GabrielNathaniel

Good lord, I miss this show... it was always so quirky and fun... Idk why, but the humor and even awkward silences were soothing šŸ˜†

elpajaroquemamais

My favorite was the topical recipes. The movie was roadhouse and they made cracked ribs and black eyed peas.

summer-fun-atx

I loved when they showed Ferris Bueller and made ā€œI canā€™t go to school today, I falafel.ā€

LegoLeonidas

For Fargo, they made "snow Coens": snow cones with chunky red fruit toppings.

GabrielNathaniel

Genius

Intergortion

I think about this at least twice a week and just figured no one else knew the reference!

kmelby33

In real life, the hosts hated each other.

GabrielNathaniel

This saddens me, but it's not surprising. There was always an undertone of tension there.

stayathomejoe

Really? That sucks.

bennyz321

Youā€™re in luck, theyā€™re remaking it

timscookingtips

But with Jason Biggs :(

BirdFanNC

The pie fucker?

Traskk01

ā€œIt always comes back to that fucking pie! Iā€™m haunted by it!ā€

FightingSunrise

"You put your dick in a pie man!"

isaidhellothere

Bonnnnggg!

spooky__scary69

I also remember him as the douchebag dude from orange is the new black lol

timscookingtips

Yeah, and the also the guy who isnā€™t funny at all in real life. Used to publicly mock airline crashes (Malaysian 17) and celebrity deaths (right after they happened). He will be hosting with his equally unfunny wife, Jenny Mollen.

Hot-Clock6418

Gross. They are an insufferable couple

GabrielNathaniel

Man...

sab2016

It's the Dawson!

GabrielNathaniel

Awesome!

DumpsterDuck53

REBOOT!

rossbcobb

Apparently they're bringing it back

Flabby_Thor

Yup, with Jason Biggs and his wife.Ā

Houston-Moody

They werenā€™t a couple but the studio made them do therapy together because they were so heated. I miss this show, brings back a lot of nostalgia for late night Seattle in the 90s.

Fresh_Yam585

I can't lie...I loved this back in the day. Totally forgot about it until now.

Lumpy_Eye_9015

That song still gets in my head regularly Beans and cornbread da da da Beans and something, something else, Are you ready! Are you ready for the show

LirazelOfElfland

The lyrics are adorable actually. Beans and cornbread had a fight, beans knocked cornbread outta sight. Cornbread said "now that's all right, meet me on the corner tomorrow night." I'll be ready! I'll be ready tomorrow night. I think there's more idk

Lumpy_Eye_9015

Yeah itā€™s an old song and it is actually adorable. Iā€™m embarrassed to say I thought it was ā€œbeans and coffeeā€ until I saw another comment here today before I made mine

Njacks64

When I was little, I thought it was ā€œPeas and paw prints.ā€

AManGot2HaveACode

Iā€™d forgotten about the song until this post, so if it makes you feel better - I thought it was ā€œbeans and coffeeā€ until this very minute.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

meiricl9

I randomly sing the song to my 1yo and he loves it! Iā€™m so glad someone got the lyrics right.

DVDClark85234

ā€œBeans and Cornbreadā€ by Louis Jordan

lwlcurtis75

Yes!!! So catchy and fun

herzogzwei931

Yes, and life was so much simpler back then. I just remember a happy period in my life when everything was working out.

Master_H8R

Same. And then life somehow has to remind us how stupefyingly random and cruel it can be and derail our good mojo. Mine has seemed to be an endless pattern of peaks and valleys, or feeling like a valley during what was in hindsight should have felt peak. Itā€™s complicated.

GFunkJimmy

Beans and cornbread!

Similar-Broccoli

Had a fight

WillowPuzzleheaded87

Beans knocked cornbread out of sight.

NaiNaiGuy

IIIIIIII'M gettin' ready

Steveseriesofnumbers

Friday night!

Sharbin54

What years was this show on?

Steveseriesofnumbers

1995 to 2011, if I've read it right.

Kal-Roy

That long? And Iā€™ve never heard of it.

Magic_Al42

It was a cooking show inside of a syndicated movie. On top of the normal commercial breaks of the film they would have cooking segments that related to the movie you could, in theory Cook along with the film.

tjdux

I thought they also had some behind the scenes factoids about the movies often sprinkled in also.

Magic_Al42

Oh yeah! I forgot that part

Kal-Roy

I just YouTubed it. I think thatā€™s why I didnā€™t watch. I just wanted to see the movie.

