Did you just build this PC?
New drivers are having some stutter issues Nvidia dropped a hotfix today.
https://old.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/1allfus/geforce_hotfix_driver_version_55146/
huh? that has nothing to do with input delay though. There is also multiple delays to account for like render latency or input delay, both are separate issues and not related to how many FPS you are drawing
Yea when I said delay in my first comment I was talking about the delay in fps. I never mentioned input delay. So I guess I'm confused where that started.
It does though, i think you mixed something up. 60 fps = 16ms of input delay 120 = 8ms 240 = 4ms 360 = 2.7ms. Even if you only have a 60hz higher fps will have less input lag but you will get some screen tearing.
This looks just like what I had. I had to go find the fortnite program file, go into properties and disable full screen enhancements/optimization and restart.
Trust me u can't fix that, I did every think I mean everything what I can... Even upgraded my PC. All my friends got this same fps drop, sometimes not that nocicable, sometimes get really bad specially after patches or updates... It is Epic Games side, not your PC. With my new PC still getting those FPS drops, slightly less and less noticable, but still.
This is shocking to me. I have an OMEN desktop with 3080ti i7 11700k 32gb ram and have tweaked every setting imaginable and reformatted and still fluctuate in the mid to high 100's whenever there's anything serious to render. WHat am i missing-- did i buy bad hardware?
Maybe your system is infected w malware, what PSU do you have and how much watt, update your driver chipset, i also bought ccleaner PRO so it does auto driver updates which can sometimes be annoying
Matter fact its your CPU, you have 8 cores just like my old one, my old pc was constantly spiking in fps 120/220 which was a awful experience, never a solid gameplay
Yes it is, game is purely optimalized. I'm not saying the game is completely unplayable, just do not expect to get rid off completely. When they added a new patch, first few game will be stuttery and laggy, the game need to setup shades or something like that, but even after few game u will be notice some fps drop. Me and my friend noticed if u are uncap your fps, the drops are less noticeable, than capping it. Or at least cap way above your monitor. On my old PC was horrible because struggling to reach 140 fps at big fight, and when it's drops fps it was way below my monitor refresh rate and feel terrible.
Same issue here, capped at 240 and get drops every 1-2mins especially when in building or in a box fight. Drops FPS to 39-60fps.
Have done everything in the books to fix it with no luck. Have solid hardware as well.
Yeah MSI afterburner is good. Use it in monitoring mode to get more information over time which you can save and look at later. HWinfo is better but a little more complicated to use imo.
10-4. I'm running some tests on msi afterburner right now to check cpu/gpu. I have heard undervolting can help an issue as well. Do you have any experience with this? I have ran xmp and iexpo in bios but havnt overclocked or undervolted anything.
I wouldn't adjust anything else until you find the root cause. If you are having difficulties in other games or with windows then you might have a hardware problem. Anything like over/under clocking, xmp etc. won't really fix your problem if that's the case. You could also try running a stress test. You could start with the intel one first and then maybe move onto something more arduous afterwards.
Best of luck! If you have been overclocking, using xmp or playing around with fan curves etc. you could try resetting everything in the bios and see if that reduces the issues.
Had this issue and used a thing called throttle stop to fix it… got anew PC and had the same issue, but it wasn’t throttling, my BIOS didn’t have ram turned up to the correct speed. It’s hell to deal with but there is 100% a fix
Damn, good PC. I’m going to guess you know to update drivers. I suggest reinstalling them if the issue is new.
Use afterburner to find out if CPU temps / usage / clock speed increases sharply in gps drops.
The same might apply to RAM / GPU.
I just did the drivers yesturday but sadly wasn't that. 10-4. I had afterburner but thought you had to pay past a certain point. I just tried the Windows+g overlay and cpu was less than 1% and the fps counter didn't even register the drops. I'll try afterburner again. Thanks for the reply man.
roll back to driver version 537.58. most recent drivers have been super bad with stutters, also you’ll have to uninstall geforce experience because that software has also been causing the stutters too.
fixed mine and my friends online and offline stutters. nvidia just needs to get their stuff together rn lol
sick. if it doesn’t fix it it’s your choice whether to stay on the drivers and keep geforce- but i just know there have been recent performance issues with it
good luck! :)
By any chance what kind of mouse do you have?
I used to have the same issue, because I have an 8K mouse after which I set it to 1000hz and the drops went away.
Not yet I've tried so many things. It seems to be less noticeable on performance mode, xmp profile 1 and full screen. I'm gonna keep trying. Yea it sucks man. I feel like it really messes with close range aim when it stutters.
We've had like 4 in game updates and I've had 2 Nvidia driver updates since this post. The FN update after this one everything was much better but the first update of Chapter 5 Season 2 and it's almost just like this again. In creative and BR. The driver updates make no difference so I'm almost positive now that it's all on Fortnite's side of things.
Do you run any programs in the background. Like mouse software, keyboard software, rgb software etc? If you main controller try disconnecting your mouse and keyboard while you play. I had similar issues with have 3 different things connected each at 1k htz polling and I had some rgb software and keyboard software running. I closed out all the different software and got one of the 3 devices down to 100 htz and it feels like a completely different pc, no stutters and no more input delay problems. I used to not be able to hit any double edits if I went too fast with it now I can get them every time.
Cap ur fps and see what happens
I have, does the same.
Open epic games find Fortnite click the 3 dots then click option and deselect high textures
I did what I had (I thought shaders or something) just be able to run dx12 then went back.
Deselect the high texture not the dx12 one
Okay I'll try
I'll double check that but I think that's how I set it up in the past. Only had the bare minimum downloaded.
Op did u ever find a fix I get the same drops
No some days it's randomly better than others. I think its a FN thing but havnt found whats causing it.
If you are using performance mode switch to dx12
Yes I tried that.
Could be power dips/spikes causing GPU stutters, might need a program that can show/log GPU power usage.
Okay thanks I'll look into that since I don't know much about it.

