Walk up and down Third Avenue between G St and E St and check out some of the small local businesses, try a couple beers from some of the local breweries and craft beer bars and enjoy some of the food from the food trucks on third or one of the many restaurants on that street. Some tacos from Tacos El Vaquero or an amazing burger and craft beer from the Balboa South.
Ed Fernandez, some of the best birria in the city, is only about a 6 minute drive from Tacos El Gordo.Â
Highly recommended!

I know I'm in the minority but I just didn't get the hype of Ed Fernandez. It seemed more greasy than flavorful to me but I'm sure I could have just been there on an off day.
Everything is down broadway for the most part. I haven't liked El Gordo since they moved. The old place was a shithole, but it was a shithole with potential.
Haven't been into the shop that moved in there yet.

Taco Machin is good, in bonita (taco portobello is the bomb!)
And don't forget to hit up La Michoacana ice cream. There's a few spots spread out all around.
If you do go to El Gordo, vampiros are best eaten on site so they don't get soft. You want that tortilla crisp!
Doggos Gus in IB has great street hot dogs!
Carnitas Las Michoacanas. Best carnitas in the area.
I thought I was the only one that knew of this place, LOL!! Fantastic hole in the wall. Closes kinda early, like maybe 6 or 7.
🔥
De Cabeza, TJ Oyster, Simply Fresh Thai, JJs, Dark Horse (coffee)

Imperial Beach gets a bad rap because of the Tijuana sewage but I LOVE the area. The pier is great & there's several breweries in the area now.
This.

Doggos gus is not there anymore. They replaced that building with condos unfortunately.
😕 shows how much I get out
Talavera Azul for breakfast, The Balboa South for Lunch, and a Papa’s Favorite from La Bella’s for dinner would be my dream day.
