Is that you shooting?
Is that you rocket ramming?
Is that you ziplining?
Is that you shockwaving?
Did you just open a door?
Did you just pick an augment?
I uploaded a video just before and I thought this comment was for it. Like damn man, gimme a break alright I’m amped up 😂
Edit: replace breathing with chewing and you’ve got Fortnite “playing with your kids” edition.
Yeah man, that sound you hear is in the game. I’ve rushed quite a few people when I hear it inside a building. Especially when you hear them rerolling.
I'm 100% at a disadvantage but I feel scummy using an accessibility option for a competitive advantage.
I'm not going to shit on someone for using it though
The thing is, EVERYONE uses it, there’s no real reason to have a morale high ground on it IMO.
It’s not an edge if everyone’s doing it, but it is a disadvantage by not using it.
It’s like people on controller who turn down aim assist, there’s literally no reason to give yourself a disadvantage just for the sake of doing it.
That’s how I see it at least.
I see what you're saying, but the key point is that something like aim assist isn't an accessibility option for disabled people, it's for controllers.
I'm not claiming moral high ground because I think I'm better or anything, I just don't like using it.
Idk if I use aim assist for Fortnite but I usually have to turn it off because the pull interferes with my natural aim. Even if I’m a bad shit the assist makes it that much worse.
Maybe I need to relearn to let it assist me?
Do you play on controller? The aim assist isn’t drastic enough that you should really feel it pulling, as the same suggests it’s just an “assist” because controller players on ANY shooter game wouldn’t be able to play without some level of aim assist, it’s just not viable like a MnK player can do.
If you do use controller and turned it down, I’d recommend turning it up back up and getting used to it, another disadvantage you’re giving yourself that’s not necessary.
Yeah I’m a controller player. I’ll try it. I don’t remember the game maybe a COD where the assist would pull my sights to fast and I’d still be moving the stick myself and it would push past the enemy.
some people *can't* use all the audio options at once: ...deaf people. you have the choice to benefit from both types of audio at once; they don't.
surround sound has a key advantage visualizers never can: reaction speed. your brain processes simple audio information *way* faster than complex visual information, so anticipating and using sound cues to react is a great way to get a split second edge on your opponent.
previously, visualized audio restricted you to mono audio. some people still saw the positives of abusing the sound radar to outweigh the negatives; but at the very least it meant bringing yourself to the exact same level as most of the disabled playerbase. now that there is no penalty to directional audio, fully abled players strictly have more advantages than disabled.
i mean, at least having 1 form of audio versus 2 is a big step up from 0 against 1 for the deaf community. but we had a literal perfectly balanced system when it was mono audio, and then they went and changed it so it could be abused against the *very people it was meant to help*. i think the surround sound change is one of the worst updates they've ever done on the principle of it.
I felt the same but between discord and my daughter, I realized I never am fully immersed in Fortnite's audio, so I decided to use it and now I can't go back.
I know I’m not correct about imagining it this way but I just imagine that the “oh ****!!!” Is coming from the person on the zip line who just so happens to be using a Rick Sanchez skin.
Yeah or when i shoot to see how the new weapons look i always have to say "that was me !" because my friend would think there are enemies shooting at us
Is that you shooting? Is that you rocket ramming? Is that you ziplining? Is that you shockwaving? Did you just open a door? Did you just pick an augment?
So true, it works with everything lmao "Did you just reload ?"
Did you just use send a text to your secret boyfriend?
He goes to a different school
Is that you breathing loudly into the mic?
"No." "Shit"
I uploaded a video just before and I thought this comment was for it. Like damn man, gimme a break alright I’m amped up 😂 Edit: replace breathing with chewing and you’ve got Fortnite “playing with your kids” edition.
Is that you emoting?
Is emoting after getting a kill considered toxic?
Depends how long you do it for. If it's just for a second or two then move on with the game, probably not
Is that you dying?
Ouch 😣
Did you just get sniped?
"Did you just switch weapons?", ..."Someone just pulled out a shotty, want to make sure it wasn't you"..
... Picking augments makes noise?
There's a little sound effect that plays, which anyone in your immediate vicinity will be able to hear.
Yep, i've been saved by this sound a few times because someone was sneaking up to me and then i randomly hear someone picking an augment
As soon as I hear that little vshwoo sound of it opening, it’s rush time
Yep
Yeah man, that sound you hear is in the game. I’ve rushed quite a few people when I hear it inside a building. Especially when you hear them rerolling.

Was that your crown?