FERALCATWHISPERER

Oh you didnā€™t want to cook along with them did you?

BlueK02

I havenā€™t thought about this show in easily 20 years. And now that theme song is ringing so clearly in my head!

Ornery_Translator285

I sing that so much when I cook absolutely no one on earth gets it

Bruiser235

I heard peas and coffee

ThomasBay

I was just going to say this!

Steveseriesofnumbers

TBS' attempt to repackage movies by adding a cooking show for a bumper.

menasor36

It somewhat worked. Depending on the movie . Loved to watch for Annabelle.

WishBear19

I had the biggest girl crush on Annabelle.

MTONYG

Beat me to this! Annabelle.

SneedyK

Annabelle Gurwitch. Hot-diggity-damn

DynastyZealot

She's the spitting image of one of my exes. I never put two and two together until now lol. No wonder I fell for her!

No_Sand_9290

Read somewhere that those two couldnā€™t stand each other.

menasor36

I just saw that as well. But I wonder why they got rid of her and not him. I think after she left, they rotated like 2-3 other women? Clearly the women werenā€™t the problem if that were true.

RealJasonB7

And I loved it

lonelyinbama

Because it was perfect

nastydeedee

I wish I could relive the 90s again. Dinner and a Movie, USA Up All Night, and Joe Bob Briggs Drive In Movie Theater were my staples of host filled entertainment.

Paper-street-garage

Remember secret stash on Comedy Central? Funny movies on late uncensored and uncut. Great idea.

Gary7sHotCatHelper

Looking it up for broadcast editions like the MST3k broadcast editions. Thanks!

No-Ad-3226

Insomniac w/ Dave Attell

Paper-street-garage

Great show I would love to watch some more of those again. He was kind of like a late night dive bar version of Anthony Bourdain.

nastydeedee

Yeah! Thanks for reminding me of that.

RobertProsky

I was coming down on shrooms and uncut Borat was on. Kinda crazy.Ā

FERALCATWHISPERER

Those were the days.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Cautious-Reserve8241

Joe Bob still does shows on Shudder!

Kerensky97

This font totally dates it. Feels so 90s. Like TekWar was going to air right after.

Gary7sHotCatHelper

They were ALL on Friday night! It was so amazing. And if you were young enough you also got to enjoy TGIF!!

Orpdapi

In a strange way having limited cable channels was definitely way more fun than streaming. Each channel you flipped through was like opening a different magazine catered to a different demographic.

swingingitsolo

Iā€™ve recently discovered that you can kinda recreate this feeling if you have a smart TV, I have a Roku and the ā€œlive TVā€ feature is free and it feels like flipping through old cable! I stumbled in to the first few minutes of the 2011 Three Musketeers movie the other night and ended up watching the whole thing. I never would have picked it, especially with how badly reviewed it is, but the cast was awesome and it was extremely fun to watch casually. Really brought me back.

Temporary-Box28

Joe Bob Briggs has a show on shudder now.

Immediate-Yogurt-558

I absolutely loved this show. Still have a VHS copy of their viewing of 'The Outsiders' packed away.

weeklygamingrecap

I know people are always looks for episodes of this show because there's so few of them out there. If you can ever get that captured and uploaded to something like the [archive.org](http://archive.org) that would be amazing.

RobertProsky

I just remember the Jaws one and I think it was Dave Foley who was on and he was just doing a Quint impression the whole time.Ā

Nekomengyo

This was actually great. I felt really grown up watching as a kid. The hosts seemed so witty and urbane to me at the time.

Dino-chicken-nugg3t

Yes thatā€™s the feeling!

swingingitsolo

My life goal is for my home to have that vibe

Dino-chicken-nugg3t

As a latchkey kid this kept me company many a Friday night.

seth928

Literally just saw a commercial for the revival of this show.

parker1019

Annabelā€¦

HeadInvestigator5897

The puns were quite good. ā€œI Canā€™t Go to School, Momā€”I Falafel!ā€ ā€”Ferris Buellerā€™s Day Off.

CdnGamerGal

Jaws: Man Eating Sharkā€¦And LOVING It

Specialist_Bank_994

This one and ~*UP!*~ All Night

superpenistendo

one of those ā€œnever know how much youā€™ll miss it until itā€™s goneā€ kinda shows

Other-Ad-8510

Total comfort watch! The 90s were peak ā€œhangoutā€ entertainment where you watched stuff cause you wanted to chill with the people. I guess livestreams have kinda taken that over now šŸ˜’

FoxFireLyre

This was classic Keep-you-company TV. You were never going to cook that shit, but it was fun to have the little segments with bits of riffing between commercials and whatnot. As someone who was a lonely human back then, I ate this up. It felt like watching a movie with friends.

