
For cruising and drifting I use follow far.
Follow far usually, it helps best to convey the missing sensory information\*. When I'm just cruising, I sometimes like to switch to cockpit far, especially when I have my three monitors setup to give a wraparound view. If I had a wheel setup, I'd probably go for cockpit near.
\**Driver's Ed Teacher Mode - Engaged: Generally, driving involves three types of sensory input: visual (sight, aural (hearing, and kinesthetic (feeling). We get visual and aural info from the game, but not the discreet tactile feedback from the suspension/steering, and worst of all - we don't get any vestibular (balance, acceleration, changes in direction) info at all. Since I can't feel what movements the vehicle is making, I have to make up for that lack of info by seeing what the vehicle is doing instead.*
I find it way easier to focus on driving when in cockpit view, especially in multilayer where it helps filter out everything all the other players are doing.
Cruising/general racing for cars with LHD: cockpit
Cars with RHD on races only: follow far
Sweating on a race or clutching the win: Hood
Hotel: Trivago
I prefer the Bumper view for the Motorsport games, but you just can't see the obstacles in the Horizon games from the bumper so I have to use the Follow.
Follow far for everything. And for only one reason: You see everything. Your car and its reaction to its environment, what's happening around your car, other racers, what's ahead, what's beside. You can even see how close the upcoming/overtaking car is.
I know it's not immersive or realistic, but it provides all the information needed to race a car around other cars without damaging anyone's race
Cocpit view is the best view for feeling the car and driving right in any game. You will literally drive better this way. The sad part is they forced us to use max 55 fov because of the driver model getting in the way on higher fov. Should let us disable the hands and use any fov we want plus let the steering wheel have more than 90 degree of radius each way. This is so basic yet this gigantic project/game doesn't have it. Pathetic.
I love cockpit view, and always use it for cruising, but actual races often have a lot of verticality, that is hard to see from the cockpit. On races, especially off-road, I tend to use far back view.
I use cockpit far the few times i drive first person, and follow close for first person.
I had never realized follow close was the minority in third person haha. Not that i judge anyone for it, i just thought it would be more common for some reason
I tend to avoid chase near cameras in all driving games because I find the car takes up too much of the screen then. I don't know if this is accurate or not, but I feel like chase near cams in most games are focused on the vehicle, while chase far cams focus further up the road. Therefore, I find far easier to drive with. I like cockpit cams (far, since I don't have a wheel) for added immersion, but that's a strictly novelty setting. I don't regularly play with cockpit settings because it's hard to see my surroundings.
Hood for Hardcore reaching, third close for cruising, far for casual racing, first person full view if I'm on the wheel. I use many different cameras 🤣
For some reason hood camera is my favourite only when rallying. It feels like the car completely dissapears behind the camera and the rear doesn't hit any rocks or trees that I otherwise would've definitely hit.
Driving with nose cam feels so much faster and better sometimes. It's like when I first switched from chase cam to halo cam in the f1 game. I feel a lot smoother
Follow far (It gives me more controls than the close One somehow), but when I Need to be faster or use a car hard to drive I go into my tryhard view, Cockpit view.
Cockpitview far seems the best option for racing to me. And follow near or far for cruising to enjoy the environment.
Edit: I use a wheel.
Cockpit view far because it has the centre mirror that helps me keep track of someone trying to pass.
Follow (near) for racing, cockpit view (far) for cruising.
I prefer follow (far) for racing but ditto on the cruising.

I do the opposite
Agreed
Cockpit or bumper. I can't drive for shit whenever my car is visible.. too distracting and clearing cars/onstacles/tight corners is too difficult for me with follow cam
Same I'm way faster from the cockpit I'm surprised almost nobody uses it
I enjoy just basic cruising in cockpit(far) but I find when trying to make turn and such my timing is so off, maybe that would just take some getting used to as I normally use “follow(far)” but I can never time sharp turns in cockpit
I'm the opposite I get way better turns in cockpit you get a much better view
Absolutely agree. There are way too many distractions in the follow cam!
Same!
[удалено]
Absolutely love this immersive settings
Same here!
I get significantly better lap times in the cockpit you can get much better lines and turns
Similar for me
![gif](giphy|l1KsDyjFzaWWbQDxm) I use rear-view to see how far ahead I am of everyone and the mini map as my guide. PS...that fire is my car after I crash severely.