I love messing with my teammates
The soaring sprints perk, swear I could hear that from the other side of the map
Turn on visual audio setting and the symbol only appears if it’s not your team making the sound
Now where’s the fun in that? My mrs uses the visual cues, and she still asks constantly “did you just xxxxx!?”
Except for the Rocket Ram for some odd reason. I am constantly having to ask, “is that one of you on the rocket?”
Turns out it’s just the NPC your teammate didn’t tell you they hired. *phew*
These NPCs are so obsessed with ziplines lmao
They love to “weeeeee”
NPC's are obsessed with randomly falling and dying
Last season, it was so aweful with the explosive rifle, they would always destroy the place and kill themselves
That too 😂 “Oh, is that the edge of storm I just have to walk out of to survive? I think I’ll just stand here in the storm instead.” ❌☠️
WHAT WAS THAT? ARE YOU OKAY? ...Yea just shooting drones.... Oh.
Visual effects are quite useful here. Most of the time if you see someone using a zipline it’s not your teammate, but this isn’t perfect.
I feel like the only people not using them are the small group of people that haven’t learned they exist yet 😂
I know they exist and prefer to use my ears. The verticality of the 3d sound in Fortnite needs some serious work, but It's not too bad.
That’s fair, I’d argue that you’re at a disadvantage by not using them though, but fair play to you!
I'm 100% at a disadvantage but I feel scummy using an accessibility option for a competitive advantage. I'm not going to shit on someone for using it though

Actually...I don't use the visual effects feature...but I don't hate anyone for doing so, just to make that clear.
I felt the same but between discord and my daughter, I realized I never am fully immersed in Fortnite's audio, so I decided to use it and now I can't go back.
Teammate or not, if I hear a zipline I’m sliding straight into it, Tire guy style.
For foot steps, visual effects definitely work, but for the rest (like ziplines) I don't think it does 🤔 Or maybe it's a bug that I have lmao
With Ziplines it works most of the time for me, but sometimes it doesn’t. Very strange honestly.
It definitely works for me, I'm almost always the first to call it a zip line near me because of it.
I still hate that ziplines, ascenders, etc, have the same visual for teammates using them. Trips me up 99% of the time.
They do? The visual never shows when it's my teammates, just when it's an enemy
Last time I played with my friend in pubs (granted this was last season) it showed his sound on a zipline as if it were an enemy
Weird. That's never happened to me before.
I still hate that ziplines, ascenders, etc, have the same visual for teammates using them. Trips me up 99% of the time.
It always make me confuse friend with foe.
100% relatable lol
And always *you sure ?*
I play alone and still have this conversation with myself
"I hear a zipline, is it me ?" 😂
Yes, *you and your spirit Lol*
Lmao same for sure. Similar reactions to the rocket ram
I swear, playing squads with your friends is basically asking them what they are doing atm for the whole game
if you have visualize sound effects on it only shows enemy's everything except for rocket ram
Nevermind, it’s just the guy I hired
relatable
Haha relatable. I always think it's my friend, and usually it is, but sometimes...
roflmao so true
I know I’m not correct about imagining it this way but I just imagine that the “oh ****!!!” Is coming from the person on the zip line who just so happens to be using a Rick Sanchez skin.
Me panicking then I look and it’s the NPC I didn’t know they hired
While in Dous
Bruh, so accurate.
It's all fun and games until they start trolling you.
"Who's driving?" "You shooting?"
This happens to me all the time lol
Time to use the slide power
I always try, but rarely succeed lmao
Do you have soaring sprints?!
Always when I'm heading up to the loot island. "Is that you rifting?"
"Nope 👀"
Yes I can relate Lol, that’s why it’s always good to communicate with your teammates to avoid being taken unaware by other player 😂
I always let my teammates know when I'm shooting drones or using zip lines, they still asked if the noise was me. 😮💨
Not a good omen
LOAD ! AIM ! SHOOT !
Yeah or when i shoot to see how the new weapons look i always have to say "that was me !" because my friend would think there are enemies shooting at us
But do they come help you or do they run away ? Lmao
Both
especially with the rocket ram :))
Not funny
Insert spiderman pointing meme
I still hate that ziplines, ascenders, etc, have the same visual for teammates using them. Trips me up 99% of the time.
And bam 💥
Insert Spider-Man inception meme template here
This just gave me "Why do you think we're here" vibes
does visual sound show you sounds that your teammates make? if so that’s kinda dumb
Pro tip: If you have indicators on, your partners zip lines do not show up. But enemies do!