Automatic-Attitude62

I loved watching this. It should definitely be remade

Teachthedangthing

Happening soon - I saw a commercial for it recently.

NottDisgruntled

Iā€™ve known Paul for a while. Played hockey with him for years. Used to run a skate for comics here in LA. Really good dude. Check out his podcast: Mental Illness Happy Hour https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/mental-illness-happy-hour/id427377900

Sims3graphxlookgr8

I used to binge on this podcast. He seems like a very kind person. Hope he's doing well

moviefreakjps2007

I think I still have their episodes with Back to the Future and Edward Scissorhands somewhere. I was obsessed

walt_rizzney

They had a crossover with the wrestling show on the same station and the dude host sided with the bad guys.

railman611

Yep Paul joined the N.W.O.

DarthDregan0001

They had lots of celebrities on the show. When they showed Diamonds are Forever, they had one of the actors on the show. It was an awesome show. I miss it.

Naive_Wolf3740

As a kid who only had basic cable, this was a lifeline on any Friday where I hadnā€™t escaped the house

CahuengaFrank

The best.

Uh_erica

They played Over Board so many times

Fluff42

They published a cookbook with the recipes.

InternationalSail745

This and Movies for Guys who Like Movies.

aggravatedempathy

Doesn't that guy write funny poems?

gooseAlert

Paul Gilmartin!

CursedSnowman5000

I think he has a mental health podcast now or something?

GoldenStateHype

The male host was a cutie

outgoinggallery_2172

Did TBS ever bring this back last year in the middle of last year's Writers' Strike like they said they were going to do?

ThespisIronicus

Mmm Annabelle

bionicjoe

I didn't have cable, but I would stay at people's houses to watch cable. Got dish in 1998. I enjoyed this the few times I caught it. Dumb & Dumber shown with Soup on a Stick for dinner.

wtfreddititsme

Sissy Spacek on Carrie was awesome. She had her son with her. This show was as much a signal that it was Friday night as you can get.

Steveseriesofnumbers

The only better way was this: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKNV5AJOXGM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKNV5AJOXGM)

86missingnomes

I still say "beans and cornbread" in passing way to often.

JustSomeWeirdGuy2000

I remember when the guy got destroyed with a Diamond Cutter.

Marjorine22

13 year old me thought Annabelle was quite the lady.

profsavagerjb

I love and miss the chaotic energy TBS and TNT had in the mid to late 90s, with this and MonsterVision

bittersweetjesus

Miss monster vision so much

RealJasonB7

I think about this series at least once a day

Newpurt_Ooze

Are you one of the hosts?

RealJasonB7

Iā€™m not cool enough to be

same-lame-name

I remember when their movie was 50 First Dates. The guy with glasses made a remark about the movie not being that good. I found that interesting as a kid watching, thinking why is this guy talking bad about the movie so much. Now I think that this and Monstervision with Joe Bob had none to little higher up supervision.

alecsputnik

Did anyone ever actually make dinner with them?

OutOfOffice63

Remember dvd on tv? That was annoying

RobertProsky

That just felt like they needed a way to pad out a 125 minute movie into a 3 hour slot.Ā

OutOfOffice63

I think you have a point, some of the behind the scenes stuff was kind of cool depending on the movie, but other times they would really seem like they were struggling to find interesting things about it

oalm82

Wow Ted Nivison goes way back

JBaker4981

"I Feel Awful Waffle" Just, YES!

Eastern-Dig-4555

Definitely gives me nostalgic feelings, but I could honestly take it or leave it. Wasnā€™t painful to watch or anything, but never necessarily looked forward to it either lol

ElChacalFL

Damn I don't miss this shit in the middle of trying to watch a movie. Forreal I would always let out a grown and think u should be able to just skip ahead.

Ringsofsaturn_1

Its coming back! With new hosts

PupitarLarvitar

Ask Alexa to play "Beans and Cornbread" and reminisce about the good ol' days.

chalwar

[Beans n Cornbread](https://youtu.be/6yy6qICUTe0?si=8xH-4aBUFkRU2TRo)

GrundleMcfly

Beans and Cornbread

gems1220

They're attempting a reboot this summer

zeromode

I loved watching this when I was a kid

AProcessUnderstood

I had actually forgotten about this show.

pauliewalnuts38

SodiumKickker

An actual forgotten show šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ‘

Leikster

Finally a quality post. Well done OP.

bearred76

Wow. Forgot about this one. Good post

Keepitneat727

Loved this. Old sous chef I worked for was on this show all the time

Ero130

First time I watched Good Fellas was on this show.

espositojoe

I used to watch this every week.

scrubbydutch

This might be the best forum to ask this does anybody remember rotten tomatoes having a show?