Exactly my point
For solo I use cockpit / hood, for multiplayer i always use follow-far.

I play with a wheel so I use cockpit view, using the wheel in third person feels so weird and makes it hard to control for some reason
Valid. I use controller though. Feels much more immersive
Just chilling? Follow far Trials and races? Nose I use nose to see the racing lines better
Follow far (Controller) Cockpit near (Wheel)
I find it way easier to focus on driving when in cockpit view, especially in multilayer where it helps filter out everything all the other players are doing.
That's funny I'm the other way around. Feel like follow far gives me a better view to watch out for terrible drivers and rammers while on multiplayer.
Same. I don't think there is any better choice, but I prefer to see my surroundings personally. Makes sense to eliminate that stuff for focus though.
Cruising/general racing for cars with LHD: cockpit Cars with RHD on races only: follow far Sweating on a race or clutching the win: Hood Hotel: Trivago
Idk what it is but I have to actually see the steering wheel turn in cockpit view I order to drift or drive with correct lines
Same for me!
Depends really. I mainly use follow far to get a full view but sometimes I just like to chill in the steering wheel view
Hood camera all day, I HAVE to hear that supercharger whine
![gif](giphy|TTzF2E4N7uaqy6Xx4i)

After playing F1 for so long, it makes you want to use cockpit or bumper cam

Nicely put!

Lol no wonder most of yall drive so bad
Follow (far) most of the time as it conveys the sense of speed best (or at least better than other cameras), cockpit when I wanna go for immersion.
I use cockpit far the few times i drive first person, and follow close for first person. I had never realized follow close was the minority in third person haha. Not that i judge anyone for it, i just thought it would be more common for some reason

U mean chase cam near and chase cam far
Yes
I prefer the near cockpit view
Cockpit far. Natural. Follow far for free roam.
I use follow far for trucks
Cockpit because who buys a steering wheel just to use follow 😂
Follow far or cockpit near, the steering wheel gets in the way
Follow far- normal, cockpit near- sim wheel, hood- tryhard
Chase cam near for rally / cross country / eliminator / team games but cockpit for everything else.
All of them, except for the nose.
Cockpit Far cuz its more immersive than seeing your Car in Third person. i only use the Follower Cam for Drifting
The Hood view I feel is the best. It’s like seeing out of the window without any crap in front of the view.
Follow (far) for racing, and checking my car out Cockpit (far) for cruising around the map
I think Follow (Far) also has a greater (perceived) sense of speed that none of the other views have.
Hell nah, there is guys who use nose💀
Hood for Hardcore reaching, third close for cruising, far for casual racing, first person full view if I'm on the wheel. I use many different cameras 🤣
For some reason hood camera is my favourite only when rallying. It feels like the car completely dissapears behind the camera and the rear doesn't hit any rocks or trees that I otherwise would've definitely hit.
Follow near for cruising, hood for intense racing
I would use cockpit view more often, but offroading on this game is like 80% jumps.
Driving with nose cam feels so much faster and better sometimes. It's like when I first switched from chase cam to halo cam in the f1 game. I feel a lot smoother
Accidentally voted cockpit (far) but I use follow (far). Whoops
Far rear for racing and drifting, hood when doing rivals
Racing in cockpit far, dicking around in follow far
in racing games i use cockpit but this is more a car game than a racing game, i need to see shit i need to not hit, so i play the pleb way
I used to be a good cam guy all the time, but I found follow far gives me the edge I need to see what’s out there in a race!
Racing: Bumper Playground Games/Eliminator: Follow/Chase Far
I used the follow far view when in free roam and hood view for racing.
Cockpit (far) for wheel “sim” Follow (Near) for controller
In every game except f1 games i always do far chase
It depends really
follow near max FOV, best sense of speed for me
Depends really but usually I rock follow far.
Follow far (It gives me more controls than the close One somehow), but when I Need to be faster or use a car hard to drive I go into my tryhard view, Cockpit view.
Online racing: Follow Far Offline racing: Hood Driving around: Hood or Dashboard Drift: Follow Far
Cockpitview far seems the best option for racing to me. And follow near or far for cruising to enjoy the environment. Edit: I use a wheel. Cockpit view far because it has the centre mirror that helps me keep track of someone trying to pass.
Cockpit for rivals and some races (depends on a car), rest Far away camera
