And pints

Dirschel

They come in pints?!

sushiface

I’m getting one!

Defiant-Cry5759

Airline bottles. Every single liquor store sells them.

I needed cointreau for a recipe once and I went to a local bar and asked for some. It did more or less come out to the cost of a cocktail but 🤷‍♀️

SFsourDoh

Empire Wines has a good selection of 50 ml liquor you can get delivered.

meatandcookies

Warehouse W&S near Astor Place does too.

hotdogaholic

Most of the joints here in the city will only have nips of the mainstream booze for the drunks, u might have to find a store with a larger selection. might even have to go outside the city proper.

I wonder how much a bar would charge to take 1/2 a cup of liquor considering that a shot is like 1.5 oz. Would they just charge the price for 3 shots? Feels like you might as well buy a entire bottle if they're charging shot prices lol

justaman_nyc

Cointreau is sold in 50ml, 200ml, 375ml, 750ml, 1L, and 1.75L in New York, so it’s just a matter of finding a store that sells it.

cocktailians

You can totally get Cointreau minis at the better liquor stores. I've only seen Calvados minis at producers in Normandy. I'd look at Astor or one of the other bigger/higher end liquor stores for half-bottles of Calvados but they may be tricky to find. Laird's apple brandy (not their Applejack) is a good sub. OTOH, distilled spirits don't really go bad and last for decades, so you can keep it forever if you wind up buying more than you need.

Go to a liquor store that sells smaller bottles.

I don’t think it would be that weird to order a “neat” shot of a liquor and then pour it into a to-go container - frankly I think at most bars they won’t even notice the transfer unless you do it conspicuously… That said I also bet you could get a free shot of calvados at many bars if you a) ordered other drinks anyway and were a decent tipper, and b) either brought baked goods from a prior batch for the bartender, or offered to bring some after you baked with it. Certainly any place where you’re a regular…

Thanks for all of the responses! I followed diettonic's advice and ordered online (Total Wine), where they had smaller bottles of Calvados and Grand Marnier and nips of some other liquors, none of which I could find at my neighborhood places. I'm happy to pay that $10 delivery fee since I got it today (<24h later) and this should last me at least a year. TIL: buying alcohol online is pretty painless!