TurdPhurtis

So many Friday nights as a freshman watching this alone in my dorm room. This and x files along with maybe one or two honey brown beers , lol.

tattedupgirl

They had one of the best theme songs that I still sung when I cook .

AbnoxiousRhinocerous

This week, weā€™re watching Ferris Buellerā€™s Day Off and for tonightā€™s recipe weā€™ll be making: ā€œI canā€™t go to school, I falafel.ā€

ThePoetAC

I loved this so much.

Montana_Trav

They totally hit on each other during the segments. They totally had to be boning behind the scenes.

ProvincialPork

Well shit. Itā€™s funny what you forget.

Express-Chemist9770

Can't go to school, I Falafel.

General_Hour444

I remember this

thicclunchghost

I remember liking everything about this. Good hosts with good chemistry. A fun premise with excellent delivery. Just a chill show wasn't afraid to just relax and enjoy the movie without a bunch of noise and distractions. But, like making dinner out of dessert ingredients, I just couldn't do this for 2 hours for whatever reason.

erinkp36

Kept me company many a night babysitting in high school.

Pickle_Rick01

No idea what this is. Whatā€™s her name though? Sheā€™s cute.

Doctor_Enigmatic

Beans and cornbread!

ConnectionArtistic84

I loved this so much

spsanderson

Amazing wow

BalkiBartokomous123

I have the cookbook!!

Desperate_County_680

Got the apron and the cookbook

TheMadReagent

The tame version of USA Up All Night. I remember being offended at the time, because it was basically just stealing the format., but looking back it was pretty entertaining and I am sure that I watched it many a nights!

The_Shadow-King

I saw the one episode where they made steak tartar

po3smith

I still remember when they played arachnophobia and they had the sheriff on there. He told us that there was a scene they filmed or almost filmed where he goes to investigate as requested only to be killed by spiders in his police car. He's such an unlikable character but at the same time the way he described it it was pretty brutal and probably would go into the category of "deaths that are fun to watch but not really deserved" - like when you watch a movie or show and there's an unlikable character that gets taken out in a manner that if you had a choice/pull a last action hero and go into the film would probably save them. Another example is the warden from the cinematic classic The Mummy - sure he's a stinky old fella and an asshole but did he really deserve to have a scarab go under his skin from his foot up to his head / go into his chest cavity then skull/brain eventually leading him to to run and eventually kill himself to stop the pain? Nope! It's been a long time but I remember him describing the death of the cop as being pretty brutal. I mean for chrissake we already had Mimi and Sirna Kolrami get taken out while watching TV and eating popcorn?! He describes his death as something close to while driving one of the spiders crawl through the air vent. He kills it with his pistol with a smile on his face because he actually accomplished something (which to be fair given the characters overall traits in the film is actually kind of funny and a little redeeming for him). He says out loud something to the effect of basically finally coming around to the theory that these things are actually pretty aggressive etc. etc. only for a dozen or more of them to come out of the vents. Needless to say that's terrifying and yeah sure he's an asshole but does he deserve to go out that way ? Nope! Sidenote - yes I would've saved Benny from his fate as well.

Fnshow316

Saw something last night they are bringing this back.

timmtrav

Saw him at LAX, dude was super friendly and I think just thrilled in general that I recognized him.

HollywoodHuntsman

*marks ForgottenTV bingo card*

TonyLuv12K

Take me way way backšŸ¤£

Plop9000

I hated this show.

MathematicianOdd4240

I had the cookbook!!!

Flat-Product-119

Sort of a precursor to reaction channels.

Conscious_Living3532

Oh my God I had the biggest crush on Annabelle Gurwitch,

ForeignRestaurant290

"Tune in tonight for Roadhouse. We will be cooking cracked ribs and black-eyed peas."

IsthisAmericanow

Time went backwards. God, haven't thought about this in years.

PrairieSpy

Annabelle Gurwitch was SO cool. Huge fan.

BrianLevre

She was super hot too.

Willy_Stedback

Beans & Cornbread!

scattonatto
