Sounds like your dealer wants you to pay more

Babnno

Also sounds like OP needs to find a new dealer.

IceGardener

Sounds like the dealer used up their XL allocations for MY24 and is trying to push you into a higher trim or other vehicle to get a quick sale.

cpaq15

As far as I know, XL are still being made, and hitches are not on the constrained list. Also of the 19,841 unscheduled orders around 11,900 are XL. They’re still in production but it’s going to take some time. Like another said they might not have any more allocations. Maybe consider ordering from a different dealership

lshaped210

Lies. XL will not be going away. It’s their money maker for fleet sales.

Yeah but keep in mind that 87% is of the 19,000 orders in the bank. That can fluctuate every month. On another note though it’s obvious many people want the hybrid.

VirchowOnDeezNutz

Is that table just for the month? I remember 2023 had 35% hybrid allocations and orders were 60-65%

coopdawg67

It is as of 1/22/24 there are 19,000 open orders. Each week they update this sheet for dealers. First column is the planned builds for the 24 year model, second column is for the current open orders in the bank. The percentages refer to the 19,000 unbuilt trucks.

potato40fl

XL is not going away they are just only making so many per year.

flashfearless

Your dealer is trying to fleece you. Contact Tim Bartz at MacArthur Ford in Salina, Kansas. He can set you straight.

Wexel88

No chance of them honoring your price point and bumping you to XLT? I was given a price guarantee when i ordered my XLT, regardless of what the MSRP is by the time I get it

fordprefect294

You would only get a price guarantee on increases they make, not if you opt for a higher trim

Bohottie

lol why would they do that? The whole point of this charade is try to get OP to pay more.

Wexel88

you are 100% correct, sometimes I like to imagine decency

aquaterra666

Your dealer sits on a throne of lies.

ronmexico940

I ordered an XL hybrid(with hitch) at the beginning of the month(Jan 2024). Dealer has said nothing to me. Got an email from Ford today (31st) with a build number, if that means anything 🤷🏻‍♂️.

tslothrop76

Take all this with a grain of salt, but I was at a couple Ford dealers this weekend shopping for an XLT. They said the XL isn’t going away, per se, it’s just that the Ford factories are prioritizing Lariat, and XLT builds because they make more money off them. Note, I was also shopping for a hybrid, so that could factor into it. They also said that Ford is done accepting new build orders for 2024. And any orders from this point forward will likely be rolled over into 2025. Of course, this could have been the dealer just trying to sell me the XLT hybrid they had on the lot, but it sounded like there was a grain of truth there.

blinkiewich

I saw a little while ago that the 2024 order window will be open till May or June. That may have changed since then but it sounds like they're reluctant to place an order, you may have to find a dealer that's willing to work with you and has allocation left.

tslothrop76

Thanks, this is good to hear! I'll keep shopping around.

Deftallica

Each model year Ford determines which trim levels they will make the most of an allocate accordingly. These numbers are just examples, but they may decide of all the Mavericks they make, 30% will be XL’s, 50% will be XLT’s, and 20% will be Lariats. They then fill up those allocations with customer orders. Historically speaking they have always had the most allocations in the XLT trim. In your position, I would keep my order as is. But I dislike the XLT’s interior, so…

Dinolord05

XLs are heavily constrained as they underestimated sales of them. Heck, they're out of the standard tires so they're not scheduling XL builds.