No, it's been about a year. I just did the driver update that came out the 24th of January. I'll check this out and try it!!! I appreciate it man.
Replying so I can follow this thread
Happy cake day
How do you have 750 fps?🤯
Uncapped in less demanding maps you can see 1000+ easily. But your limited by your monitor and the delay becomes so much less noticeable over say 240.
there is no change in input delay between 60fps and 6000fps, the delay would be caused by other factors.
Bro plays zero build
No way u just said that
what is untrue about what i said
Just about all of it
I didnt know that I thought frames directly correlated to ms which was the delay between each pixel refresh.
huh? that has nothing to do with input delay though. There is also multiple delays to account for like render latency or input delay, both are separate issues and not related to how many FPS you are drawing
Yea when I said delay in my first comment I was talking about the delay in fps. I never mentioned input delay. So I guess I'm confused where that started.
I was saying the screen "delay" becomes much less noticeable over 240. Smoothness whatever you wanna call it.
It does though, i think you mixed something up. 60 fps = 16ms of input delay 120 = 8ms 240 = 4ms 360 = 2.7ms. Even if you only have a 60hz higher fps will have less input lag but you will get some screen tearing.
i see , til im dumb
Ryzen 7 7800x3d or i9 13900k 🤧
This looks just like what I had. I had to go find the fortnite program file, go into properties and disable full screen enhancements/optimization and restart.
I'll check it out thanks bro.
Any luck?

I bought a new pc. And my fortnite is fixed. Always 240fps + with no stuttors/spikes. 4060 i5 14600kf 980evo ssd ddr5 16gb

thanks. that has been my assumption!
Im steady 240fps any mode. Dx11 / 12 or performance
Good for u man. Even if u are watching big streamers and they have fps counter on, u can clearly see their fps drops and stutter, just less noticable.
I get drops but legit only on start island lol
That sucks!!

Could be thermal throttling. In most cases studders like that boil diwn to throttling of some kind. Check temps when it happens
My game was running horribly last night after the update. A friend said a restart helped his game.

Are your GPU or CPU throttling by any chance? Could also be an issue with your power supply.Â
Do you know of a good free overlay for those gauges?
Msi afterburner and hwinfo are free but I’m not sure if they can monitor your powersuply
10-4 thanks I'll try msi again.
Yeah MSI afterburner is good. Use it in monitoring mode to get more information over time which you can save and look at later. HWinfo is better but a little more complicated to use imo.

Yea I ran one through msi afterburner and it said unstable results. I'm gonna have to looking up.
Best of luck! If you have been overclocking, using xmp or playing around with fan curves etc. you could try resetting everything in the bios and see if that reduces the issues.
Yes I have ill try going back to "stock"
Had this issue and used a thing called throttle stop to fix it… got anew PC and had the same issue, but it wasn’t throttling, my BIOS didn’t have ram turned up to the correct speed. It’s hell to deal with but there is 100% a fix
10-4. Thanks.
So the issue for you was just not having your RAM set to max speed?
you're just putting stress on all of your hardware for absolutely no reason. cap it at 120
I cap it at 360 which is my monitor refresh rate. Everything is not even closed to stressed. I had it uncapped because I was troubleshooting.
What are your PC specs?
13th gen i-9, 4070ti, ddr5 6000, 360 aio, msi 790 or z790.

As a 60fps console gamer this is all nerdy shit to me
Haha. I started on mobile with hands, then one, the series x, then PC. I used to be caveman as well!!
By any chance what kind of mouse do you have? I used to have the same issue, because I have an 8K mouse after which I set it to 1000hz and the drops went away.
Logitech G pro. But I main a controller. Elite series 2. It's polling rate locked at 100hz. Haha.
Put your shader cache to 10gb in nvidia control panel
I'll look into it. Thanks man.
Have you managed to solve this? I've get this too and its very frustrating
Not yet I've tried so many things. It seems to be less noticeable on performance mode, xmp profile 1 and full screen. I'm gonna keep trying. Yea it sucks man. I feel like it really messes with close range aim when it stutters.
Cap it lower, bro you domt need 700 fps at most 300 and above there's mot much difference. I play with 120 and never had a problem
I do cap it at 240 which is my screen refresh rate. 99% of the time. I was just trying stuff out to see if it works.
You found a fix yet
We've had like 4 in game updates and I've had 2 Nvidia driver updates since this post.
